Prolapse and c-section

This is more of a question for second time moms. I was recently diagnosed with a urethral and rectal prolapse. I'm pretty upset about this and have no risk factors other than a previous pregnancy. I have to decide if I want a c section or not in hopes of preventing further damage to my pelvic floor. My OB said if my first baby was big he would definitely recommend a c section, but he wasn't. The information I can find seems to not go either way in favor of a c section or vaginal delivery. I'm meeting with a specialist next month to discuss this further, but wondered if anyone has first hand experience with this. Thanks!

    No experience and I'm sorry you have to deal with this. Any chance there is a way to repair and/or do exercises through PT to strengthen the area to prevent further damage?

    Make sure you're seeing a uro-gynecologist as they will be specialized in this type of issue. Sorry you're going through this.

    @carebella PT is from my understanding more invasive with this so I don't think you can do it pregnant. My OB basically said there's nothing I can do while I'm pregnant. I've been working on kegels but even since last week it's worsened :( I'm too young for this. Ugh. I'll definitely do PT after the baby for sure. I know the specialist I'm seeing has a pelvic PT person in his office so maybe he can offer some more advice. 
    Theres not really any way to tell how this will all settle out after the baby is born, which is frustrating.

    Yes, the dr I'm seeing next month is a urogyn surgeon and former OB so I hope he can offer some reassurance for a vaginal birth or give me some stats on c sections and prolapses.

    Were you diagnosed this by your obgyn or a specialist?  The reason I ask is that I have suspected that I may be suffering with a slight prolapse of some sort.

    @ellemnop90 I was diagnosed by my OBGYN. I noticed some different swelling/pressure, took a mirror and knew I was dealing with a prolapse. I saw him last week and he confirmed my suspicions. It was actually worse than I thought :( i have so many questions for the urogyn surgeon. 
    im so self conscious about this regarding intimacy and just wondering if my pelvic floor can handle another pregnancy.
