  • @Momifbysea I am so sorry. My heart is so heavy reading your news.  (hug)

@Dragonfly6191 5 is still good, although I have also been through a similar drop in follicles to eggs retrieved to fertilized (I ended up with only 3 my first round). FX that they grow strong in the next 5 days so you can freeze them all!
  • @momifbysea I am SO sorry!! :(

    1st cycle of IVF started April 9, 2017. ER- 15R, 7M, 5F, 4 frozen, 1 transferred. BFN

    May 2017- Hysteroscopy

June-August 2017- 2nd attempt via FET. 2 Embryos transferred on 08/10/17. BFP, but ended in a chemical.

    November 2017- Hysteroscopy

    January 2018- 3rd attempt via FET. 2 Embryos transferred on 01/25/18. BOLD BFP on a HPT on 1/31, Beta # 1 on 2/5= 721. Beta # 2 on 2/7- 1903. 6wk+3 day scan revealed twins!

    I'm blogging about it here

  • The nurse called and told me 10 made it to day 6 and have been frozen and sent for testing. She didn't give me a breakdown and I was so out of it that I didn't even think to ask. I'm so happy with that number but it's 1/4 of what I started with and am super nervous they'll all be abnormal. it's going to be a looooong wait.

@Nim - I'm very sorry. Glad to hear that you are ready and able to try again soon, that's awesome!

@wanderlust14 - OMG, so exciting!!!!!!! Have you had many pregnancy symptoms? I'm in the 2WW so going crazy with anticipation (obviously) :)

@sm05-2 - hooray for small miracles. you're in my thoughts; please keep up updated throughout fert report

@Dragonfly6191 - This is not an easy process, I recently learned that it is def not uncommon to have no blasts to freeze. But I wish you all the luck with your embies.

@Momifbysea - my heart sunk for you when I read your news. i'm terribly sorry. But already IVF #2 to look forward to and focus on which is GREAT!

@brooklyngirl18 - You go girl!! So happy for you :) I was very surprised that a very significant % of my embryos that didn't make it to day 5...but it seems that's just how it goes. FX for your PGS report! How long is the wait for results???

  • @i-wanna-b-the-girl-w-most-cake 5-7 business days. for some reason I'm way more nervous about this than I was about the 5 day. ugh it's always something.

  • What is everyone's experience with the progesterone? I take Crinone and am so hot all of the time. I also think it messes with my digestion. Anyone else with side effects?
  • Momifbysea ugh my heart sank seeing your first update, I wish i had some words of wisdom to help make the pain less.  Take some time to let at your sadness, it makes it worse for me when I hold it in.  Thinking of you sending u hugs!  I'm happy to see your 2nd update and that you're ready to go again, its tough but it also now or never.  You should ask your RE what he thinks about not surpressing with BCP.  I dont do it cause i have low amh but i know some others that are older that didn't do it just because of their age.

Dragonfly6191 we all want as many as we can get for sure!  Usually when your younger you have a better shot at all you fertilize pulling through so hopefully that will be the case for you!

@sm05-2  so sorry ur RE couldn't get the other 2 thats so frustrating!!  theres no other way to get them.  UGH i can't even imagine ur frustration!!  glad they got the one and that it did fertilize, hopefully this is your golden egg!!

brooklyngirl18 woah congrats!!!  thats amazing!  How many did you have cooking again?  I know we always want more but 10 is really amazing, double digits!  I know your scared its really hard BUT the odds truly are in your favor, you'll have good news coming hang tight!!

i-wanna-b-the-girl-w-most-cake i felt like i was always having hot flashes at night so i guess it was from the crinone, I prefer taking it at night but it did make it hard to fall asleep for sure!

  • @i-wanna-b-the-girl-w-most-cake It makes me tired, and hungry, and cranky, and way emotional.  It also gives me the most incredibly vivid dreams (it has always done this).  Oh, and did I mention hungry?  I just want to lie on the couch and stuff my face.

It does help me fall asleep, though.  It just brings a wave of exhaustion.  I can't imagine taking it in the daytime.

It definitely makes you warmer-- that's a fact.  Every time people TTC do the basal temp thing, they're measuring the progesterone in their system.  So it's measurable, the way it raises your temperature.

Did I mention I'm hungry?  So hungry!!!!

Plus, every single early pregnancy symptom (and I have 'em) can be attributed to progesterone.

    7 IUIs, 7 BFNs.

Decided that my tired old ovaries are ready to retire.
Next step- reciprocal IVF, using my wife's eggs, my uterus!
fresh 5 day transfer (2 embryos) 4/17/17- BFP!
Identical twins "due" 1/2/17 (but anticipated arrival sometime December)

  • kiwisun4385 - We are beta buds! I go in for my first beta on May the 4th too! Today I'm 4dp3dt. Welcome to the TWW :)
  • @Nim- I'm so, sorry.

@ Momifbysea- I'm sorry that this cycle didn't work out.  But I'm glad that you're reviewing the cycle with your RE and decided to start the next cycle.  The ivf process is really a trial and error.   I thought I will have success after the first cycle, but here I am with Cycle #3.  With each cycle, you do learn more about what works and what doesn't work.

  • @kiwisun4385 and @i-wanna-b-the-girl-w-most-cake congrats on your transfers and FX for great betas on the 4th!

AFM, went for my second monitoring this morning and expected to see some new follies but I was shocked at the number that popped to measurable from the first to the second ultrasound. Went from 4 measurable to 16, E2 went from 468 to 1250 with nice low progesterone of 0.5. Same meds, same old same old... head back on Friday for another u/s and blood work.  Based on the rate of growth they think I will trigger most likely Friday or Saturday if I hit their diameter benchmark (at least 2 follies with a combined measurement size of 32). The jump in estradiol though makes me think they won't have me dual trigger... if my E2 goes above 3500 I will be Lupron only again to guard against OHSS.

The headaches are back though.... OY.
  • OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • hi ladies - got some catching up to do but glad to see some good news going!!

@KLake42 YAYYYYYY!!!!!  CONGRATS!!!  So very happy for you.  And its dark on top of it, amazing!  I can only imagine the tears that came with it.  Can't wait for your beta tomorrow!!

@cmiller73 awesome update!  that sounds great so happy to hear!!  what protocol are you doing again!  Its a great jump n E2 your RE must've been thrilled with your progress.  Almost trigger time!!

wanderlust14 super 2nd bets more then doubled yay!!!  continued success!!

cashewchicken I think tomorrow should be your update on your embabies - FX for a great report!!

2MomsHoping congrats on getting the green light for stemming!  hoping this will be a successful cycle for u!

AFM: I did hear that so far I've got 2 blasts 5AA/5BB.  Of course I was hoping for more but was happy to hear that they were all still growing so lets hope tomorrow will have some more good news!!  From what I gather 3 are in a 1A stage which I believe is a blast stage but not the one that can be frozen yet.  Another was at the morula and another was MF - still haven't figured out what that means yet, anyone every hear of that at this stage for grading?

I'm wondering if part of the problem is that my embryos do better in the womb then outside.  For example, if I wanted to do a transfer with an embryo that couldn't make it to the necessary stage needed to be frozen, could that embryo make for a viable pregnancy.  Some things I've read say that the blastocyst has to get to a later stage to be frozen because an early stage blastocyst won't freeze.  Am I losing normal embryos that might be able to thrive if placed in my uterus and just aren't strong enough to freeze...ugh I know its a wild question and even my RE will i'm sure say anything is possible right?

  • So many activities!

@brooklyngirl18- 10 blasts for testing? Amazing!  1/4 of the number of eggs you started out with is actually really good.  It's not unusual for PCOS ladies (myself included) to produce many eggs, including quite a few immature eggs.  On average 70-85% of mature eggs fertilize, and my RE said that on average, ~50% of day 3 embryos make it to blast.  So your numbers are actually above average!

@KLake42- Congratulations!!!  I've never seen double lines on FRER either, so I can only imagine how exciting it must be!

@i-wanna-b-the-girl-w-most-cake- Congrats on 3 more embryos!  Hope your TWW is going great.

@cmiller73- Great number of follicles! I'm sorry that your headache is back. :(

@wanderlust14- Congrats on rising beta!  Looking great!

@sm05-2- I'm sorry that your RE was unable to retrieve all the follicles.  But it only takes one!  And the first cycle isn't always a success for everyone so try not to feel bad(I know it's hard).  Hope the embryo is the golden embryo!

@Dragonfly6191- Congrats on 5 embryos!  I know how disappointing IVF can be.  My IVF#2 had a sharp drop off from # eggs retrieved to # mature.  But you have to focus on what you have, and 5 is great.

    @kiwisun4385- Congrats on PUPO!

@Hopeful_mom- Congrats on 2 blasts! Hopefully there are more forming.

AFM- My day 6 report is tomorrow.  I was dying to know the status of my embryos, but at the same time happy that my RE didn't call.  When my RE calls before the scheduled date, that usually means that something catastrophic happened.  So I'm hoping that enough embryos to send out for testing are thriving in the culture dish.

AFM, We had fertilization yesterday and haven't heard from the lab yet on results, so it's safe to say I will be a nervous wreck all day today.

I am choosing to take it as a good omen that DH got pulled over for speeding (88 in a 65) on our way home yesterday and officer gave us a warning instead of a ticket! I was livid at first - would have made our trip that much more expensive! But, DH said to officer we were just coming back from a medical procedure and I think he had some empathy for us.... totally surprised me, but I was so grateful it turned out the way it did!

Thanks so much, @JamieH2000! I appreciate all the prayers, energy, and good vibes I can get!

We went with a lot of frozen donor eggs (anonymous to us) because of cost and timing. We purchased a lot of 6 eggs from the bank we chose and now we wait. UGH. Very hopeful!

ETA: I am happy to answer any questions you may have about this route. I know it's less commonly discussed here on TB, but I am an open book about this stuff!

  • @brooklyngirl18, yay for those 10--the odds sound good to me, but I bet the wait is excruciating.

@Momifbysea, I'm glad you have another appointment coming up to discuss round 2. You are definitely not a quitter!

@kiwisun4385, glad to hear that your transfer went well. I imagine the PIO shots are painful! Are you going to test before your beta or wait until the 4th? And what about you, @i-wanna-b-the-girl-w-most-cake--are you waiting for beta as well?

@cmiller73, that sounds like great growth!

@wanderlust14, sending good thoughts your way--I hope your numbers double!

@2MomsHoping, that is good to know, and I hope this next round is successful for you.

@KLake42, a big congratulations to you! You must be over the moon, especially given all the waiting you've done. And what a nice bday gift to yourself--fx for great betas!

@cashewchicken, fingers crossed for your day 6 report!

@fivetimesnoluck, that does sound like a good omen, and I'll keep everything crossed for you.

@Hopeful_mom, hooray for those six blasts! Here's hoping for a bunch of normies!

@Dragonfly6191, sounds like a great 3-day fert report! And how exciting that you'll likely be transferring on Saturday!

AFM, I'm just waiting to hear about my little embie. I think this clinic won't let me know anything until Saturday or Sunday (which are days 5 and 6), and then if it does make it to blast there will be another wait for PGS testing. I'm taking it as a good sign that I haven't heard anything yet. I know the odds aren't in my favor, but you never know!

@KLake42 WOOHOO! I have NEVER EVER seen that either. I can only imagine how amazing it feels! FX for that positivity to keep flowing! :)

@wanderlust14 I think that is what we are planning. I asked if Lupron only trigger might have been why I lost almost half of my eggs ('empty follies') and he mentioned that maybe a dual trigger (even with a minor dose of hcg) might cause less attrition so we said YES... Based on the rapid rise in my follies and E2 though, I can't imagine I won't hit the 3500 limit and he converts me to lupron only.  Who knows though, right?

@Hopeful_mom WOW That is awesome news!  Congrats and FX for some equally awesome results back from testing soon :)

@JamieH2000 I am happy that you are moving forward and ready for your next steps. I have no doubt you will find a good core group here to chat with through this new experience!

AFM, DH finally gets back from his business trip tonight so I can get back to normal routines tomorrow.  Starting with shots at 6am and ultra/blood work at 7am... joy of joys haha. Then another long day at work. And the topper? His sister is coming to stay for the weekend! We haven't told family, only a few close friends and people at work and I hope to the heavens above she can keep this under wraps.  Last thing I want is to have my MIL flood my inbox with medical studies and random info making me stress out.
  • I just love when I read all these positive comments, I am sooo happy for all this good news!!  Congrats ladies..
  • sm05-2 - I don't think I'll have the willpower to not POAS before my beta next Thursday. But I also really want an accurate result. So I decided today that I'll treat myself on my birthday (the day before beta) to a HPT. I'm so freaking nervous.
