I know that some people have held back on some foods while pregnant so I was curious if anyone is requesting any special food/meal be brought to you for after giving birth, or are you just going with good old hospital food?

Oh I have already told my husband what I want the minute I am able to eat. I have requested my favorite sandwich from jersey mikes and a pomegranate Bai. I couldn't have either due to heartburn. I can't wait!!
Not right after birth but I am requesting french toast for one of my breakfasts from a small chain called Kneaders. I've craving it for quite awhile but I have been trying to watch what goes in my mouth so have held back.
Hospital food the rest of my stay.

An Italian sub from my favorite place (I've already indulged in a few over the past couple months but hey I can I have what I want!) and a full glass of sparkling rose.

Ahhh Kneaders French toast is the best! I'm not a huge fan of their lunch menu, but I'd take their French toast any day!

I was gifted two small bottles of champagne to take to the hospital with me. DH doesn't drink so all mine but my friend said they wanted to celebrate a little the second night so she gave me those just in case
The pub across the road from the hospital does takeaway meals! (And delivery to the maternity ward) I plan on a huge pub meal, possibly a chicken schnitzel and chips smothered in gravy! I know I could eat that now, but that pub is so good!

Not in the hospital, but as soon as we can get a night out together, I'm eating ALL of the sushi. I've had the cooked rolls a few times (eel, shrimp) but I want to eat all of my favorites.

I'm sure I'll send DH out for what ever I'm craving. But the food at the hospital I'm delivering is surprisingly delicious. I look forward to not having to cook those days
I'm the violator who has had deli meat and sushi this pregnancy; also some sips of wine. So I don't even deserve a special meal. I kind of like hospital food so I'll go with that. I might try a fancy beer (the ones I like are high in alcohol) some time shortly postpartum. But the thing is with sleep deprivation and whatnot I found in the past the alcohol-free stage lasts longer than you'd like it too. And...hate to be such a sour puss about this, but the "now I can finally sleep in X position comfortably" thing doesn't work out that well at first, either, because of milk, leaking, engorgement, clogged ducts, etc. I slept on one side in the hospital my 2nd night last time and ended up with a golf ball sized lump in my armpit that took months to fully go away. I was sleeping in a way that plugged that duct, I guess, right as the milk was coming in. ugh.
@kat81 I had deli meat and some alcohol during my pregnancy too. Never had any cravings for anything.
I had the hospital food during my stay. wasn't bad actually! French toast breakfasts (that's one of my faves!). my dad grilled out for our welcome home meal! Best burger
I remember being so ravenous after delivery that I just wanted food period. I laugh at the pictures of my parents holding DD for the first time and you can see me in the background eating like I've been starved. Although really, it was my first meal all day (at 9pm)!
I do have a small bottle of wine chilling in the fridge and will send DH out for whatever I'm craving then.
I haven't really thought about it but champagne and wine sounds wonderful. Ive eaten deli meat, drank coffee, all within moderation, so no one specific food.
@kat81 I haven't avoided anything either, most of it seems pointless to me, I mean I don't like sushi or much fish so the high mercury thing doesn't bother me, but when I asked my doctor what to avoid last time he just shrugged and said "don't drink too much"

My guests have been instructed to bring something over 60g of carbs. I'm hoping for some chocolate chip cookies and a chocolate malt.
Yes!! I just want to eat whatever I want to eat. This is my new fantasy. Fruit. Mac n cheese. Whatever. Also, I told DH I'd like a Cinnabon sometime after birth. Or a Cook Out milkshake. Or Taco Bell. Anything. I'm so hungry now.
Put me in the camp that's still eating deli meat and having caffeine. (I literally ate a cold bologna sandwich yesterday, no shame!!! I've loved Bologna since I was a kid) I've had a couple sips of wine here and there, but wine and mimosas are what I can't wait to have. It will probably still be some time before those are added back. At least till milk supply seems normal.
After readimg everyone else's I want a milkshake now... like for breakfast...today
Haven't given much thought to what I'll want. Supposedly our hospital's food has won awards, so I imagine we'll eat that while we are there. A caramel macchiato with soy milk though is on my list for when we are not in the hospital!

No requests from me. I was so ravenous last time even army hospital food tasted good!
I'm slightly nervous about the army hospital food that I'll be subject to... my other two deliveries where civilian hospitals!
I have no specific requests, and we don't really have anything that I love around here.
The cafeteria at the hospital here pulls double duty as a DFAC so it is standard army fare. I eat there not so infrequently when I have appointments or visit husband at work and it really isn't too bad.
I agree with most I ate pretty much whatever this pregnancy so it isn't about having something I couldn't but more about having something I want because I know I will be ravenous.
@WombThereItIs Same with our hospital. I'll have to try them out at an upcoming appointment to see what I'm in for. They do have a coffee bar in the hospital too, so at least I know I can get some good coffee and bakery items if needed!

Food wise I have no idea, whatever sounds good at the moment. The only thing I've missed (and only in the past couple weeks) is sushi, but it doesn't sound good at the moment haha.
Now, this I have requested...It's a Birthday cake Mimosa (recipe on Cosmo, which is blocked at work)
This is a dangerous thread for me to be reading now- I want all of the things!
DS was born in the middle of the night, when nothing was open (including the hospital cafeteria), and I was starving after my 35 hour labor! I ended up inhaling the pre-made sandwich from the nurse's lounge, and a bunch of random vending machine garbage that tasted amazing. The next day, my MIL brought me a McFlurry which was heaven.
Once out of the hospital, I'm looking forward to a med-rare burger with a gooey, runny, fried egg on top and a summery beer, hopefully to be eaten out on a patio!

Grean Bean is kind of meh but better than army coffee for sure.
@kayemjay2 I have also been craving summer beer on the patio. Makes me happy that I can have one end of May and don't have to wait all summer for patio drinking. There are so many new beers I want to try.
I told my mom that I want her to bring me a breakfast burrito from a restaurant in my hometown, they are so good and I rarely ever get one!
With DS after delivery I ordered a salad from the hospital and ate that but then when they tried to get me up I kept almost passing out. The nurse asked if I eaten anything and I told her I had a salad and she started laughing and told me to order again and this time get lots of carbs, so I had chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, mac and cheese and vanilla ice cream. Seriously best meal ever and I felt so much better! What was I thinking ordering a salad??
Literally our birth plan says: "Get the little human out safely and order Pizza Luce". Priorities! So there's a local pizza chain with a spot right by the hospital, and we got that immediately after DS was born and will do it again this time. I've also requested that DH get some banana chocolate chip bread from my favorite bakery as I have gestational diabetes and have been wanting that like crazy! Besides that, our hospital food is super good with a smoothie bar, so I'll be having lots of those too.
I haven't had to give up anything, since I don't drink or eat meat, and I don't eat fancy cheeses that I'd have to avoid. I have had to limit certain cookies that I love, because for some reason, they cause heartburn. It'll be nice to eat them without fear.

Our hospital does a special dinner the second night-- Steak, potato, a big salad, and fancy dessert. Last time I picked cheesecake. Mmmm.
I know I could eat that now, but that pub is so good!
