I have a package of Banana Macadamia pancake mix that we brought home from Hawaii back in October. Decided to whip up some pancakes and man do they taste delish! I was craving pancakes too.
But usually when I do want pancakes I make a healthy version: Smash banana, add 1 egg, half cup of whey protein, cook over a skillet and then additional fruit like strawberries for toppings.
My husband had to go into NYC for work yesterday and brought me home fresh everything bagels as a surprise. I kissed him and told him he was the greatest husband in the world. The man knows my love language is bagels. Even though I live in South Jersey there is nothing in my area that even comes close to a NY or North Jersey bagel. People may claim they have "good bagels" around here but what they actually have is a roll with a hole in the middle of it.

@mango517 Now I want a bagel but I know in California I'd be disappointed. I lived in NYC for a short stint before moving here and nothing else compares Out here I just cover it with good cream cheese, which I think they can get right.
Last night we had Chinese chicken salad: Kale, mandarin oranges, cashews, scallions, and I used this dressing from the food network: whisk together 3 tablespoons soy sauce, 1/3 c rice wine vinegar, 1 tsp garlic, 1 tsp ginger, 2 tbsp oil, 1 1/2 teaspoons sesame oil, 2 tbsp brown sugar and 1 1/2 tsp chili sauce. DH loved it and it was super simple (it was hotttt here and I didn't feel like standing over the stove).
DH is traveling for work next week and I'm so excited to only be in charge of what I want to eat. I love him, but he'd eat a burrito every night if it weren't for me. Bring on the weird grains and very small meat portions. I'll be sure to post some recipes if I like what I make. I'm trying to make the recipes from my favorite cookbooks that DH never wants to try.
@BlackNYellow We don't have a local Bruster's anymore, but they had the BEST ice cream! So creamy! They always had a bunch of cheesecake ice cream flavors (blueberry, New York style, chocolate), those were my fav. And now I want ice cream...
@Mango517 Yes about the bagels in South NJ! They are horrible compares to the ones I grew up with. They all taste stale to me, and are tiny and overpriced. I love going to the bagel shop back home and stocking up and freezing them.
@Mango517 When I worked in NYC, I was right near Essa Bagel. I miss their bagels especially the everything ones. I used to get one almost every morning. We have 1 or 2 okay bagel places near us, but nothing compares to NY bagels.
I recently discovered Noosa yogurt after several people recommended it. It's full fat so I try to limit the portions, but it's so good. I sprinkle a little granola on top and it's the perfect snack/dessert. I'm a big fan of both the raspberry and honey flavors.
