FTM questions

Re: FTM questions

  • B gets rocked while he is fed his nighttime bottle with only a crack of light coming through the doorway and the white noise machine on.  He is quite good at letting us know when he's done eating and ready to sleep (turns his head in, pinches his lips closed).  We will then lay him down in his crib, "plug him," as we say, he rolls onto his side and falls asleep shortly after.  I honestly don't think we played any role in it.  I'm not taking credit.

Hmmm, I have a wooden rocking chair that H bought for me years ago when we were TTC.  Definitely not the most comfy thing to nurse in for me but I may give it a try that way I can rock her while nursing as opposed to rocking after nursing.  She doesn't nurse for a long time so I think I can deal with the short discomfort.  I normally just nurse her in my bed in the dark.  And maybe I've been doing the paci all wrong.  She has it while being rocked.  I think I will try nursing in the rocking chair, lay her down, then give her the paci.  Thanks for sharing!

  • @Kgridley27 Do you do the same thing for naps?
  • Nope, that's bedtime only because in my brain that means he knows to sleep for longer...haha.  Sometimes if he is truly struggling with going down for a nap we play ocean noises on one of our phones.  Honestly, though, naps are kinda hit or miss in our world and I should probably be seeking advice in that department...

  • I feel like either they're a great napper/poor nighttime sleeper or vice versa.  S used to be a great nighttime sleeper/poor napper but seems to have flopped a bit.  Last night wasn't horrible.  I tried rocking while nursing but she still wasn't having being laid down drowsy.  I let her cry for a bit but it started getting late so of course as soon as I picked her up she shut her eyes.  When we actually do sleep training I will probably put her down a little earlier so she has more time to actually fall asleep.  On another but similar note, she hasn't been drinking as much during the day.  She went from guzzling down 20 oz to hardly drinking 10 oz.  I told H to try to at least get her to drink 3 bottles (15 oz) because I want to be sure she doesn't need those MOTN wake ups.
