When does/did baby turn 6 months?
On March 1st, so almost a week ago.

    Any milestones hit?
Rolls from front to back, rolled from back to front a couple of times, sits assisted and can sit unassisted for brief moments.

Tell us about sleep, nighttime and naps-
Sleeps almost through the night. Usually wakes up once for a feeding. Naps are sporadic. Always goes down 2-3 hours after he wakes up but after that they are random.

    Weight and length?
    14 lbs and 27 ins

    Feeding solids yet?
Yes started rice cereal this past Saturday and he took to it like a champ and loves it. He gets it twice a day and eats all of it each time.

    How are YOU feeling?
I have my moments. Some days are better than others. Overall though I feel good. Fit into a pair of jeans I couldn't a month ago so that's a bonus.

    Questions or concerns?
Oh loads but what FTM doesn't lol.

When does/did baby turn 6 months?
    On Feb 28th...going too fast!!

    Any milestones hit?
Rolling both ways all the time, sitting up unassisted for short bursts... until she reaches for something.

Tell us about sleep, nighttime and naps-
Sleeping through the night. Should really extend her bedtime hours but then my husband would not see her at all through the week, so we try to make it until 730pm so he can put her down at least. Sleeps until 530-6 usually. Usually down for her first nap about 2 hours after waking, but this has been getting earlier lately. Naps throughout the rest of the day just go by how fussy she is getting and rubbing those little eyes.

    Weight and length?
No idea... so annoying. Don't have our appointment until the 22nd. She was just over 12 lbs at her 4 month check up. Looks like she had a bit of a growth spurt but still fitting into her 3 month onzies.

    Feeding solids yet?
We started with rice cereal, but after 3 days she had a hive like rash on her little bum. Went away after stopping the rice so we moved onto veggies. So far butternut squash, and carrots. Made peas and apples to try this week as well. Going to try oatmeal instead of rice as well.

    How are YOU feeling?
Pretty good, just tired. Takes a lot to keep this LO occupied all day. Going to start taking care of myself more, exercising and eating better so we will see how that goes...

    Questions or concerns?

Yup!...just FTM stuff lol. Is it supposed to look exactly like carrots in her diaper ?!? Lol...

    Any milestones hit?

Sitting unassisted for short periods of time
Food...he's been eating solids since 5months so he's had lots of veggies and a few fruits...he's even had peanut butter!
When he's on his tummy he pushes up frequently onto his arms and sometimes tries to get his butt up, but really can't manage to keep it up.

Tell us about sleep, nighttime and naps-
He goes to sleep between 6/7 and usually gets up once. He's been pretty good at self soothing...we've given him some comfort items in his crib and that has helped. Bedtime has been pretty easy lately.

Naps-He usually takes 3 a day or 2 really long ones. Sleep time usually totals around 3hrs.
I go by sleep cues but his awake time between naps is usually 2ish hours. Still napping in his swing. He goes down easy at bedtime in his crib, but that is not the case for naps. Swing is easy so I'm having a hard time getting myself to train him to sleep in the crib.

    Weight and length?
    19lbs and 27.25 inches

    Feeding solids yet?
Yes, lots. Our pediatrician is highly encouraging of it and doesn't have many limitations except for cows milk and honey.

    How are YOU feeling?
Ok. Dealing with a LOT of whining for about a week now. I'm sure it's teething but I also feel like he's frustrated with his lack of mobility. He's started to show a lot of interest in non toy items. And is starting to lunge a lot in various directions when I hold him. His curiosity makes me think he gets frustrated easily because I obviously don't know what he wants or where he wants to go. His activity gym and toys aren't cutting it for him these days. My mom has been helping out a lot lately so that's helped with giving me breaks, and H is great at taking over on the weekends.

    Questions or concerns?
This recent whining has me wondering how long will it last!

Rolling both ways when she feels like it, which isn't often.  Sitting unassisted pretty well, she can reach for objects without falling over. Started babbling the "D" sound, so it sounds like she's saying dada all day long.  Which daddy loves of course.

Tell us about sleep, nighttime and naps-
Naps have gotten a lot better.  Like a lot of you, her first nap is pretty predictable, then we just go by cues after that.
Nighttime has seemed to crumble a bit.  I'm assuming its a 6mo thing?  She'll sleep if I bring her into bed with me, I was hoping to avoid that though...

    Weight and length?
15lbs and 25.5in.  Shes slid down the curve a bit, but nothing concerning.

    Feeding solids yet?
Gave her a bit of avocado yesterday.  She wasn't impressed.

    How are YOU feeling?
I've been feeling emotional again leaving her when I go to work.  Not sure why thats cropping back up again.  She's always so happy and snuggling with daddy when I leave.  Maybe I'm jealous of that time.  Honestly wish I could just stay home with her.

    Questions or concerns?
Anyone giving LO Vit D?  Doc acted super shocked I wasn't.  (we've been doctor hopping after our fam doc quit and I'm having a hard time finding one I like!).  What brand are you giving?  I read I can take supplements and she'll get it thru boobmilk, but its a crazy amt Id have to take.
  • Options
@hejo2016 we have just been giving her ' baby D drops' liquid vit d drops. Super easy. They play the commercial for them about 10 times every morning and it was the only way I remembered to give it!
  • Options
We also give "baby d drops". My pediatrician told me that vitamin d does not pass through breastmilk so she advised us to give him supplements. It's only one drop. I used to put the drop right on my nipple before he would latch, but now he mostly gets bottles, so I'll put it in the milk or on his pacifier.
  • Options
    Cool, I'll check those out!

X has been getting a multivitamin since he was about two weeks old.
  • Options
We also are giving Baby D drops. I wouldn't know to give it either but our doctor told us at his 1 week appointment to start giving him the drops and then asks us at every appointment if we're still giving them.

    Any milestones hit?
He can sit in assisted for a couple minutes at a time. He's still not very stable but he only started sittting on his own about a week and a half ago. He still does not roll though.

Tell us about sleep, nighttime and naps-
Naps are good. We put him down about every 2-3 hours based on tiredness signals and that seems to work for us. He naps for 1-3 hours at a time.

Nights suck. We have to cosleep to get any sleep but when we cosleep he wants to nurse all night long. I think we're going to try CIO soon. I mentioned this to his doctor, who seemed less than enthused. I don't care. We have tried everything else and are at our wits end.

    Weight and length?
    16 lbs 14 oz, 27.5 inches long

    Feeding solids yet?
We're starting solids tonight! Going to give avocado a shot.

    How are YOU feeling?
I am okay. I am so happy with my kid and family life but don't like my job. I started a new position at the same company when I came back from maternity leave. I am bored beyond belief. I have only maybe 15-20 min of work a day. I took yesterday off to be with my boy after his shots. We spent the day cuddling, went to the park and then on a walk to the beach. I even made baby food for the week! I am so much happier doing this kind of stuff than being at work. I really want to quit my job!

Adding to this, we just had to put the dog I grew up with to sleep for undiagnosed illness he's been battling for months. I am so sad because we tried everything and he just kept getting worse. All this stress is causing me not to sleep at night. Sometimes I never get to sleep at all. Basically put, I am tired, stressed and sad.

    Questions or concerns?
None that I can think of.

  • Options
@Laraeq, boring jobs are the worst! The day just DRAGS! That sucks. Is staying home an option?
Sorry to hear about your dog. :(
And not sleeping at all sounds terrible!

  • Options
@Laraeq I'm sorry to hear about your dog. I know firsthand how difficult and sad it is to have to put a beloved pet down.

If quitting isn't an option, would parttime possibly work (since you aren't filling your days). Or can you convince your employer to let you work from home once or twice a week?

Thanks guys. We could probably afford for me not to work, but we live in a very high cost area. If we ever plan on owning a home then I need to work.

My office is supposed to switching to a flexible work schedule model where we don't have to come in everyday, but that won't start until Mid 2018 when we move into our new office. I'm trying to stay positive and focus on the fact that it's not too far away and my kid will only be 1.5 to 2 years old.

When does/did baby turn 6 months?
DS will be 6 months next Thursday!

    Any milestones hit?
He rolls both ways, sits up by himself for a short time, has his first teeth coming in and starting to say "mama...mamamama" haha.  started solids and has loved everything so far

Tell us about sleep, nighttime and naps-
He does NOT like to take naps! :( makes for a cranky baby some days.  Still wakes up at least once a night after we transitioned him to his crib (from sleeping in his swing).  But will sleep for hours in your arms.

    Weight and length?
    Will find out on 4/4

    Feeding solids yet?
We started solids (reluctently on my part) at about 4 1/2 months. He has loved everything we've given him.  He is very interested in Mommy and Daddy's food as well.

    How are YOU feeling?
There are good days and bad.  Overall I feel great!  Can't wait for the warm weather to come back so we can get outside!!  He loves going on walks but I cannot stand going out in the cold weather.

When does/did baby turn 6 months?

Not until Thursday on the 30th.

    Any milestones hit?

He sits up on his own now. He can also stay in the crawling position on his on for a few minutes.

Tell us about sleep, nighttime and naps-
He sleeps really well at night.

He is down to 2 naps a day. One in the morning and one in the afternoon. However, he sleeps ALLLL night from about 8pm to 6am!

    Weight and length?

Weight was 19lbs at Dr. office last week. Not sure on length.

    Feeding solids yet?

He only really likes sweet potatoes but over the last few days he has started to like green beans.
He went from only wanting to eat in the morning to wanting to eat with us at dinner now too.

    How are YOU feeling?

I feel great! Getting plenty of sleep makes a world of difference! I do have about 15lbs of baby weight to lose though :-( I won't be to hard on myself since that is down from the 50lbs I gained during this pregnancy. I haven't even started back up my daily running yet either. Trying to make sure my ligaments have fully recovered since I had SPD during pregnancy and it had an affect on my knees.

    Questions or concerns?

Anybody else hair still falling out??? I'm really getting worried because my hair is getting so thin and we are at 6 months post!!
  • Options
My hair is still falling out too. It comes out in clumps in the shower. It's all over everything at our house. I cannot wait for this to stop. Hopefully the end is on the horizon.

Mine still falling out too :( it is somewhat less. Or maybe that's because it's already so thin.
@jennlynn777 you were the one using goats milk weren't you? Is that still going well?

Yes I am! It is going fantastic!! I finally told his Ped. and his Gastro Specialist and they both seem to favor the idea since he is gaining and growing so well. Goat Milk was certainly a God-send for us!

When does/did baby turn 6 months?
    On March 24

    Any milestones hit?
He can sit unassisted for long periods and can push up from his stomach to a sitting position. No crawling yet but he is army crawling like a champ

Tell us about sleep, nighttime and naps-
His first nap is predictable about 2 hours after wake up but then after that he is not really consistent. Bedtime he has done much better the last 2 weeks going to be between 9 and 10 and sleeping till 830ish waking up once occassionally twice

    Weight and length?
17 lbs 12oz and 24.5 inches....he starting in the 905th percentil for height but has dropped now to the 39th but our doc says it's nothing to worry about

    Feeding solids yet?
Yep we have tried alot of different things his only dislike has been green beans. Our doctor today said he could also start drinking water and suggested we could add some garlic or cinnamon to the green beans to see if he likes them or to just mix it with some fruit.

    How are YOU feeling?
pretty good, the baby weight is bugging me a little but it's Just now starting to warm up so it will be easier for me to get a walk or jog in outside when im home with dylan

    Questions or concerns?
I don't think so, just waiting for him to get some teeth. Our doc today said he's had some kids not get their teeth in until they were 16month old and some as early as a few weeks so it's just whenever his teeth are ready

Hi! It's been a while. I'm glad people are still posting here. :)

When does/did baby turn 6 months?
She turned 6 months on March 19th.

    Any milestones hit?
She is an expert at rolling over and won't stop for anything. It's her chosen method of getting around. Still no interest in sitting/crawling but she does occasionally do a weird downward dog position thing or army crawl and she lifts her chest up with her arms. She'll get there... or go straight to walking like her dad and her cousin did. She has her first tooth and her second tooth showed up a few days ago. She babbles and laughs and grins.

Tell us about sleep, nighttime and naps-
Naps suck but are better. Nights used to be great but are worse. My milk supply is going down. We started solid foods but it's still heart breaking. It took me a VERY long time to get to EBF and now it's going away. Oh well, nothing lasts forever.

    Weight and length?
14 something pounds and 26 and a half inches. She's tall but still skinny. Doctor wanted us to start solids to see if it helps her weight gain. Have to have a check up at 7 and a half months. She's only just now doubled her weight. She was 7 pounds at birth.

    Feeding solids yet?
Yup! Her favorite food so far is carrots. She devoured an entire container the other night.

    How are YOU feeling?
I have good days and bad days. The depression has mostly subsided but I still get overwhelmed being a SAHM with my husband in the military. We finally have a separation date and now we have to deal with the stress of finding a home and a new job... but things are good for now.

I'm struggling with my weight. I didn't want to start dieting until after breastfeeding was over, but with my supply already dwindling... I started exercising instead, but I still weigh as much I did when I was pregnant. My arms are stronger at least, lol.

My c-section is still extremely tender and sore. I can't even clean the house without needing to lie in bed for hours afterward. Makes exercising hard. I intend to make a doctor appointment, but almost everyone says it's normal to have pain for years and years. But I want to make sure.

    Questions or concerns?
Any advice on getting baby to sit up? She's great at holding her head up, but if you try to make her sit she actually fights to lie back down

@jln27 I just sat her up a little each day while playing until she could do it on her own. We got a toy that she liked playing with while sitting that helped. I think it is just up to them when they are ready. People had some good suggestions in the toy thread.
