Team Green Nursery Question...

For all us us that are going team green what color/ colors will you be painting your nursery?  I am so undecided.  HELP!  I am thinking a light grey or maybe a lighter shade of green?

Re: Team Green Nursery Question...

  • We are leaving ours the shade of light gray that it is already. Neutral is more our style, but I think you have many options, including green, or blue.
I've done a lot of Pinterest searching for gender neutral nurseries.
There's also a nursery inspo thread on this board that may have some more ideas.

  • @Swazzle I love your safari theme inspiration!

We're going with a coastal theme which is pretty neutral in my opinion. Lots of sea-foam green, coral and sandy colors. Pinterest is a gold mine for nursery ideas!
  • I think I am also leaning towards a jungle/ animal theme.  Just having a hard time finding the right color for the walls but I think a light grey would be best.
  • @Swazzle I love your inspiration!!!

  • @cmar1006 so cute!  I would make the animal prints into pillows!

  • Not team green this time but with my first we were team green and did the walls a beige and denim blue accents. Our bedding was denim teddy bears.
  • @klcarr19 Love it! Ours has similar colours. That reading corner is amazing! Books should always be accessible in a baby/kid's room

  • @MyNamesTaken we ended up having to switch to better storage when we moved down here...those shelves sure didn't hold the 250+ books she has acquired. Haha
  • @klcarr19 that's like our house! DS has a wooden bin in his room with a few that we do at bedtime but we rotate them out all the time. He's closing in on 300 and it will just get worse (better?) when this LO comes. I love getting him books and he loves reading them

  • We also have a four shelf bookcase in my sons room that is filled to capacity so the shelves are a good idea even for his room!
  • @justbored10 we aren't team green but painted our nursery before we found out. We painted it light blue on three walls and soft grey on the 4th wall. It has white furniture, so it has a very "light and airy" feeling, which I like for gender neutral. tbh, I almost prefer a blue room for a girl since it's so cliche for boys, but i just love blue so much, I was like, even if it's a boy and it seems cliche, I'll still love it. lol. We are having a slight woodland animals theme as well (so far mostly in the cloth diapers he'll wear on his bum! but I'm keeping it in mind for the nusery decor too as we start to get some).

I love @swazzle 's inspiration pics. Anything light and natural (greys, greens, browns, blues - think stone, trees, wood, and sky) works for both boys and girls in my mind.

  • DD's room is a dark grey, it has a lot of windows and built-ins that are bright white, so the dark grey works really well. We got a light grey crib and dresser and an oatmeal colored glider. After she was born, we found some cute pink, antique looking drawer pulls for her dresser and changed out the generic ones that came with the dresser. Later, we got her a purple rug, but there is really nothing overtly "girly" about the space.

The current plan is to move her into what is now our office, which is slightly smaller than her room and put the new baby in her current room. H thinks the office isn't large enough for the glider, which I think gets more use with a newborn than a toddler. We will buy DD new furniture, probably in white- that room is currently painted a soft green color, I doubt we will re-paint it.

We are team pink, but DH and I picked gender neutral colors. The nursery color scheme is navy and gray. We haven't repainted the walls yet aside from putting Killz over a hideous barf green the previous owners had painted the room, but eventually we plan to paint it a sea foam color.
  • We were team green first time and this is my DD's room. Team green again and I don't have to change a thing!
  • We are team green. My plan is mostly light greys with some white and light mint mixed in. I plan to either add in navy or lavender once the baby is born. Since the baby will sleep in our room the first couple months there will be time and plan to buy the bedding then. Ive already bought many cute wood signs for cheap at hobby lobby. So many cute ideas out there!
