Re: TTCAL Check-In Week 5/1/2017

  • *Child and loss mentioned*

    1. I'm new here! My son will be 2. TTC#2: 1 mmc/d&c and 2 CP's.

    2. Just finished miscarrying (CP) over the weekend. Thank God that is over. We have an appointment with my OB this Wednesday for next steps. Everyone has been super helpful in prepping me for what may come.

    3. Is it Friday yet?

    4. I work in late stage (drug in clinic) cancer research. The best part is being a part of changing peoples lives and improving their survival rates. Knowing that I've made a piece of history and benefit for the future. The worst part is I hate hearing that treatment has not been successful and the impact on their families. Knowing what is involved, I am also so scared to have anyone I love ever be diagnosed with cancer :( AND my commute is 2 hours each way, this state's traffic is officially crazy.

  • Loading the player...
  • My favorite month!!  My birthday is on the 27th.

1 - not new CP in December, 3rd cycle TTCAL, TWW

3 - Rant - I've had a bit of allergies since yesterday.  I was outside for a bit on Saturday and it was cold and rainy so I'm wondering if that's what did me in.
Rave - I've been feeling so much better lately.  Positive and happy about life so I hope that continues.  I've set goals and some have already started off.

4 - I teach private violin and viola lessons.  I also play in a trio in which we play about 45 or so events each year.  Weddings/corporate functions/etc.  It's hard for me to think about a bad part of my job because I really enjoy it.  I'd have to say dealing with a momzilla of a bride who contacts me after the wedding is said and done with.  She will email me and have a list of everything she was not satisfied with in our services.  I will email her back and then I never hear from her again.  This happened twice last year so it's not very often.  The best thing about my job is it's my passion!  DD is in Kindergarten now but before this year I was a SAHM with her as well as my music job.  It could get stressful trying to juggle it all which is why I decided if we ever have another baby I will probably put the teaching on hold for at least the first year and just do the gigs since they are mostly on weekends.

  • 2. Status? TWW-Benched. CD 30. 11 DPO.

    3. R/R? Our A/C unit went out on Friday so not looking forward to the repairs and cost for that.  We also just had to buy some other spring items, and it just seems to all be happening at once!

    4. GTKY: What is the best and worst parts of your job? I work in Archives and I love the interesting stories and papers and history that we have.  I enjoy my job because my part involves describing records so that people can find what we have.  However, I hate my commute (2.5 hours round trip, worse if traffic is awful), and I work for the govt... so enough said about that.

    MC #1: D&C Oct 23, 2015 (7.5 weeks)
    MC #2: July 1, 2016 (5.5 weeks)
    MC #3: October 17, 2016 (CP)

  • 1. Not new but returning from haitus. MMC In Dec. 2016 and now on my 14th cycle TTCAL.

    2. CD 4 so enough said about that.

    3. R/R I just don't know if surgery is the right thing to treat my infertility. There is a risk that scaring could make things worse. I'm just worried that 1 small fibroid isn't why I can't get pregnant but all of our other tests came back normal. Plus this means that I'll have my surgery in June and then we will be benched all summer long. This may be TMI but DH and I have way more sex in the spring and summer so I was looking forward to getting more BDing done around o time.

    4. I am an Instructional Designer. Which basically means that I work with faculty and content experts to design course and program curriculum, as well as assessments. Best part about my job is that I have my own office and I can kinda flex my work time. I can even work from home a few days a month. The worst part of my job is the constant fear of being laid off. I work for a private college and we have had huge reductions in student enrollment over the last few years. This has led to tons of layoffs over the last few years with many more to come this summer. Also, I am severely underpaid for my experience and education level and my job is very stressful lately. DH tells me I need to work where I am appreciated and don't have as much on my plate.

  • 1. Introduce yourself (if new).  Not new.  MMC 8/16 and again 3/17

    2. Status?  CD 5. 3rd day of femara. Ultrasound on the 8th to determine insemination date.

    3. R/R?  3 days of rain. I'm over it

    4. GTKY: What is the best and worst parts of your job?  I'm a probation officer. It's nice to see someone really change their life around and succeed. Unfortunately it just doesn't happen that often.  I'm tired of dealing with people's nonsense.  Lots of clients arrested in past couple weeks.   I do have a flexible job with hours.  I work in the office, the field and at home so I really like that.

@msstephanielynn.  Thank you for what you do.  Cancer is horrible.   There are so many developments with treatment these days!

@vlagrl29. We almost share birthdays. I'm the 29th

@dpjennifer. It seems like when it rains it pours with household things.  That sucks.  Hopefully it's easy fix and not too costly

@MooFish2364.  I hope you come up with a plan to move forward.

    1. Introduce yourself (if new). Not new. CP 08/16 MMC at 12 weeks 12/16.
    2. Status? WtO -Benched
    3. R/R? So my cook at work gave me a weeks notice that he's moving to missouri. So now we are scrambling to find anyone to take any position because it's starting to get busier at the restaurant. So annoying because it's so last minute boo.
    4. GTKY: What is the best and worst parts of your job? Best part is I work with DH. Also we have alot of great customers that are fun to chat with when i have time. Worst part of my job is I haven't seen a paycheck in forever lol, hopefully things will change by the summer. Also working 6 days a week 8-12 hours a day is exhaaaaaauuuuuuuuusting

@msstephanielynn sorry you find yourself here but welcome to our group of very lovely and supportive ladies.
@vlagrl29 I used to play the violin when I was younger. I wish I had time to get back into in trumpets again.
@dpjennifer good lord, 2.5 hours commute! That's dedication to work right there. I know folks who refuse to commute 20 minutes to work!
@MooFish2364 sorry your work environment is stressful. I hope you will be able to move forward to something better and less stressful for your piece of mind.
  • @msstephanielynn - That traffic sounds terrible! Where do you live? I hope you have a good appt with your OB this week.

@vlagrl29 - my bday is this month too! (the 4th)

@dpjennifer - working in archives sounds so cool! I didn't know much about that until I started working with some librarians and writing professors who use archives.

@MooFish2364 - I am a college instructor! And super interested in curriculum development/assessment, etc. I'm not tenure track and never will be because my research interests are in pedagogical research and not research in my field.

@Mack2342 - how is the Femara going? Is this your first time using it?

    -----

    1. I'm Laura - two 2nd trimester losses after 2 healthy kids.

    2. WTO - CD8 so almost time to get busy!

    3. R/R - I'm so tired and so over this quarter - my students are killing me.

    4. Best part of my job is the teaching. It is so so fun to inspire students, and I have an amazing group of students at my university. As an example - they all sent me a card after my most recent loss (I was 16 weeks along so they all knew I was pregnant). Worst part is the politics and my position is such that I have to reapply every year.

  • @msstephanielynn 2 hour commute EACH way?! How do you survive?!

@vlagrl29 it's good that you have a bit of flexibility with your job so you can be home when you have your baby. I'm not sure how DH and I will work that all out if we ever have one.

@dpjennifer boo for you a/c unit going out. We used to rent and every summer out a/c would give out. Always on the hottest day too.

@Mack2342 thanks. We have had rain where I live too for days and days. Feels like forever really.

@MimoCa thanks. I hope you get a paycheck soon!!

    1. Kind of new  - intro'd about a month ago

    2. Status - Waiting on AF to show up again after my MC

    3. R/R - DH did NOTHING around the house this weekend! Like, I know we've been gone two weekends in a row you just want to relax, but come on man, shit needs to get done.  I did three weeks worth of laundry, cooked, cleaned, went to two different grocery stores, and did some yard work.  Get it together man.

    4. I do paperwork for the special education department of my school district.
Best part - not having to deal with all the drama of a campus based job.
Worst part - not getting to hear about all the drama with a campus based job :)

    *****

@msstephanielynn - Thank you for your work!  Cancer sucks.

    @vlagrl29 & @ladipale - Happy Birthday!!!

@dpjennifer - I'm sorry your a/c went out.  I hope you're not in one the "hot states"

@MooFish2364 - Have you tried using a period cup after BD?  I know it sounds crazy, but DH and have no issues that anyone can find (besides age), and after 13 months TTC I stuck one in after BD and got my BFP three weeks later.  Of course, that ended with a MC, so take from that what you will.  I do plan to try it again though.  I think DH's troopers just need a little more time to get where they're going, if you know what I mean.

@Mack2342 - Probation officer sounds like such an interesting job!

@MimoCa - Sorry your job is stressful right now. Hopefully everything will work out for you!

  • @ladipale I don't currently teach I just do Instructional design. I work with all of the programs at my institution but mostly work with health science, nursing, interdisciplinary (gen ed), and human services.

@tlq0726 I have heard of that and I do have a menstrul cup. This will also probably be tmi but I have noticed that different positions yield different results for me in the amount that seems to come out after. If it's missionary it seems to all come right back out instantly - I mean all of it. If it's doggy style then more seems to stay in. Not sure what that is all about. I think I'm going to try to use my cup this cycle.

  • @ladipale @Mack2342 - I'll be 37 years young :)  My students think I'm in my 20s so there's that.

@mimoca - I'm from Missouri.  Sucks you have to work so much.

@MooFish2364 - I understand your nerves regarding the procedure.  I wouldn't want to be on the bench all summer long - That's just when the fun starts ;)
I think that's also why I've stopped worrying about getting pregnant - I want to enjoy this summer for what it is.  The last couple years have been kind of stressful for DH and I. I  want us to get back to having fun again.  I think it's important.

  • @vlagrl29: Ugh allergies are the worst – I’ve been sneezing left and right.

@dpjennifer: I feel your pain with the commute. I’ve heard govt benefits are pretty good though?

@moofish2364: It sounds like you have a tough decision to make. I’d say go with your gut as much as you can! The commute is crazy, but I take the train now, so at least I can work, read or scroll social media.

@mack2342 I hope everything goes well for you :)

@mimoca: Thanks for the warm welcome! I’m not sure I could last that long with a paycheck! I assume you own a restaurant?

@ladipale: I live in Massachusetts. It’s been getting progressively worse as the years go by, but with less available in Boston metro, my house in the burbs has gone up in value. Thank you for the warm wishes. I can’t wait to just get it over with already hehe!

@tlq0726Sorry about your MC, hopefully your cycle resets soon. Man, I wish I could be as productive as you were this weekend!! :)

  • @ladipale.  Femara is going good.  No issues and yes it's first time I have taken it.

@tlq0726.  I would be aggravated with DH too especially since you were so productive!  Hope AF arrives soon!

@MooFish2364.  We have noticed same issue with stuff coming right back out in certain positions. I know it's a myth but we always put pillow under my hips and hold my legs in air lol to keep it all in.  It works just not sure it necessary but I'm not taking any chances

@ladipale & @vlagrl29. I will be 42 ugh on the 29th.  Most people say I look in my 30s.  I feel old these days though

    @msstephanielynn. Thanks

    1. Introdice yourself (if new). I'm new-ish. I've been lurking since a MMC in March and introduced myself last week.

    2. Status? CD6 and nervous about missing out this month. I'll be away from DH at a conference from CD8-11. I'm. It tracking so unsure when I'll ovulate.

    3. R/R? We did a lot of driving this weekend- worth it for the trip but I hate being in a car so long. Rave- I was in France and the drivers are great... super polite on the freeways and always allow you to pass and in general follow the laws- a big change from anywhere I've lived before in the states.

    4. GTKY: What is the best and worst parts of your job? I'm a research scientist and work crazy hours. I love what I do- so I don't mind putting in the time. it's a great feeling to know im asking questions that we don't yet know the answer too- and for a short time when I discover something new, I'm the only one that knows that bit of information.  I'm still in a transitional position and I can't wait to have a "grown up" job. I'm feeling like by my mid thirties it's time to finally get an adult job!

@MimoCa  Glad to hear things are picking up.  Definitely boo that you need to find another cook

@MooFish2364 I have found that BD right before bed works the best for me to keep stuff in!  I don't know if it is mind over matter, but it seems like I am able to keep more of it during FW.  Is that even possible?

@msstephanielynn  The housing market sure is insane.  So competitive too.  Don't think I can do that commute. More power to you!

@tlq0726  I'm a school psychologist for a school district and see a lot of drama.  It is quite entertaining!!

@Mack2342  Glad that you are having a good experience with Femara.

@ladipale  Reapply every year?  That doesn't sound like too much fun.

Introduce yourself (if new).  Not new.  MMC 10/2016
    2. Status?  8DPO
    3. R/R?

Rant  *tw**** Went to a new primary care doctor to get a physical because I need it for anesthesia.  Of course she asks about preg history.  I was upfront and told her the anesthesia is for IVF.  I told her about the mc.  Her response with a deadpan face was "You know the reason you likely mc is because it was genetically abnormal."  Thanks Sherlock.  **end tw***

Rave maybe?  I think I might actually make it to get IVF for May.  May is going to be super tough because my EDD is mid May.  I'm also extremely nervous about IVF.

    4. GTKY: What is the best and worst parts of your job?  The best part of my job is that I get to work with the kiddos ( I like the little ones the best).  It is also pretty awesome to help get them the services they need.  My least favorite part of the job is how people quickly job to evaluation for special education services.  Some kids needs some extra time, some kids are just low average.  This does not mean they need special education services.  We are over testing these children.  Don't even get me started on the standards and the expectations in the classroom.  Very not developmentally appropriate in my opinion.

  • Happy early birthday to the May ladies!!

@SP128 dang girl, did you have any response to that?! How cold!
    @Mack2342 good luck!!
@msstephanielynn welcome to our little corner.
@dpjennifer that commute does suck but as asked by PP, aren't the bennies pretty good working for the government? My SIL works in archives and I think that is an awesomely cool job.

    1. Hey hey hey. I'm Amber. Around 7th cycle TTCAL after 7 month bench to regulate thyroid and 2 missed cycles. I think I'm losing count  ;)
    2. WTO CD4.
    3. Rave. Some of you know I am changing jobs in a few months (going to work full time equivalent Tues/Wed/thurs for the shipping/maritime company I've been doing on call work the last 4 years). Got an email on Friday that I'm being flown to San Francisco in a few weeks to meet the medical director for Chevron and some other VIP clients. That is SO cool but I'm not really a "meetings and schmoozing" type person so I'm nervous. And excited.
    4. I'm a physician assistant. My current T/W/Th job is mostly all Medicaid patients that can be wearing at times, but I LOVE my schedule in that I have Mon/Fri to work and at other weekends travel to help with military deployment assessments (I have 5 state licenses, but I'm not in the military). Before I moved to Oregon I was in Atlanta and for 8 years I did the same type of exams all day long, prescribed the same 30-ish drugs all day long, etc. Kept getting offers here for the same type of jobs but absolutely was not going to get in that rut again......now I do all sorts of different things and it's totally awesome!

  • @sp128 - really? awesome response from your doctor.  My neighbor next door told me I should go ahead and adopt because people that give up and adopt then get pregnant.  Just what I want to adopt and then get pregnant - I just want 1 more kid not 2.  same neighbor that has 3 kids, husband got fixed, she still wants another kid - so I asked her "didn't that ship done sank" she said "well I want to adopt one day"  the look on her husbands face "priceless".

  • @SP128 that comment that your doctor said was one of the major things that infuriates me about doctors. I think in their head it makes you feel better. This couldn't be farther from the truth.
I have a dd that had a birth diagnosis of t21, which in turn took me about a year to get over the fact. Personally, I felt like my body failed me after her birth.  When I had my miscarriage, the ob said oh well you know it was probably a chromosomal issue ( no testing was done as it happened at home). This in turn put two conflicting thoughts in my head one was well my body already knew how to deliver a  baby with a genetic anomaly and the other was why would my body do it again.
I am sorry this happened. If they send you a review,I would be open and honest about your experience.

had someone contact me from CL wanting some photos of the maternity clothes I was selling.  Got some of them out and laid them down and took a couple pics.  Then I got all misty eyed - gah! I feel like I'm giving up although part of me doesn't want to give up.  Just reminding myself I'm giving up on the control aspect of this journey.

  • Ah I love hearing about what everyone does. It's so interesting to learn about someone else's day-to-day; I get used to hearing about the same old.

@msstephanielynn sorry you're here, but good luck ahead! Your work seems heavy, but so fulfilling.
@vlagrl29 how do you like playing weddings? We're currently trying to book a string quartet for one of the summer weddings, so it's interesting to ask the musicians about everything the clients want!
@mimoca what kind of restaurant do you have?
@jchpg what kind of research do you do? My husband is a research scientist in physics (but he got his PhD in chemical engineering) in Paris - that's why we moved!

    1. Not new, but I've been MIA for the whole month of April. I got too busy with work and tried to give myself a little break to be more easygoing about this month. It worked until about halfway through the 2WW. TTC #1, M/C mid-Nov.

    2. CD33. Waiting for AF and doing a bit of testing (BFN every time). Not sure what's happening...

    3. Rave. DH cooked me a deelish dinner tonight. :) Rant. Logging into any type of "official" system in France. I need to login to pay my trimestrial taxes, but my login info doesn't work. I feel like this happens every.single.time.

    4. I worked in advertising in the US, but since moving to Paris with DH, I've been doing a lot of freelance work, mostly marketing. I'm currently doing work for 5 different companies: a private French tutoring company, a real estate agency that focuses on renting apartments to expats, a company that provides English lessons to French kids (I also teach for them - some of my favorite hours in the week!), a photography business & a wedding planning company. Best part: it's fun to have something different to do ALL the time. And I get to see Paris through so many different lenses. And I'm really loving the wedding planning one - I wasn't too sure about it at first, but it's turned out to be a lot of fun. Worst part: not having a boss to help me prioritize and manage my time.

  • 1. Introduce yourself (if new). Not new, NMC in December

    2. Status? Tta

    3. R/R? My brother's wedding is done!!  I love my brother and my new SIL, but she went a little bridezilla!! That being said, it was a beautiful day :)

    4. GTKY: What is the best and worst parts of your job? I work as a secretary for the radiology department in a hospital. Best part is I have some amazing coworkers and I work supplemental so I get lots of days off, the worst part is sometimes patients are cranky! Lol

@dpjennifer love the Justin picture haha and I'm so sorry about the ac, hopefully it's an inexpensive part. Ours went out last year in 105 degree weather! Luckily we just had to buy a new $30 thermostat.
@msstephanielynn welcome and sorry for your loss
@vlagrl29 sorry for the allergies and happy birthday month!
@MooFish2364 good luck with your decision.
@Mack2342 glad to hear the femara seems to be going well.
@MimoCa one week notice!? How frustrating!
@ladipale your students getting you a card is so sweet. Sounds like they were a good group
@tlq0726 haha I love me some good work drama (as long as it doesn't involve me)

    1. Not new. Mmc in December. Miscarried on Jan 2, 2017.

    2. WTO.  Cd 10. 5th cycle after loss.  3rd cycle actively trying.

    3. R/R?  It's May.  Original due date coming up in 2 months.  Its a milestone I just wish would disappear.

    4. I am a SAHM.  Worst parts.  The hours! And dealing with mind blowing temper tantrums and just complete disrespect from a 4 year old.  Best parts.  Being able to spend more time with my son.

  • @jchpg hopefully you don't miss out on fw
@sp128 say what!? What a rude doctor!
@amberruka good luck with the new job!
@wmartnz7 sounds like you've got your hands full! Although, you probably don't get bored since you do so many different things lol
  • 1. Hi ladies, I'm new here. I have posted a bit on the miscarriage/loss board, but following a post-D&C appointment with my OB today, I feel comfortable graduating to the TTCAL board.

    2. Status? Currently benched. Awaiting the return of my first AF. It's been 2 weeks since my surgery. and OB has recommended waiting 3 cycles to build up my endometrial lining before TTC. Feels like an eternity!

    3. Does this mean rant/rave? I do have a rant. My niece lives on the west coast (I'm east), and I was supposed to visit and do a first birthday photo shoot with her at the end of March. However, I found out I was pregnant for the first time and I had some very scant spotting. Nothing to panic about, but it was all so new to me that we all agreed I should relax and stay at home instead of flying. A few weeks later I discover my MMC, after already having a scan that detected a heartbeat. A week after my D&C my MIL sends me the pics of my niece that I couldn't take. I can't really explain how that felt. It wasn't malicious, just tactless. It's like I failed both her first & second grandchild (my MMC).

    4. Actually starting a new job this Thursday for a tiny local framing company. Can't really elaborate on this question yet, but I've been told I can bring my dog to work, which is pretty awesome. :)

  • tlq0726 I’m in Southern Pennsylvania… but it went out over a weekend where it was in the 80s and we had yardwork to do all week.  Of course.  *sigh*  Sorry your DH didn’t help you out over the weekend.  The struggle to get things done when you just want to relax and the ‘work’ to do seems overburdening is a real struggle!

pumpkin0913 We were hoping it was the thermostat, so DH went out and got one and switched it out and it still doesn’t work. L  So now I’m hoping DH didn’t know what he was doing and when the people come to look at it in a few days it will be a cheap thermostat and we’ll be done!  lol

msstephanielynn and amberruka YES the govt benefits are good!  And right now I am able to telework occasionally so that helps with the awful commute.  Thankfully the benefits are good because with the 4 MCs and now therapy for depression and REI and all of the ‘fun’ I’ve been having I really need those good benefits.   And yeah, we have some really cool records!!! (although on the other hand, we also have boxes upon boxes of ‘budget files.’  Yick!)

  • @wmartnz7 - we love playing weddings.  For the most part it's easy.  Probably the most stressful part is if no one gives us a cue for music to start and we are left wondering if they are ready or not.  Or when the bridal party starts to walk down whenever then want.  I always find a coordinator and tell them we need that communication.  We have a pretty extensive song list of classical and modern.  We are playing a wedding in June - there are 6 songs our violinist has to compose because the bride wanted those specific songs and they are not on our list.  We will need to get together and practice them.  I think our violinist is charging her $250 for the arrangements.  I have to tell you though it sure is nice to get a corporate event gig and just be the background music for 2 hours with no pressure.

  • I can't get rid of my maternity clothes ladies - I've gotten a couple inquiries off of CL and after looking at them again I could see myself wearing some of them again assuming it's in the same season as my pregnancy with DD.  Ugh - I guess I still have a thread of hope and I don't want to give that up.

@vlagrl29 I still have mine, and wear them!!!  Those pants are the most comfy things ever.  In fact, I just ordered three more maternity tops the other day.  I may never go back  :D

@ladipale having to reapply every year, dang girl.
@tlq0726 haha I have a love hate relationship with drama too. I don't get any at work so I rely on my crazy facebook friends for my fix hahhahah
@jchpg I don't think I ever will feel like I'm an adult with a grown up job. I kinda feel like I'm pretending most of the time.
@sp128 that primary care physician is a douche bag. I actually swapped my primary care so I wouldn't have to drive into Boston anymore but I still haven't gone for a check up and probably won't because I don't want to hear crap that's going to piss me off.
@amberruka I hope that job with be great for you! Changing jobs can be exciting, a bit scary but mostly exciting ;)
@wmartnz7 I used to live in Europe and I feel when it comes to government system over there, they are so lax that nothing ever works right and on time. The people and culture are great but their work ethic has a lot to be desired lol but then again they enjoy life way more than here in the U.S.
@pumpkin0913 Yay for your brother wedding being over. DH cousin is getting married/eloping in a few weeks and that's the only family he has in the U.S. so it will be exciting for us to go up and share this moment with her.
@silvergreen sorry for your loss but welcome to our group of lovely ladies. Also, We should all have thread about S*** my mom says or do that makes me want to bang my head against the wall.

  • @vlagrl29 - I feel you - although I have gotten rid of most of my maternity clothes from my very first pregnancy. I was already wearing maternity clothes (I was 16 weeks) during last pregnancy so had just purchased a bunch of new, adorable things. Not getting rid of them yet

  • Thanks for the welcome!

@MimoCa I feel kind of bad calling out my MIL; she's super nice to me, and I've never really had an issue with her. I'm sure she probably thought I would be excited to see as this child has been the center of her universe for the past year. She has literally been living with SIL/BIL for the past year just to look after their baby.
