Re: Weekly Symptoms Thread 4/24

  • Feeling pretty good. No morning sickness in 2 weeks! Mainly just feeling sore in my hips.

  • Feeling like I swallowed battery acid...that is fun
    TW:
    1 infant loss
    8/17: Our daughter was born
8/18: Our daughter kicked open heart surgery ass
2/19: We lost our son to Prader-Willi/Paradoxical Vocal Cord/ Noonans at 6wks old
    4/26/2020: EDD for baby #3!!!
  • My lower ribs ache and my pubic symphysis feels like it is separating. Basically all of my joints are stretching and feel sore. It's very mild and tolerable for now but I know it's only going to get worse!

  • Now developing lumps along the inside of my right wrist from the carpal tunnel.  Dr. looked at it today and he said it's just swelling. On top of that, he told me there's nothing else I can really do to help the symptoms, other than what I'm already doing. Cool.

    Pregnancy Ticker
  • +1 for ridiculous heartburn. Bending over to help DS pick up toys made me feel like a human volcano.
  • I feel so much pressure now when I try to go #2. I think it might be a little more than what would be expected at 23 weeks with #3, but not sure. Anybody with varicose veins down there care to describe what they feel like? Sorry if TMI!

    DD#1: 5/29/12

  • It's kind of hard to describe, but for the past few days, I've been having some discomfort around my c-section scar.  It's a cross between pressure and cramps or tightening.  It's not really painful, just uncomfortable.  Of course it makes me nervous, but I'm hoping it's normal.  I can't tell if it's BH, just the scar tissue stretching or something else.  It happens periodically during the day, especially if I need to go to the bathroom, but has been more noticeable in the middle of the night.  I'm 22+2 and this is baby #3.  Has anyone experienced something similar?

  • Oh man, I feel like I have been kicked in the crotch!
  • @MetsGirl18 yes! I would describe mine as a discomfort/awareness. I talked to my doctor about it and she said it's normal. Not only do we have a scar externally, but also on our uterus, so as the uterus grows, the scar stretches.
  • @SouthernMama15 Thanks!  It's reassuring to know that others are experiencing the same thing and it's normal.  My last c-section was almost 5 years ago so I wasn't sure if the growth and stretching would have much of an effect on my scar.

  • @MetsGirl18 no problem, it freaked me out at first
  • I'm sweating like a pregnant lady in summertime hahaa. Not to be gross, the pits of all my shirts are so so sad! Any anti perspirant recommendations that are safe and strong?  Dove isn't cutting it!

  • I feel like people are moving into heartburn and I am still stuck in morning sickness. The unisom does a good job of controlling it but I still have it.
    BabyFruit Ticker
  • I still have it also @shyviolet, but no heartburn. I had it the entire nine months with my other two pregnancies. I am expecting the worst. I hate the nausea, but equally hate heartburn so I guess if I have to have something I'll stick with what I got:(
  • @MetsGirl18 this is baby #3 for me as well and the BH are just insane - they kept me up for a bit last night. I haven't had a c-section, but I do feel them strongest in the area where that scar would be. It is reassuring to hear others with BH as well!

  • Holy heartburn! I can't  do anything without it creeping up!

    Pregnancy Ticker
  • I'm glad I haven't struggled much with heartburn (but I carry Pepsid 24/7 just in case), but I am now struggling with actual food creeping up my esophagus. I mentioned somewhere that I upchucked from overeating over the weekend and it almost happened again last night.

Earlier in pregnancy my skin became crystal clear but lately I've had pin-prick sized red dots appearing on my cheeks. Lovely.

Pregnancy is just one giant list of terrible things potentially going wrong with your body and life being like, "here, pick any 5 to experience at the same time."

As the weeks go by it's interesting to see who's experiencing what- and of course, what remedies help!!

  • I get a little mild heartburn, but nothing too bad.

It's this sciatic nerve pain on my left side that's killing me. I do the stretches and wear a maternity belt, but nothing helps it. And it's becoming a constant pain rather than a come and go pain.
  • +1 for heartburn. I've also been getting sick at night again. I pretty much just got over morning sickness so this stinks but it happened with my other pregnancies too.

I am going to ask my Dr about it because my glucose results came back good but my numbers were all really low. I get dizzy, hot, VERY hard bump, and then throw up at nights around the same time. Wondering if it's a blood sugar thing being too low???

  • Getting more hip and tailbone pain. Not sure if it's related to exercising as I noticed it more yesterday which was the day after my exercise class!

  • I mean...the Tums max amount in a day is a suggestion, right....Hello acid reflux. I feel like I poured gasoline down my throat! Careful of what I am eating and drinking, but seriously I need all the Tums.

  • I have been struggling with a really deep fatigue and assumed it was my iron. I have trouble picking toys up off the floor and going up my stairs. My energy stores are pretty much depleted by dinner if not sooner.

My iron was tested Monday and its normal. I have been taking a supplement for 2 weeks, not sure if that helped the levels?

Anyways they said if iron is ruled out, my blood pressure could be the culprit for the symptoms. I have had pregnancy induced hypertension with my previous pregnancies. With DS they didn't catch it until 5 days PP when I had a seizure. With DD I had to be induced at 38 weeks. Otherwise, my BP is great!! I take my BP multiple times a day. My BP is slightly elevated at times and also normal at times. I have no signs of preeclampsia, just PIH.

Is anyone else in the same or similar boat with BP?
  • For all you impacted by Heartburn:

take a spoonful of baking soda in a shot of water
    chase with water

Baking soda neutralizes the acid more effectively than anything else.
You will burp like a fire breathing dragon but it will feel better immediately.

Tums can actually cause rebound heartburn because it doesn't totally neutralize the acid.
  • I went for a walk tonight and about 1/4 mile in I started to get real bad cramps on both sides of my abdomen. They felt a bit like cramps you get when you go running. It got increasingly worse as I went along. Is this Round Ligament pain? I used to go for walks all of the time, but I was basically limping after only 15 min. Anyone else experience this?
  • @morgy_bee - my energy levels have gone down big time the last couple weeks. I feel like first trimester again somedays. Just wiped - maybe sleep like I could sleep standing just super tired and irritable.

  • Looooow blood pressure and energy. I almost passed out twice at the grocery store when I got up from squatting to reach a low shelf. I would like very much to sleep through the night, too.

This sounds like RLP! My massage therapist said to act like you are putting your hands in your pocket and massage
  • Getting so hot and sweaty more. I had to go to the store to get deodorant on my break because I was feeling so gross. I can just tell summer is going to be rough if I'm feeling like this now.

  • Jumping on the heartburn train. I have to pay really close attention to my diet and how I eat in order to prevent it. Once it gets started a Zantac is the only thing that works to take it away. Thankfully coffee is not (yet) a trigger.

Randomly last week I started getting a burning pain in a 3" spot right below my right ribs show up if my posture isn't great ( I slouch at work).

Still have energy during the day, but I get wiped at night. I thought it might be my iron levels and have been having blackstrap molasses tea first thing in the morning to try and boost my levels. Maybe it's helping? I didn't need afternoon naps this week, so possibly it helps my energy.

    Pregnancy Ticker
  • My parents took us out to a BBQ joint last night, and I was seriously regretting what I ate about 1:00am! Holy heartburn, Batman.
  • @jadkins2 I am sorry you are still dealing with it too,  but it is nice to know I am not alone.  With DS mine only lasted until 18 weeks and I am 6 weeks past that so it is making me impatient to be done with it.
    BabyFruit Ticker
  • Well I can't remember @shyviolet if this one is a girl for you or not but at least in my case mine never went away. I kept waiting and waiting. Then finally my doctor was like I doubt it's going to go away if it hadn't yet. I was so upset, but I learned to cope as will you. Just not very fun. Glad to know it's only temporary and three  or four more months. And sometimes zofran is needed to take the edge off.
  • I thought by having a different gender would change my symptoms but nope. It's just me. Took me three pregnancies to accept it though. Crazy how some women don't have any nausea and some are deathly ill with it. I am just thankful I am in the middle somewhere.
  • I finally realized that I've been having contractions all day. Not consistent and I'm not concerned, but I need to focus on rest and water more than I have.
  • @taylormarie923 Glad you're feeling okay! What did they feel like/how'd you know they were actually contractions? I'm also bad about drinking water.. hours go by at work and I realize I haven't walked around (except to pee) or drank anything.

    Pregnancy Ticker
  • @secicc12 I didn't realize it was a contraction until it felt like a foot was kicking my back. I'm supposed to do self assessments where I lay on my side and place me fingers just below my belly button to feel for tightening. Normally, the uterus should be a little pliable, you can sink your fingers into it, but during a contraction it is rock hard. All day I kept thinking the babies must be stretching out making me uncomfortably tight. I guess it's fairly normal, especially for subsequent pregnancies.
  • The BH contractions are nuts. I felt so tight and heavy yesterday evening and this morning after waking up.

I've also started to need to pee like once an hour. Boooo-shit.

  • Maybe someone can shed some light on this? I have had this pea-sized lump in the low region of my armpit towards the breast area. It has been there the last 2 days. This last month I have had others that were a lot smaller, but they went away in 2 or 3 days. Has anyone had experience with something like this?

Yes I experienced a marble sized lump in my breast while breastfeeding. Dr did an ultrasound and determined it was a fibrous cyst from hormones. Dr recommended a biopsy after I weaned, but when I did wean it disappeared. So basically I'm saying cysts can happen from hormones but it's worth having looked at.
