    And I couldn't agree more. I'm of the mind that people should get healthcare and perhaps some of the people in choice b could be paid less (e.g. insurance companies), but that we should absolutely shift around who pays. The rich and healthy should pay. You can't control if you're going to get sick (healthy lifestyles aside, which btw are largely related to richness anyway). So why doubly punish those who are sick by making them pay extra while they're sick? I'm all for a single-payer plan, personally. If I don't like the ACA ("Obamacare") it's because it's not socialized enough. Healthcare is the ONE thing I'd like to be socialized.

    @kat81
    to the bolded:
    are you saying that if I am healthy and middle class I should pay more for my health care just because I'm healthy?
    Speaking for myself, yes. Absolutely.
    We can pay the same. But I shouldn't have to pay more. I shouldn't have to pay more so that people like my BIL, of able body and mind, can refuse to get a job for years and have 100% of his medical care covered by the working and taxpaying population anytime he walks into a clinic or ER. He just fills out a form and is seen, treated, given meds, whatever he needs. The one thing he doesn't get is a bill. I, on the other hand, have so many bills and statements coming in to this house for myself and DD that I can barely keep it all straight, let alone pay for all that isn't covered by my increasingly expensive ACA health plan. The Dr in my my PCP office is in-network, but the PA that works under her provider service apparently isn't. Flu shot? Not covered. Two MFM in the same practice? Sorry, only one of them is apparently in-network. Ultrasound office that the team of in-network OB's send us to and is located on my in-network hospital campus? Not in-network. All bill$$$ I have to pay now. I can't afford to pay for my healthcare and someone else's too.
    Yeah, sorry, when I said the rich and healthy should pay more I mean more than they do pay now. The rich should pay a LOT more, and mainly that's what I'm talking about. Healthy people should not be paying more for healthcare than sick people. That doesn't make any sense at all. But they shouldn't be getting off paying less because all sick people are put in a "risk pool" which is basically not having insurance at all.

    OMG and don't get me started on the ER bs; I couldn't agree more. I'll never forget it when John Stewart lambasted the republicans for hating on Obamacare. This was his quote: “If you have a better program, Republicans, let’s fucking hear it! But don’t make your plan, ‘What do we need food stamps for when we already have dine and dash?’” It was in reference to the republicans (in response to Romney in particular, who was a presidential candidate) saying that we don't need so much health insurance because people can and will be saved if needed by going to the ER. ER = dine and dash. I found an article talking about this clip:

  • I can't remember who to tag but:

    +1 for fiancé being a sitter. Also the lid has to be down, when I was a kid we had a rat come up the pipes and through our toilet after a horrible storm that flooded all the drains. (We lived in an The only thing that kept it from getting into the house was the lid down, my stepdad heard the thumping.

    My fiance does most most of the diapering. I'll admit, the poop diapers make me gag to this day, and this is baby #2. So our rule for the most part is im "input" and he's "output" although he's been wonderful at helping me feed baby this time.

    Healthcare POA. I don't have one or a living will. However I've made sure all my family and my fiancé know my wishes. I don't want something so black and white. For example. If a machine is needed just till I get better I'm fine with it as long as I'm making progress, but I don't want to be a vegetable on it. It's hard to put that into words, becuse really what determines the right amount of progress based on a black and white legal document.

    now I forgot my UO... I'll come back if I remember it

    RE healthcare, I was tweeting at California Reps yesterday hoping for some "NO" votes.  Some idiot added me to a Twitter list called "Butt Hurt Losers".  He was going around Twitter like a coward adding people protesting the AHCA to his sad little list.  So, instead of fighting with him or getting into a twitter argument, I created my OWN list, called the Weiner Breath Cucks Club.  I knew he'd love it, so I made him the only member.  Then he blocked me!  Felt so good...guess he didn't like the taste of his own sad medicine. ;)
    Well if it makes you feel better, either this bill will be blocked (hopefully) and he will be the "butt hurt" one, or it will pass and he will eventually get sick, probably with some rectal disease, and end up having to pay some exorbitant amount of money that he doesn't have to treat his situation, so he will be butt hurt then.
    Perhaps a disease that causes pain in his nether regions would be the best irony.

  • @kat81 @NotAPlaya-JustCrushAlot Funny thing is he was upset about this exchange with some OTHER guy about pregnancy cost, which he has no effing clue about.

    This exchange also felt good because this fool back-pedaled as soon as he realized it's more complicated that affording to HAVE the baby, but caring for the baby after birth...  I also thought it funny that he didn't get my joke about his mom! Sorry if I'm getting too political.  Also I clearly don't care about privacy here. LOL.

  • @sweaterboots I can't even believe that exchange. He, truly, has no idea what he's even saying.
