Sorry if I'm being a post hog but I thought it might be kind of fun to share what we all miss eating or are really craving and can't get for whatever reason!
1) Spicy salmon rolls with allllllll the spicy mayo. All of it. 2) Subway tuna melt with provolone, lettuce, banana peppers, and honey mustard. 3) Hot dogs, specifically Hebrew National off a grill.
Anything with any sort of flavor at all. So far today I have had plain pasta with butter, toast, a bagel and saltines. Everything else in the world is disgusting to me now though.
@cmessamore there's a brunch place near us that does something called a shakshuka which I looove and I was worried I'd have to give it up but I confirmed with them that they only use pasteurized feta. Best. Day. Ever.
I would love a Bacon Turkey Bravo from Panera and an ice cold Blue Moon with a big orange wedge. Oddly enough I also want radishes. I think they are considered sprouts though (maybe??) and I've been afraid to indulge.
-Lots of sushi or just sashimi!! Especially fresh salmon -Big bowl of tuna salad -Big ass deli sub from Jersey Mike's
Right now I'm eating this zesty salad bowl I like whenever I get from starbucks but today it tastes like sh?#! for some reason. Hate aversion. Wasted my money
OYSTERS!!! Can I have them baked?? Oh and since I am on a slat restricted diet you can only imagine the things I WANT to eat like chips, pickles, and other salty goodies! lol I will also miss a nice refreshing adult beverage as we relax on and around the beach this summer! I am NOT a heavy drinker but something super sweet that takes the edge off....that will be missed
Tuna and avocado and salmon and avocado sushi rolls. A giant turkey and cheese sub. I want to eat cheese without questioning whether it's soft or semi soft or pasteurized... lol.
I eat a lot of things on the not-to-eat list (mainly Italian subs bc --omg-- the cravings), but I miss beer so much. @cmessamore the regular ol' grocery store athenos brand feta is pasteurized. Easy to find! I know plenty of people find a way around with certain sushi, @DuchessOfCambridge, but since I'm not a seafood fan I don't remember which ones. I currently have a huge aversion to a lot of meats, especially barbecue. Which sucks bc I live near two BBQ restaurants and get sick when I smell it.
@deerfauxm I know there are lots of moms-to-be who eat sushi and deli meat, and that's great for them, but I prefer to avoid it. It just makes me more comfortable and give me peace of mind By baby #2 I may have thrown most of the rules out the window but right now I'm pretty much following them all!
For sushi right now I'm just eating cucumber or avocado rolls and drowning them in spicy mayo. It's just not the same though, guys.
Just want to throw it out there, I think there are many, many pasteurized options for soft cheeses. I think it's more common to find them pasteurized than not in the US. Just ate a huge bowl of roasted beets with feta and chopped walnuts. It's been a new lunch staple:)
Warm artichoke and spinach dip with parmesan on top and pita bread, followed by shrimp and crayfish etouffe with a nice crusty roll and extra rice on the side. Double chocolate ice cream with chocolate fudge on a warm chocolate brownie. If the thought of all that didn't make me nauseous, I'd be drooling.

@ArtificialRed Sprouts are bad for food poisioning in general. They are actually one of the most common causes of food borne illnesses. Because of the way they grow, you can't get rid of bacteria through washing, and they are almost never cooked to a high enough temperature to kill the bacteria. I started avoiding them even before TTC because of this. Do not want food poisoning, pregnant or not.
@av2323 My husband and I had this conversation because my handout from my OB says "no radish sprouts". I think some sprouts come from the radish plant, but it's just the green, early-growing shoots and leaves of the plant. A full-grown radish bulb should be fine. Just like beans are fine, but bean sprouts aren't.
@RiverSong15 So the handful of times I've had sprouts were okay for the baby since I didn't get food poisoning? And I don't even really like them, but I ate them because they came on my dinner and at the time I was barely eating any vegetables. Could've avoided them guilt free, sad face.
@ArtiricialRed Yes, you should be fine since you didn't get sick. So don't feel guilty! We can't enclose ourselves in a plastic bubble for 9 months Stuff happens.
Sushi, smoked salmon and oysters!! But @Einneh what's wrong with crab? I've been looking forward to having some crab legs this summer...but not if they're not safe.. Also I though hotdogs were ok if you eat the no nitrate, beef kind heated up very hot?
@RiverSong15 thanks! I always forget about the food stuff as a mostly vegan. No cheese or deli or fish to worry about! I honestly didn't even look over the food list my midwife gave me. Maybe I'll dig that out and double check lol
As for what I wish I was eating.. donuts. I know that fancy, artisan donuts are all the rage these days.. but I just want your generic dunkin cream (the kind of icing like filling that is pure sugar??) filled, yeast donut.
Guys, I was craving chicken, broccoli alfredo for dinner, but it's just me and DS3 home for dinner tonight, so I didn't want to make it for just myself and I didn't want to get take out, because I have been doing that a lot lately. So while I was at the grocery store this morning, I bought a frozen Stouffers meal of it. And while it's actually pretty yummy, it was like 5 bites of food!!!! I could've eaten 4-5 of them!! I'm so sad and still hungry!
@megankth I added hot dogs on my list because I have been hardcore craving one for weeks and won't get one until next weekend lol. I can't wait for it!
@ArtificialRed boston kreme donuts are THE BEST. I had one last week. It was great.
@cmessamore those meals are always so sad for me. So good, but not filling...even when I'm not pregnant haha
I want Fazoli's so bad but there are no Fazoli's here. :-( I also want Dairy Queen ice cream cake but don't want to buy an entire cake. I wish they sold it by the slice.
All the sushi. Although our favorite sushi restaurant has really, really good vegan, vegetarian and cooked fish rolls, so it's not so bad. As a bonus, the veggie/vegan ones are cheaper so I can buy more! Also, all the beer. I have been doing pretty good with not drinking, but the weather turned warm the last couple of days and my brother is visiting so he and DH are drinking a lot, now I want to join in! Sigh, more fizzy water and cranberry juice for me...
DH got a pastrami deli sandwich yesterday and offered me a bite and it took all of my self control to say no. I'm not sure I've ever wanted any food more than that.
ETA: clarification.

These food posts..... I always end up reading them right before dinner time! So now when dh gets home, we're getting sushi. I know some people are not comfortable eating sushi during pregnancy, and you should never do things that you are uncomfortable with. Sushi grade fish is super high quality, and if you have never gotten sick from eating at a particular restaurant prior to pregnancy, you're probably definitely fine. But still stick with smaller fish and avoid the larger mercury filled fish.
I keep forgetting no deli meat! Twice now I've had Panera. Oops. Luckily so far I'm good. I want everything food wise. Pizza, anything with melted cheese, deviled eggs. But everything smells terrible to me. :'(
Guys it's 9am and all I want is sushi and a pastrami sandwich. This is my second but I still feel guilty for spending weeks drinking green juices that were unpasteurized. So stupid bc if i was going to break the rules I would have not broken them for stupid green juice. Pastrami sandwich, maybe. But green juice ?! Ugh
