  • @southernmama15 ouch! Hope you're okay from the grease splatter! Those are the worst and always so unexpected. Besides that, it sounds like you got your coffee right the second time around and were super productive  :)

My weekly random is that I'm eating Skinny Pop for the first time and I don't know what took me so long to try it! It's so good that I'm glad I only got the single serve size and not the full bag bc I guarantee I'd polish it off in one sitting.
  • @szwill86 I've never tried it either! I'm such a Smartfood fan... Does it actually have flavor?

  • @szwill86 My parents always have giant bags of Skinny Pop at their house--probably from Costco. Popcorn is one of my favorite foods, and it's so easy to keep eating it for an hour straight because it barely makes a dent. At least it's not super unhealthy!

  • Also, I can breathe through my nose today. Small victories, y'all.

  • @szwill86 totally have finished off a bag of skinny pop white cheddar before. I try not to let myself buy it now!
  • @szwill86 My sister and I polished off a big bag of smart pop around christmas time.  I was not feeling super hungry most of the time then, but we were out shopping and I felt supper sick, so she got me some, and we ate the whole thing!  It was amazing.  I dont buy it now because I know I will not be able to control myself.

Currently the dog is curled up next to me snoring.  Im working (sort of) from home and he usually hates the computer but today he;s snuggling it.

Mommy to a super cute havanesse puppy and baby boy!
  • Today is my first day back at home as a SAHM since pulling DS from preschool.  I had a loose schedule and a few activities planned to keep us from watching tv all day.  So far it's been a success and he had a lot of fun making art projects with me. He's now napping and then we are going to go to the park.
  • @secicc12 to me, it tastes like movie theater popcorn without all the extra butter and salt. Doesn't have that weird taste like microwaved popcorn does.

@mrsmatt1212 I didn't know it came in other flavors! That might be dangerous...
  • To all you popcorn lovers, Angie's popcorn is also great!  My last BMB was/is addicted to it.

  • my poor dog tore her ACL yesterday. After dealing with the ridiculousness at the vets office this afternoon, they referred us to a specialist who quoted us at just under $4k for the surgery. Great. It's not like we have a baby on the way or anything. And when I asked about financing, they said well we only do that through care credit so since your limit is only a third of that, you'll have to front the rest up front. Seriously?!
  • @mrsashworth522 so sorry about your pup! That's the worst. I have a few friends whose dogs had that, and you just want to make it better.

Could you use a different vet or clinic that might be more financial plan friendly? I know we would do anything for our pets so I'm sending good thoughts and fingers crossed for everything.
    TW:
    1 infant loss
    8/17: Our daughter was born
8/18: Our daughter kicked open heart surgery ass
2/19: We lost our son to Prader-Willi/Paradoxical Vocal Cord/ Noonans at 6wks old
    4/26/2020: EDD for baby #3!!!
  • @smallbutmighty77 We're getting quotes from different vets. It's so depressing when you can't do much for them. It will be a long road of recovery for sure. Thanks for the good thoughts! They're greatly appreciated!
  • @mrsashworth522 sending positive thoughts
  • This is probably super random and I am most likely worrying over nothing, but baby was super active on Sunday, like non stop kicking all day, and since Sunday night, it has been almost radio silent going on in there.  I tried a few exercises and activities to make him move and I think he has maybe kicked three times since then.  I know he is most likely going through a growth change in there (which makes them less active) but it still concerns me.  Am I just being on overly cautious FTM?  Also google is a nightmare for worriers!

  • @bwing10 I've had the same thing happen but my midwife says that at this point they haven't developed regular sleep patterns yet, so it's not uncommon to go long periods without really feeling them. Also, her recommendation to have the best chance to feel them was to drink some cold water and lay down in a quiet room where you're not distracted. For me, baby was back to her active self in a few days. But if you're really worried feel free to call your doc :)
  • @bwing10 - I wouldn't worry too much. Typically, you'll feel him move when you're still. Have you tried drinking a glass of cold water or something and then just staying still for a while? My OB always assures me that when I'm moving and rocking (aka exercises and activities), baby is content and calm. Are you still having other pregnancy symptoms?

Again, I really wouldn't worry. If you don't feel anything in the next couple days, or if you feel yourself actually starting panic/stress, just call your OB.
  • @HappyToBeHere I still have all the other symptoms, just a not so active little one!  When I get home from work tonight I will try the cold water thing!

I am sure I am just overacting, have had a very smooth second trimester and had a good 24 week check up last week.

  • @bwing10 what everyone else said! If I'm busy all day long she's silent but after I lay in bed totally still for a few minutes she usually greets me with a kick and rolls around for a while. It's normal. I know it's hard not to let your mind wander but trust your body and baby are doing what they're supposed to.

@mrsashworth522 Ugh! So sorry to hear that! Our pup has a "small tear" in his so we monitor his activity to make sure it doesn't become a total tear. We were ticked off when we found out that signing up for pet insurance is worthless since we already took him to a vet over the issue. So unless he tears the other knee it doesn't help us at all. There has to be somewhere that will help you out!

@szwill86 @bumpybump think  I'm stopping for this popcorn snack you all are talking about on my way home today lol
  • @cmmiller531 I was also reading that if I had pet insurance, and it happened within the first year, they likely wouldn't cover it anyway. Also, that because it happened on one side, there is a 50% chance of it occurring on the other side so getting insurance to cover either would be extremely difficult. I just am having a hard time understanding why surgery on a dog is going to cost almost as much as one of my hip surgeries had I had to pay for those out of pocket. But, such is life.
  • DS's stomach bug finally caught up to me and I've been sick all night and this morning. I was also having a minor freak out because I haven't felt baby B move today, A has been kicking away all morning.  I was worried my violent stomach contractions did something since she sits right under my diaphragm. But I think I finally felt a small kick.
  • @bwing10 - thanks for the update! Good on you for listening to your own body; I'm so glad they caught the HBP right away!
  • @bwing10 so glad you and baby are ok. I'm a firm believer in always listening to your body, especially when pregnant.
  • @taylormarie923 I hope you feel better soon!!

  • Thanks! I think I may have turned a corner, but still very nauseous. The babies had a dance party when I went to bed last night and I've felt a lot of movement this morning so that's a huge relief.
  • Random!
As women, we're subject to overly friendly greetings from random men / catcalling, yes?
I was just walking down the street on lunch when a random man cheerfully called to me, "How you two doin'!?"
    I was walking alone!  :D:D;)

Baby's first catcall, that's one for the books.
Some guys especially dig pregnant women.
  • Yesterday I ate a pint of blueberrries, a pint of strawberries, and a pound of peaches. SOS!

I'm pretty addicted to reading the birth announcements in previous BMBs. Anyone else??
Me too! Crazy that June has had 2 births already!

  • Hey, do we keep our group going after our babies are born? I started reading about Montessori bedrooms (which you can start using between 9 months-1 year and would love to keep up our group chatting.
  • @emilyrose807 my last BMB moved to Facebook and have stayed together for over three years total.

  • Yep, our BMB has been together for 4 years. There have been a few splits along the way, so technically there are a few FB groups. Drama llamas.
  • @emilyrose807 +1 for Montessori room!
  • Annoyed that they scheduled a fire drill for today at the college and didn't tell us till yesterday afternoon. With it being so close to finals, I had stuff I really needed to cover today!

  • @livlew-2 Have you done one before or just know about it? I love the idea of hanging a mirror and pictures at the height the baby/toddler/child is. It makes so much sense!

I started looking for a stained glass to hang in the window. I remember loving the ones my dad had growing up. So fun!
  • Good info to be aware of. Of course this varies greatly from family to family based on how they shop/spend. https://money.good.is/articles/real-cost-having-a-baby?utm_source=121&utm_medium=FB&utm_campaign=swp
