Had an over due appointment today. 40+1. I'm frustrated about it, there has been no changes. Still 1cm but I think she's just being nice about that. Looking at inducing in 10 days. F my life.
I really wish I had a weekly appt at this point. Last week (on Tuesday) I was 2 cm. I had contractions (though nothing super painful) all day yesterday! So I'm nosey and want to know what progress I've made. But my next appt isn't until next Wednesday 4/19 (if I'm still pregnant).
I had a routine appt today at 40+4 BP was fine, fundal height measuring 39.5 so within normal ranges, baby's HR was 139, and they estimated the baby at 7.5 lbs so we'll see about that haha. I had a cervical check and membrane sweep. She said I was 2cm and 70% effaced when last week I was 1-2 cm and 50% effaced so at least it's some progress I suppose. My next appt is wednesday afternoon to place the foley bulb, and then I go back Thursday morning at 5AM for the full induction if baby hasn't come yet.
Appointment for me tomorrow at 40+2. I'm not expecting anything exciting. Maybe a NST. Though, I am interested to see if any of the things I've been doing this past week have encouraged baby to move out of a posterior position. That would be nice.
If I'm still pregnant on Wednesday, I'm going to get my nails done.
Had my normal 39 week appointment today at 39+2. BP is fine. Baby sounded good. DD and my sister came along. The midwives are always so sweet to DD. They let her help measure my belly, which is perfectly on track and they let her use the doppler to find the heartbeat. She actually found it right away, which made her so happy.
Then my sister took DD to the waiting room and the midwife did a membrane sweep. She obviously left it up to me whether or not I wanted one. She said she generally discourages FTMs from doing a sweep before at least 40 weeks. But, she said STM+ have cervixes that are generally more easily influenced so she said as long as the cervix is open at least enough to get her finger through she will do them at 39 weeks and beyond. So, last Tuesday at 38+3 my cervix was 1cm and I was about 50% thinned. This time, after the sweep, I was 2cm but still about 50%. The sweep did hurt, but I just closed my eyes and breathed through it. The midwife was very impressed with how I handled the pain. Cervix checks really never hurt me, so this was way different than a normal check for me. *TMI* She pulled out her hand, which was super bloody. She seemed pretty happy about that. She said lots of bloody show is a good sign that at least the sweep did what it was supposed to do. So, I had the same feeling of lots of pressure that I did after my last cervix check last week, for a few hours. This time I was also bleeding like a light period for a few hours and I am still spotting a bit 5 hours later. I'm not sure if I am cramping any more than normal, though I was already pretty crampy so it is hard to tell. I have a strong feeling the sweep isn't really doing anything.
So, I set up another appointment for Friday morning if I am still pregnant where they will check me and give me another sweep. Really hoping I don't have to be there, but I have a feeling I will be.

NST tomorrow and midwife appointment Wednesday. I've been having lots of strong contractions - not painful, but distracting and there were a few I had to breathe through. Although I don't think I'll be going into labor anytime soon. I don't know what my midwife wants to do this next appointment though. I want Bean to stay put for another week or two, especially since I'm only 37w5d and my first day of maternity leave is on Friday. I just want to be able to enjoy my leave a little bit.
This baby must feel like her doctor is her second home. She went for her first well appointment last Thursday, where she was doing fine. Then she had a weight check the next day. On Monday we woke up to pus and gunk in her eyes, so back to the doc we went. Her weight was up 5 oz from birth weight which is great. She has conjunctivitis though. We had a hard time getting our hands on the right antibiotic but we've applied it twice and it seems tombs improving. Then in the afternoon on Monday we went to the ENT to get her tongue tie revised. That went well. Her next scheduled appointment is her two week well appointment on April 18.

@mrsstuessy, they won't sweep me yet, but the doc who did my check yesterday was pretty aggressive (and she's got the smallest hands!) so I've had spotting since yesterday. I don't ever remember having that in previous pregnancies! Here's to my false sense of hope that it's a good thing.
I just left my 38 week appt. I'm just barely dilated to 1cm and my cervix is still very high. I know I can stay like this for a while and it's really not much progress, but it felt nice to know that I'm at least a tiny bit dilated haha . I'm at peace with it since I still have 2 weeks to go before my due date and a lot can happen in that time.
i have another growth scan scheduled for next Wednesday, if she's continuing to measure on the larger side we'll discuss a possible c-section. Otherwise my OB won't consider induction until after 41 weeks, which is fine by me. Hopefully she'll come before that, but all I can do is wait and see
@Lovable Bump I seem to be in a similar situation as you. We just came back from our 38 week appointment and they measured our guy again and he is at 8lb 4 oz so they are going to keep monitoring his size at the appointments. Doctor doesn't want me to go past 41 weeks but mentioned a c section if he gets to 9 1/2 pounds because they are worried about having to do an emergency one if his shoulders can't come out. I'm feeling really depressed about this today. Also doctor told us I am not dilated at all but about 60% effaced. I was really hoping he would be getting here sooner rather than later.
@aboxofchocolates i completely know the feeling, I was hoping for an easter baby, especially since she's been consistently measuring at least a week ahead from the very beginning . Hang in there, we've made it this far and our babies will be here before we know it (hopefully soon!)
on a side note, I called DH to tell him about my appointment and when I told him I was barely 1cm dilated, he was so excited that you would think he was an Oprah's Favorite Things audience member hahah. I explained that it's really not much, but he was still just as excited. He definitely keeps me in good spirits
Had my appt today at 40+2. Heartbeat, BP, and fundal measurement all good. My midwives don't do cervical checks unless you want them, and I decided not to. Buuuuut, she did say if I decide I want a membrane sweep, I can just call and ask to come in whenever, and they'll fit me in. I have a feeling if I'm still pregnant on Friday, I will be very, VERY tempted...
Made appointments for a BPP next Monday (41+1) and a NST next Wednesday (41+3) if I still need them. Please, please, please don't let me need them.
Have Ellery's two week appointment tomorrow morning. I am curious to see what she's weighing these days - hoping to be back up to birth weight if not more!
On a side note pretty sure after this appointment we are switching doctors for her. Our town seriously has no peds and no great family doctors. I wasn't a big fan of DS's doc (so I always take him to the PA who is awesome) so we thought we'd try a different one for DD...Yeah I don't care for him either which sucks cause I love his nurse, his office is WAY faster to get in a and out of than DS's, and plus I feel guilty for switching. I know I need to do whatever I feel most comfortable with and what's best for my kids but I still feel guilty. Guess we'll add her to the same doc as DS and just see the PA when we need to.
Lucy has her follow up appointment tomorrow morning. She's low/moderate risk of jaundice and is a little yellow. Waaaah. She's just not eating well and it's stressing me out. Met with the LC again today to see what more can be done and so I may be pumping until my milk really comes in. Lucy just doesn't seem to want to work at it--shell latch and then fall asleep as though she hopes the milk will just fall out and she doesn't have to do anything. So she's just not eating enough and I'm afraid she'll have lost a lot of weight. We'll find out tomorrow I guess.
We had our weight/jaundice check on Monday, and she's gaining again thanks to supplementing (and not dehydrated! we have wet diapers again!). The jaundice has also gone away now that she has finished passing the meconium (instead of a couple of giant meconium poops in the first couple of days, she had like 5 days of what I called meconium sharts because it was such a small amount coming out at one time ).
Also had our lactation home visit and it was...awful. She only pulled 0.25 oz after a 45 minute nursing session, which...sucks. When she latches, she's great, but she refuses to latch at least 50% of the time and then she just loses her mind. I make sure that I pump every time she takes a supplement, but I'm not producing much. We've got some strategies to try to help get her off of the supplement and back to the breast, but the LC (both that I've talked to during this pregnancy) is not super optimistic that my supply will be enough, given my history and how things are going thus far. So, we'll see how things go for the next week or so but it's looking like I'm not going to be able to breastfeed this baby either. Fingers cross that we find something that works for us, or that my full supply is just delayed due to the c-section.
@Beckyf321 she's been all levels of naked and clothed as I've tried it all. Tickling and cold wet wipes and changing positions. But last night she ate for the longest amount of time without sleeping and I'm feeling better. Still no wet diapers since yesterday afternoon though so we'll see what doc says.
@HGRich We were told that they should have one wet diaper for every day of life until they're 6 days old, then at least 6 wets every day thereafter. So, day 1 they need 1 wet, day 2 they need 2, etc. They are getting by with colostrum for the first few days and that won't produce a ton of volume for urine output. And it's normal for EBF babies to lose a fair amount of weight; it's not until they lose more than 10% and are having no wet diapers that our ped got concerned with DS. Good luck with the follow up today!
Well Lucy has lost 11%. I'm so upset. I know she's been having trouble but they haven't asked me to supplement and want me to keep trying but it is stressing me out. But since my milk came in yesterday afternoon and she's eaten better since (I think! I wish I knew!) they aren't going to have me do anything. But I'm going to have her on the boob all the time for the next 24 hours if I can and I set up an LC appt for tomorrow to see if she's gained anything in the next 24. Of course that means no sleep for me but whatever. I've gotten about three hours of sleep each day for the last four. She's a little less sleepy and more alert today so that gives me hope.
@SnarkasaurusRex that's what I was told too. I mentioned today she's had one each for each day she's been alive (wet and dirty) and he wasn't worried today, since I told him last night was a really good night and I'm hoping today continues to go well. Sigh. So stressful. But I know you know--and I'm sorry for your frustration now too.
@HGRich, try not to freak out. If you had an IV during your labor/birth then that makes you and the baby puff up and retain fluid, so the birth weight is going to be inflated. So it's not uncommon to lose a bit more than 10% in a situation like that. It sounds like you are doing all the right things and a great job with nursing so hang in there. The LC can do a weighted feed so you know right then how many oz baby took from a feed.
@HGRich I kinda had the same situation with DS. I'm so lucky that my hospital offers an in-home nurse visit 1-2 weeks postpartum. I was letting DS just sleep, when she mentioned "Oh, this little guy is hungry'" after he yawned. I had no idea I was missing hunger cues- the opening of his hands, yawning, etc. After that, I started going to the weekly breastfeeding support group the hospital offers, just to be able to weigh him each week. At his 2 week appointment, DS was 1 oz shy of his birth weight, but the pedi said he wasn't at all concerned. After that, weight gain and breastfeeding became much easier. His mouth got stronger, and he was much more alert. You are doing a great job and it will get so much easier.
Thank you all. I know it's only been a few days and I may see dramatic improvement in a few more. I hope. @catem07 there are--one on Tuesdays at the peds and one on Wednesdays at the hospital. I'm thinking of doing both next week.
Just had my 37 week appointment. Now 60-70% effaced, but still 1cm. OB thinks I still have another 2 weeks. I'm so anxious to not be pregnant anymore, but I guess I can wait another 2 weeks.
@MWoodside I'm sorry. That is such a huge bummer! I felt the same when I hadn't changed from last week to this week. I am just praying that tomorrow there is something happening.

Oh also, I mentioned my leg has been hurting a lot for 3 days. Since I have a clotting issue she is sending me for an ultrasound of my leg this afternoon to rule out a blood clot.
@MWoodside please do keep us posted. And I'm sorry you've not seen any change either.
As an update, we saw the LC again today and she's gained 2oz in a bit over 24 hours. We did a weighed half feeding because she was hungry before we left and did one side at home and the other at the appointment. She's definitely getting something each time, and I feel so relieved. Still concerned about the jaundice, but the doctor didn't need to follow up unless we saw it worsen, so we're just gonna keep an eye on it. We've had two dirties and two wets in the last 12 hours and I'm so happy! Proof of improvement!
@HGRich 2 ounces in just over 24 hours is great. We went for a weight check today and the pediatrician said that they consider an ounce a day good after the initial loss.
Just had my weekly appointment at 37w5d. No change, cervix completely closed. Discussing scheduling induction at my appointment (not actually inducing, just discussing) next Friday so this baby WILL be born by May 7.
