Re: Fit mama check in 4/3
2: What are your goals for the week ahead? My mother in law leaves Friday, so I'm trying to slowly take back over doing more things around the house now that I can move around better.
3: How was last week? Good!! I got out most days, and got out for some walks over the weekend
4: Any new challenges or needed modifications you want to share??still having to take it easy/slow since I'm still sore where my stitches were. But each day is getting easier and easier.
5: How are/have you treated your self? Celebrate your body and its accomplishments! Went and got a pedicure on Friday with MIL since it was her bday. Oh. My. God. It felt SO good to have my feet rubbed!! AND DH watched DS while we went.
6: Questions, Concerns, Rants, Raves, Randoms? I found a challenge that I thought I'd see if you guys were interested in? It looks like the kind of thing most of us will be able to do soon?
Also as a random, think I'm going to try out pumping later this week. Thought it'd be nice for DH to be able to give DS a bottle at night after work so they can have more bonding time. I think DH is feeling a little left out at the moment since he's so little and can't feed him.
7: GTKY: What's your favorite health/wellness website or social media account? Lately I've been following a few people on instagram (diaryofafitmommy, makeitworkmama). Need to start finding more options to get healthy food options/ideas though.
2: What are your goals for the week ahead? FINALLY have my baby! Keep up with the walking/yoga/activity as much as I can & stay hydrated.
3: How was last week? Mostly good with everything except it's felt like an emotional rollercoaster. I did yoga & walked each day and Friday was my last day of work. Was told at my appt. on Wed. that I'd need to be induced at 41 weeks, so I had a membrane sweep Friday & have been trying to use my pump, have sex, eat spicy food, & try whatever else I can to get things moving...
4: Any new challenges or needed modifications you want to share?? Realizing I may not get the birth I was hoping for if I need to be induced and just coming to terms with that I guess. Since I'm already dilated/effaced enough they're going to immediately break my water & start me on Pitocin if/when it happens. DH & I went to my doctor this afternoon and got the induction pushed back from tomorrow to Thursday, so it gives baby boy 2 more days to come on his own....fingers crossed he does!
5: How are/have you treated your self? Celebrate your body and its accomplishments! DH & I went out to dinner Saturday for our last pre-baby date night at our favorite restaurant. Between yesterday & today I ate a whole carton of frozen yogurt...I feel like I've been splurging a lot with the food lately, each day thinking "this could be my last time eating (....) before the baby..."
6: Questions, Concerns, Rants, Raves, Randoms? I feel like I'm gonna be the last "March" mom to give birth...it makes me sad & impatient, but at the same time I'm so happy for each new birth that happens for our group and I love seeing all the baby photos & reading about things everyone else is experiencing because I learn so much & feel much more prepared as a FTM. So even if I will have the baby-baby of the bunch I'm glad to have had an edd toward the end of the month to gain as much insight as possible.
7: GTKY: What's your favorite health/wellness website or social media account? Hm I really only use Facebook - some of the health/wellness pages I like on it are: Prevention Magazine, Forks Over Knives, Barre3, Food Inc, Food Matters, and some running ones.
2: What are your goals for the week ahead? STILL on the vertigo boat. Just trying to survive. Been eating anything and everything - so this week is the start of cleaning up eating. 1st on the list --- overnight oats every day for breakfast from now on. **hint hint--super easy awesome breakfast for moms**
7: GTKY: What's your favorite health/wellness website or social media account? Hmmm... idk. Fitness Blender? I spend most of my "fitness" time on YouTube just puzzling together workouts from different ppl. Don't really have a favorite website or social media account. Favorite ppl are other moms who share the struggle of balancing life of motherhood and also fitting in the health and wellness for themselves and their families.
--hope pumping/bottle goes well! It's so hard in this stage/age when baby really doesn't "need" hubby and they feel left out. Natalie doesn't even want to take a passifier so DH is feeling really unable to help and left out, even though it's his second time around and he knows this is the way it works.
@serenity13 I'm glad you were able to talk to th doc and get things pushed a few days! I hope baby decides to come on his own! And if he doesn't that you can feel positive about your decision to wait another few days to trust your body can do this on its own. I'm glad you got to go out one last time and hope you can continue to be positive and find enjoyment (as hard as it is) in the last days of this season of expectancy! And though I know it's hard being the last to deliver with a due date. Since I was the last with a February EDD, clearly it's just saving the best for last
2. Goals: first- to go outside! We are still in the hospital and will not be discharged until tomorrow. Feeling a bit more mobile after my c section today. I haven't had fresh air in so long, I may try to just step outside at least on my walk today. Trying to walk a few mins longer each day. The whole induction and birth following my BP crash and response to the epidural bolster was pretty hard on my body- I've had a lot of swelling in response to the pit and epidural. Also goal is for my milk to come in. Oscar lost more than 10% over the last few days so I was really disappointed to learn I have to supplement with formula. I'm still breastfeeding him what little I have though, and pumping in hopes my milk is not far off.
6: I still can't believe I'm a mom! I'm feeling so lucky and so grateful to have Oscar. He's adorable and I am so in love!!!!
7. I can't say I'm devoted to any particular site, but rather seem to stumble across good tips, articles, ideas or workouts on Pinterest.
@serenity13 thinking of you! I know how hard the long wait is, and how disappointing an induction can be. I'm sure if it does come to that- you'll only need a little help from the pit to get things going! Sounds like your body is nearly there! Mine wasn't, which was why mine went the way it did. Stay strong, can't wait to hear that your little guy is finally here! So close!
@kjd291 I can't believe you still have the vertigo! Ugh! So sorry mama! When do you see the doctor? And you are so close to 6 weeks!! Rounding the corner- can't wait to hear how it goes for you getting back to workouts!!
Doctors Appt Monday! Can't wait! Even though I will most likely just leave with no answers and more doctors to go see and tests to be taken. But it's a start!
@kjd291 stitches have dissolved, but the area I had stitched still gets irritated and sore when I move a lot (I think mostly from the friction). It's in a location where the skin kind of folds and rubs against each other when you walk. So trying to find the balance between getting out and moving but resting enough for that area to completely heal.
Also, if everyone does like that challenge idea, we can start it maybe in a couple weeks once everyone is feeling ready or something?
@npaulie yes I also really like that challenge! I've never heard of a couple of those moves though so I'll have to check out that site and see if they have examples so I know what to do!
@jenny0228 awww Oscar is so precious!! So glad you're already able to start moving around more and I hope you get some fresh air today!
bug hugs!! You've got this!!
@kjd291 what did your midwife say sbout your muscle separation?
guys I'm still in the hospital!! My BP spiked and they are trying to get it under control with meds. It's moving in the right direction but not quite there. And yesterday, I had some crazy pain coming out of nowhere- I guess in some c sections the nerves in your belly can fire up as they are reconnecting. It felt like someone was burning me from the inside with a branding iron. I couldn't talk- the nurse took one look at me and the doctor rushed in. They gave me a lidocaine patch and upped my pain meds. Now that's under control. Still waiting for my milk to come in- but many positive signs this morning that it will! I'm still feeding and pumping and supplementing with formula.
I'm so sorry your BP is still high & that you had to deal with the extra pains, that's awful! You're so incredibly strong though, I'm so impressed by the grace you've had throughout this whole time! Hoping you get cleared today & hope your milk comes in soon too!❤
@serenity13 good luck today!!! Yay for making your LO an outside baby!! Hope things go great and that you still have a positive experience even though the birth isn't going exactly to plan. Creepy internet hugs!!
@jenny0228 gahhh! I'm so sorry you're still there and having so many issues! I'm glad at least you're both there together and they haven't made one of you discharge separately! I'm glad you can have the extra support as your BFing! And glad you're okay! Prayers you get a jailbreak soon though!!
What restrictions come with a CS??
I just started lightly working out this week. 6 wk pp after c-section. I feel good and probably going to do more intense workouts next week. The soreness above my incision finally went away so now I feel better about working out.
Jillian Michael's 30 day shred level one lol!
Going to PM you all for Instagram names - that and TB are my only social media.
6 weeks today!
2: What are your goals for the week ahead?
Got my first PP workout done! I want to get outside, brisk walks, stretch, and do some DVDS. At least ONE physical activity per day even if it's 15 min.
3: How was last week?
Getting over all the illnesses
4: Any new challenges or needed modifications you want to share??
See #3 - We have been dealing with illnesses, plus I have been pulling random back muscles lifting things like the car seat, laundry, carrying stuff up and down stairs, etc. But I think doing more strength training will help avoid more injuries
6: Questions, Concerns, Rants, Raves, Randoms?
Random #1 Tomorrow I'm bringing my baby into my gym! So she'll meet my workout buddies and trainers! Seeing them is huge motivation to get back to it!
Random #2 I look absurd in my sports bras - trying to cram these things into a normal size bra is a joke!
7: GTKY: What's your favorite health/wellness website or social media account?
Huge Instagram fan! I used to follow a lot of fitness people but I deleted them when I took a break from working out HA! I think I was just feeling guilty.
So glad to have you ladies to motivate me! It means so much!
@jenny0228 be gentle with yourself post CS. My middle daughter was a CS, and the recovery was slower than I wanted it to be. I also had a lot of swelling that when I got home from the hospital I hadn't lost any weight! Yet I had a 7lb. baby. I personally had a long journey to heal physically and emotionally as well. Our bodies went through so much trauma to have these babies! So they can use TLC and rest.
@Cbeanz thanks for the c section advice- I had so much swelling due to so many of the factors of my delivery including days of pit and the reaction to the epi bolster. It looks like I'm still 6 months pregnant. It's pretty frustrating. My legs are like tree trunks! All the doctors assured me it is normal given the circumstances but it's a bummer. I'm so bad at taking it easy but I know I need to.
At least we came home today! 9 days in the hospital was enough!! So happy to be home!!
Tracking the journey! 1wk, 3wks, 5wks postpartum! Our bodies are so amazing how they shrink all on their own! ... cuz I haven't been helping the process. Hah. all I'm doing is eating is pizza, cookies, and ice cream.
25lbs to loose to get to pre-baby weight.
Wahoo @mcdonald-bailey & @Cbeanz for PP workouts!!! I want to do something soo bad but know I need to continue to let me body heal. Just bc I can't see it needing to heal doesn't mean it doesn't exist. (Mantra lol)
1: How many weeks or days left to go / weeks or days post-partum? 3 weeks pp today!
2: What are your goals for the week ahead? Continue to rest.
3: How was last week? Bleeding has dialed back a ton which even though it's been tough to rest I Def attribute to it. I was go go go after ds and bled foooorrrreeeever.
4: Any new challenges or needed modifications you want to share??
5: How are/have you treated your self? Celebrate your body and its accomplishments!
I got a 30 min nap today!
6: Questions, Concerns, Rants, Raves, Randoms?
7: GTKY: What's your favorite health/wellness website or social media account
: I don't really follow anything online. Maybe my stroller strides group. I JUST started using instagram lol. I feel soooo behind the curve here haha so maybe I'll start following people..I can't imagine I'd actually post anything myself though.
@npaulie I'm definitely up for the challenge you shared. I noticed I have some separation this am! It's less than 2cm though.
@jenny0228 So glad you guys got home! That has to be such a relief!!
@Cbeanz I've heard that moving comfort is pmuch one of the best nursing sports bras.
Just posted in the birth announcements, Chase is here!!!!!
