With my first pregnancy I didn't tell them until 4-5 months, just didn't really feel a need to. This time I don't think I'll be able to hide it that long. I'm curious when everyone is planning to tell.
funny story with my first: for some reason I was so nervous to tell my boss but when I did she said "me too!" She asked when I was due (May 10) and she said she was due the next day. What a coincidence ☺️
Re: When will you tell your employer?
BF's office knows. His boss took the department out for lunch to celebrate, and gave us a beautiful baby book. My boss hasn't even asked how we're doing once since I told her. My old boss would have been so excited and happy for me
With the second we didn't tell my new boss (DS 1) until we told everyone else because he's a little blabber mouth. He's even more of blabber mouth now at 4 yrs old, so he won't find out about his new sister until the rest of the family does on Mother's Day. We've already told the 1 yr old.

With my first, I only took 8 weeks and that was tough- hoping to take the full 12 weeks mat leave this time so she needs to know and plan accordingly.

I haven't decided if I will tell them at that time. I am going through contract negotiations and while I don't think it would influence things, I don't want it to even be a possibility. The tricky thing is, they won't physically see me again until August. So, I may have to notify them via email...or they can see me at 25 weeks and I could tell them then. I would feel a little bad telling them at 6 months along, but then again....I will tell my staff/employees before then and have a maternity plan in place. So we will see.

It's a very small company (<20 people), so I'm nervous about how they will handle maternity leave (since FMLA won't apply). Fingers crossed that they are willing to work with me on leave, rather than showing me the door.
