I'm mad. My first appointment is on Thursday, and I learned that I won't be getting an ultrasound then because my appointment is with the RN, not the OB. They're going to refer me to radiology. I'm about to email my PCP and be like, hey, help me out here.
I really hate veggies (I'm trying to do better) but for the last week all I think about is asparagus!!!! Also DD won't give me kisses goodnight anymore and it makes me very sad, but she'll kiss my tummy and tell the baby goodnight so that is super cute. She even tried to share apple juice with baby and looked very offended when I told her the baby couldn't share with her yet. Sidenote: I'm enjoying the Bump a lot more this time around last time I was active (Dec 2015) things got pretty catty and wild but you ladies are awesome
@MJDsquared THANK YOU! DH and I have been talking baby names since before even TTC. I have mine picked out but we can't seem to agree! Hopefully this will help.
My coworker friend is having her baby today! I am happy for her but so (selfishly) sad for me because everyone else at my office sucks lol. Well not everyone, but those in my immediate vicinity for sure.
@Tennis11785 I always get my mom a bad ass bouquet of flowers and take her to dinner. She seems to like that I'll sometimes throw an anthropologie gift card in for fun
@Tennis11785 Ha, my mom will get an electronic copy of our sonogram, haha. My appt is just before mother's day. Really, it's her own fault, she shouldn't have pestered me about grandkids all these years.
@Tennis11785 I just gave my mom and MIL a photobook i printed (for free but they don't need to know that) from Shutterfly that is a first year compilation for DS about a month ago so I had really poor planning there - should have held on to them for mothers day. I'll probably send a card and take her to dinner the next time I see her, we're pretty light on the gift giving in my family.
@camomile_june - I'm seeing my mom this weekend and my first appointment isn't until next week. So I can't just use the baby. I wish I could!! With my first (which ended in a miscarriage), I got my mom a bracelet that you could add charms to and got her three charms - one with the birth stone of each of my sister's kids and the third with the birthstone for my due date. If anyone wants to steal that idea, go for it!

I had my first appointment today and it went well. The doctor said I was measuring exactly from my LMP so my due date is still December 8th! It was so cool to hear and see the heartbeat....except at first when I saw the heartbeat on the screen I thought it was a hand flapping haha My doctor said my next appointment will be a long one, I'll get another ultrasound, speak with a financial counseler, and do a full prenatal visit. Which is what I was expecting to happen today but I think he was busy. So I don't go back until I'm 14wks - June 9th.
I hope everyone else had good appointments today too can't wait to hear about them!
@Tennis11785 I am going in with my brothers and getting my mom a gift certificate for maid services! She got a free cleaning from a raffle once and literally raves about it ALL. THE. TIME... So I figured she'd appreciate a repeat
@Tennis11785 I signed my mom and I up for a cooking class as her Mother's Day gift. I feel like I get her jewelry every year so I thought this would be nice and something different that we can do together.
@breezybee Thanks! That's why I thought I'd share since it's one of those unconventional gifts you don't think of, but we all know moms would appreciate a clean house when they don't have to do the cleaning haha. We decided to make it a mothers day/birthday combined gift since my moms bday is at the end of may that way we could make it a fairly significant amount, it should maybe cover her for about 6-7 1 hour cleanings!
Hi, not sure where you are from but im in the UK. I opted to have downe syndrome screening on my 12-wk scan with first child which was no harm to baby at all, just some measurements of the babies neck and take some blood. That gives you your chances of your baby having it. Mine came back fine but I think if it had of come back high risk I wouldnt go for the next part of the test where they draw fluid from the sack. There are risks with that, but I think its good to know if you are high or low risk anyway. I will be doing the same with this baby. Hope this has helped in some way. And congratulations, kate :-) xx
@ktcakes87 I downloaded the GIPHY app which has thousands of gifs; find one and then on my iPhone I save it to my camera roll and then in the post on the bump, click the "picture" icon and just upload as a picture. I'm not super tech savvy so that's my best description I can give
@SierraGood have you ever tried the super skinny organic asparagus, raw? I got it in my CSA box one time and my friend's toddler and I ate almost the whole bunch in one sitting! It's very mild, and much more delicious than the regular fat, cooked asparagus.
