STM+ Check-In 4/5 (sample)

Re: STM+ Check-In 4/5 (sample)

  • @missbmama awww I have a Zeke (Ezekiel) too!

@marycatherine0523 last pregnancy we moved out of our duplex in late August, packed everything into a storage unit, and lived with my grandma in a teeny, tiny bedroom until we closed on a house in mid-November. I had my son on Oct 2. So we moved once while I was 8ish months pregnant and then again with a 1.5month old! With a PCS move, it should be pretty nice because you'll have movers and all you'll need to do is pack up! One thing that worried me was that I didn't have a nursery "ready" - hahaha, baby slept with us and in his diaper changing table part of a pack n play for the first 3 months anyway! Best of luck to you, I'm looking forward to hearing about your journey back to the States!

@vvitchhazel I'm chiming in with the others who recommend the Snoogle. I will say that some nights even the miracle Snoogle didn't help me sleep but I was very thankful to have it, especially later on in pregnancy.

I have one, Isla James that is about to turn 3 this month!

Current challenges/concerns about being a STM: My kid is a redheaded handful, I have no idea how we are going to manage another.

Current joys/successes/or happy thoughts about being a STM : My husband is BEYOND excited at the thought it could possibly be a boy...  I don't think it's hit me yet.

Rants/Raves/Randoms/Questions/  I feel like I'm cheated on my A14 board since I'm here!  The girls from my last board are some of my best friends to this day!

GTKY: SAHM?  Working mom? (If yes to later, what do you do) SAHM/semi working?  Just got laid off and doing a lot of crafting.
  • @joytomylifex I was so nervous to tell my J16 girls that I was on TB again. I felt like I was cheating too!

  • @kbamomma33 @missbmama  Thanks ladies, I am sure it will be fine but I just can't help but worry about it! I think DD will like helping with the new baby so I will be sure to encourage that.
  • Due date: Dec 3

    Other kids: Ta'Leyah- 16 months

Challenges: My LO is being really clingy so I'm a bit worried she won't adjust well right away

Current joys: my babies will be close in age which is something I've always wanted my Sisters and I have a 7-15 year age gap and it was so hard to relate to them.

GTKY:  I am currently a SAHM and I am loving it :) before I worked at a Starbucks.

    Ezra Logan

Current challenges/concerns about being a STM
Just always only had to focus on one baby. I'm especially nervous about the newborn stage and not being able to soak in every moment because I'll be chasing my tot! Lol

Current joys/successes/or happy thoughts about being a STM :
Ezra loves babies so much and I can't wait for him to have his own that will grow into his friend!

    Rants/Raves/Randoms/Questions/
Which is harder? Transition from 1 to 2, or 2 to 3?

GTKY: SAHM?  Working mom? (If yes to later, what do you do)
    SAHM and I looooove it!
  • @alyssaleighw I have been told by lots of moms of 2+ that the transition from 1 to 2 is by far the hardest and that after that it's like "nothing" but I would love to hear from others here as wel. I would imagine 2-3 would be a bigger adjustment because you are moving from man on man coverage to zone coverage but so many others have told me no.

  • EDD: December 17th (I found out really early)

Other children: Grayson will be 3 in May and Amelia turned 1 in March.

Current challenges/ concerns: I had HG with both previous pregnancies and it was terrible. I'm also nervous about having 3 so close in age. I don't feel like I've gotten enough time with my daughter yet and I'm worried about being able to give all three the attention they deserve.

Current joys: I not experiencing any symptoms yet!

Rants/Raves/Randoms/Questions: why did my OB have to move 3 hours away? Now I have to find a new one :(

GTKY: I'm a sahm which I absolutely love!
I had HG with my DD, too.  Hoping this time we don't have to deal with this!!  <3

    I have 2 little ones - Norah (2y, 4m) and Linus (1st bday is this weekend, 4/17)

Current challenges/concerns about being a STM
Telling family or being out in public with 2 babies and a big belly (eventually). Got some side eye when I bought my pile of test with my kids in tow. While my family would be thrilled, I think at first it would be like "omg SLOW DOWN." My hubby and I are both the babies of our families, so it's hard to be the ones popping out babies lol! Also, my hubby's family has no other kids in it - they love our kids, but they're definitely much more cautious, practically to a fault sometimes (ie, some decisions take them years while usually they take others a few months to a year type of deal) when it comes to big life decisions and sometimes even miss opportunity windows due to that (i.e., doesn't look like his siblings will be having kids because they're both older and have dragged their feet so long that unfortunately they have now been having trouble conceiving :( I hope they are able to, though - they would be amazing parents and I'd love some cousins on DH's side for my kiddos!)
I'm also worried about 3 under 3 - what are the logistics? How do I go out with them alone? How to handle all their needs! Yikes

  • Sorry - it kept cutting me off!

I'm excited to see our family grow so close together - I hope they're good friends :)

ihave no concerns other than - how and when do I tell people? My appt isn't until May.

I am a part time elementary art teacher but I am leaving at the end of this school year to be a SAHM and teach local mommy/caregiver and me art playgroups to kids ages birth-preK and their grown ups. Wish me luck! :)

  • I am a little sad this time around.  Of course I am excited to be having another baby but I feel sad that my kids are so far apart in age.  I wish I had another sooner rather than later.  My DD will be about 4.5 when this one arrives.  I know she will be a huge help but I want them to be close growing up.  We will probably have a third baby a lot closer to this 2nd one.

I have 2 sisters who are older than me.  They are 8 years and 6.5 years older than me.  I was closer with the 2nd one growing up and the older one and I it feels like we hardly know each other, even as adults.  I don't think that has to do with the age gap, though...but I do remember lots of things my 2nd sister and I were not able to do together because of our age gap.   As adults it doesn't make any difference of course...but as kids it did.

I just have sad feelings because of all these extra hormones right now.  I know my dd will be the best big sister she can be...I just feel sad.

    thanks for reading...

@mrsorigami my brothers are 9 and 12 years older than me (my mom had to wait to have me because of meds for severe asthma). I know what you mean - I felt like an only child growing up sometimes, especially when they moved out during/after college. However, I always felt loved and looked after by my big brothers, and I wouldn't trade them or the sisters in law and nieces/nephews they gave me for the world! We're getting closer now that we're adults and all have families. I think 4.5 years is nuthin' - your kids will be close I'm sure :) I know my hubby is 3 years younger than his sister, and 6 years younger than his brother...honestly I think he's socially closer to his bro. They talk on the phone all the time and you'd never guess there were 6 years between them! Don't sweat it - it's very nice that you have a sibling for your girl, she's already so lucky :)

Caia is a little over 8 months old

Current challenges/concerns about being a STM: She will still be so young when the new one arrives! My brother and I are only 17 months apart, so a pretty similar gap, so I know it can be done. It just seems crazy to me now. (plus she's our first, so I only have a vague idea of what she'll be like when the baby is born; I certainly know other babies, but when the milestones occur isn't completely clear to me until she hits them)

Current joys/successes/or happy thoughts about being a STM : We wanted two, so this should complete our family! Also, DD is so adorable at this age--looking forward to going through it all over again

Rants/Raves/Randoms/Questions/ Anyone else have kiddos close together (or about to have them close together)?

GTKY: SAHM?  Working mom? (If yes to later, what do you do) Working outside the home--I'm a college professor, which at least allows for some flexibility.

ETA: still breastfeeding DD and I am worried this pregnancy will mess up our goal to breastfeed to one year. :-( Preparing myself that we may need to supplement (which I know is fine; I know plenty of happy, healthy formula babies, but you know--mom guilt)

  • @cait5413 my daughter is 16.5m older than my son :) he'll be one on Sunday! We get by just fine...Norah isn't a huge "people person" lol but she tolerates him - I catch her giggling at him when I'm not looking :) I'm sure they'll be besties once he's less like a baby (ie, crawling into her face, drooling all over all of her stuff, popping her balloons...) and more like a "big kid" like her ;) You'll do great! Babywear, and get a good double stroller - otherwise, you've got this

  • @kvacmak my supply seems to be dwindling, too. I am not sure I will be able to keep pumping enough...and I am also not sure how much she is getting "from the tap" these days. I have a little freezer stash, but at this rate it will be gone before we hit the year mark. I'll just do as much as I can! She is a good eater and loves food, so at least she's not depending on me 100% anymore.

Jolie turned 1 on Feb 22
Current challenges/concerns about being a STM
Super unsure how to manage breastfeeding, naps, everything both children need
Current joys/successes/or happy thoughts about being a STM :
Can't wait to see how loving Jolie will be to her sibling, so glad I don't have to go back to work this time around and feeling so blessed to be pregnant again!
    Rants/Raves/Randoms/Questions/
What 3 row vehicle do people have and do you love and recommend it?? We are hoping to have possibly one or two more after this even so more space will be necessary!
GTKY: SAHM?  Working mom? (If yes to later, what do you do)
I was a teacher for 5 years, now I'm a SAHM except for the days my MIL has Jolie and I substitute teach (how funny we both do that- @ilikestars089 )
@heathergirl89 You killed me with the "breastfeeding is ouchie" comment... I would add that I definitely am a bit intimidated by starting all of that over again!

  • @jstud - do you enjoy subbing? I thought I would like the flexibility and being able to leave work at work but I haven't liked it as much as I thought I would. :(

also, 3rd row vehicle- we just got a 2012 Honda Pilot and I love it! I really didn't want a minivan. The Pilot is big but doesn't look or feel TOO big, it has a rear back up camera (something I've never had in a car!) and the seats are all so spacious. The 3rd row folds down but even with the seats up there is still a big space for stuff in the back. The newer models have other really neat safety features, depending on the year. I highly recommend!

Current challenges/concerns about being a STM
None! Other than the fact that we are in the process of moving into a small 2 bedroom home, and we'll be now outgrowing it a lot sooner than we anticipated lol

Current joys/successes/or happy thoughts about being a STM :
4 years ago, we were told that my husband would never father children of his own (DD was conceived via sperm donor.) we were SO excited & surprised to find out that we conceived naturally this time around! so I am just soaking everything in, because I know this is truly a one-in-a-million pregnancy for us!

    Rants/Raves/Randoms/Questions/
Did any of you mamas still breastfeed while pregnant? How did it go for you? I was still planning on nursing my daughter for quite some time yet, and I'm a little worried that I'll have to wean her sooner than I'd like? Looking for positive stories.

@ilikestars089 I actually really like subbing but i have a unique situation. I pretty much only sub at the school where I taught for 5 years so I'm frequently subbing in a class of old students or for a work friend so it's a good gig.
I feel dumb for not knowing a Pilot has 3 rows! That's good to know we will look at some

  • Last time I used a Snoogle and I loved it! I plan on using it again this time around.
