  I think that you have to look at the rate of doubling rather than the number itself.  Low numbers aren't nessesarily A bad thing.  I wonder why they said you were negative though? Good luck.

  I'm interested to know how they went from negative to 14 an hour later... was it 14 the whole time and they just assumed it wasn't viable? Its weird because digitals are usually not very sensitive. I think it really depends on the dpo... some people test really early and get low numbers (because its so early). Why not go back in 2 days to see if your hcg beta doubles... that's the quickest way to know what direction its going.

  @wabash15- Yes if I still don't have my period by Thursday they want me to go back for another draw.
  
  @justsuzie- I don't know I think because that is what the lab put down but they took a closer look because the nurse said she don't know why they said it was negative.
  
  @dragonette505- I think the lab just put negative because it was low and when I told the nurse that I had at home positives it made her look over the paper work better but I don't know. I go back Thursday though if I don't get my period.

  Some clinics label anything <5 as a negative, and some drawn the line at 25. If you got a positive on Friday, even as a squinter, they would probably expect your number to be over 50 by now. Are your lines still getting darker?
  
  That said, everyone's different - welcome to "beta hell"  :'( It's the worst. But I don't think they should make you wait a week! 48 hours is plenty to see if your numbers are going up or down! I would push for a Wednesday appointment if I were you.

  I forget the exact word they used, but it was something like my doctor said anything between 5-25 was inconclusive.  My first beta was only 20 but went up to 146 3 days later.  That being said as everyone else mentioned the most important thing is that your numbers are doubling.

  Doubling is what to look for. My RE's threshold is 5- my OB is 25..... By digis usually need a minimum of 25-50 to turn.... Gl!

  I got a very faint positive 9 dpo at my routine OB appt. My hcg was only an 11. It tripled every 48hrs and now I'm doing great at 7.5weeks..stay encouraged mama!

  I agree that you should push to be seen a little earlier! I don't understand why they want you to wait that long to be tested again.

  @leighawilson91- At first they wanted me to wait the week. They called and said negative but they called back and hour later and said it was 14 and they don't know why the lab said it was negative so I go back thursday.

  After a being a week late, 3 positive frer, 2 positive dollar store test and a positive digital I started bleeding and cramping on the 19th. Lots of clots and had to take hydro for the cramping. I am heartbroken and I wish you all luck!
