I have a son, Jameson just turned 3.5 last week. He's been asking for a baby for awhile now so I hope he's as excited when that becomes a reality Haha

Current challenges/concerns about being a STM
My current challenge is keeping up with his energy because he has ALOT of it.  My biggest concern long term is definitely time management and how I'm going to be able to continue to "do it all"

Current joys/successes/or happy thoughts about being a STM :
This has been a long time coming. Right now I'm just soaking it all in that this is really happening and that my little guy may get to be a big brother after all because there were many times over the last two years that I wasn't sure if it would ever happen.

    Rants/Raves/Randoms/Questions/
@vvitchhazel  yes- I had the snoogle and LOVED it. I definitely need to get a new one because I think I have mine to my SIL a couple of years ago!

My current rant is my nausea that is coming in hard and fast. My rave is I just did my beta and I'm excited to get the results. Trying to stay positive!!

GTKY: SAHM?  Working mom? (If yes to later, what do you do)

i am a working mom; I run a financial assistance department for a hospital and I also bartend 1 night a week for extra cash and sanity lol.

  • @Marley629 Thanks! That's the one I've heard the most positive reviews about.

  • @vvitchhazel I second the snoogle! I loved it during my first pregnancy and can't wait to use it this time around too.
  • Aw @kvacmak I have done the crying at bedtime as well. So many emotions. Solidarity lovetit momma.
  • @missbmama My parents have two Great Danes! They're not puppies anymore, but they're from the same litter. What a handful!

  • @vvitchhazel Our Penny is 9 months and Percy is 8 months! We plan to have a litter next year and I'm so excited lol. They are the biggest loveballs I've ever owned and they're HUGE! I'm excited because this pregnancy kicked my husband in gear and now we are fencing in our front yard so that they can be outside during the day this summer lol.
  • @missbmama Remy and Bo (both girls) will be 3 this summer. They are absolutely monstrous, but they're incredibly sweet. They just really don't know their size.  :D

  • @marycatherine0523 I moved last time I was pregnant, but not quite as far as you! We just moved an hour away. We're actually looking for a new place right now (a half hour away), since our place will be too small for two kiddos. It was pretty nerve wracking, especially since no one let me do anything!

  • @marycatherine0523 I moved (only about an hour and a half away) when I was pregnant with DS and we are currently pending a decision on a house we put an offer in so may be moving again pregnant.  I'm hands on so the hardest part was not being able to help - Bc no one would let me!  I think just remember that everything will fall into place and take deep breaths

Adelina Nadine will be 16 months on the 13th

Current challenges/concerns about being a STM
My daughter spoiled me by being a wildly efficient nurser for the first year. Only one breast per feeding from the day she was born, and she would finish a nursing session in 4 minutes by the time she was a few months old. She never ever fell asleep nursing. Now, she nurses every two or three hours at most, around the clock, and goes from one side to the other over and over. I don't offer to nurse, but she shouts "nurse!" as she pulls at my clothes. My biggest challenge is to help her find other ways to relax. Also, she doesn't let anyone else put her to sleep, so I never leave her for more than two or three hours.

Current joys/successes/or happy thoughts about being a STM :
My daughter loves babies, so I'm hoping she'll be excited. My brother has been my best friend my entire life, so I'm looking forward to aiding in that sibling bond.

I wear Adelina and walk at least 6-8 miles a day when the weather is nice - I guess I should start practicing a back carry!

GTKY: SAHM?  Working mom? (If yes to later, what do you do)
SAHM mostly by necessity, as I can't imagine my kid letting anyone else watch her. However, I have taken some makeup clients and a few quick singing gigs here and there in the past year and a half. My husband and I also own a website development company; I do the design and he does the coding.

      Zachary is 14 months

Current challenges/concerns about being a STM: I'm trying not to get ahead of myself, so focusing on short term: I have NO idea where I'm going to find the energy to keep up with a toddler while pregnant! Thankfully, Z still takes 2 naps a day so I'll have to ditch my cleaning routine and join him for at least one of those.

Current joys/successes/or happy thoughts about being a STM : I'm excited for my kids to grow up together!

Rants/Raves/Randoms/Questions/ @vvitchhazel the snoogle is where it's at! DH ordered it for me around 7 months last time, and it was a total game changer. I'd sleep with that thing the rest of my life if we didn't already have 2 giant dogs in our bed taking up all the space!

GTKY: SAHM?  Working mom? (If yes to later, what do you do) I work FT; I'm a pharmacist/pharmacy manager.
  • @Smoby1231 I love your daughters' names! Fiona is one of my favorites, but I'm majorly obsessed with Shameless and everyone would assume I got it from the show!
  • @Smoby1231 I understand the third baby thing. We have two boys and everyone's first response is along the lines of "oh you're trying for the girl this time?" It takes everything in me not to scream "no moron, we were trying for a healthy BABY!" Grrr

  • @Jellybelly119  thank you!! I say if you love it use it! I have a friend with a Fiona that is 7 and she fully admits she got the name from burn notice... Apparently there is a Fiona on that show too! Shameless is such a good show love it!!!

    BFP1- 2/21/2013- L was born 10/25/2013!
    BFP2- 4/18/2014- F was born 12/29/2014!

I love being a mom and love watching my girls do new things. I can't believe my "baby" will be 6 and in kindergarten.
    Rants/Raves/Randoms/Questions/
Does round ligament pain hit earlier and more intense with each baby?
GTKY: SAHM?  Working mom? (If yes to later, what do you do)
I am a working momma. I have been a RN for 7 years. First I was in neuro for about 1.5 yrs. I did labor and delivery for a little over 4 years (I loved it) and recently switched to the ED. Which I also love but some days are challenging!

  • @Bailey1823A Hello fellow ED RN! I've been in the ED for 4 years, but I've always wanted to work L&D too! Maybe one day...

That's awesome! I feel like this pregnancy is going to be much more rough as my ED is crazy busy. How is yours?
  • When are you due?  I don't know, somewhere around  12/13.

I have on DD, she is 1 1/2, her name is Quinn.

Current challenges/concerns about being a STM: I love my daughter so so much and I feel kind of guilty making her share our time.  I remember the first six months of a baby's life is so very hands on so I feel like she won't get all the attention she deserves.

Current joys/successes/or happy thoughts about being a STM :  Kids are awesome so adding another makes me happy dance! I love feeling the baby grow and it just gets better and better after birth! I am excited for it all.

    Rants/Raves/Randoms/Questions/ Not yet, no.

GTKY: SAHM?  Working mom? (If yes to later, what do you do) I work, insurance.
  • @jlemons-2 I love your DD's name!! Quinn!
I also have some of the same worries/guilt about making DD share our time during the day too.
  • @jlemons-2 I had the same worries about my oldest when we were having our second. Our lives pretty much revolved around him so I thought it was going to be super hard on him when his brother arrived. It wasn't hard at all though. He loves giving his baby brother attention and actually won't leave him alone  :D from my experience it seems like kids love babies and as long as you involve them in 'helping' take care of baby they seem to not even notice that mommy can't give them all of the attention anymore.
  • @b48kate I had a horrendous time nursing my first and ended up switching to formula 3 months in... my second nursed like a champ from day one. So I would suggest at least trying to nurse with this one if you feel up to it. Each kid is different and it was easier for me the second time around because I had already dealt with every issue in the book with my first.
  • @b48kate welcome fellow RN :) What is a DOU unit?

@kvacmak Definitive Observation Unit (basically a Progressive Care or Step-Down Unit).  Lots of cardio, lots of strokes, 3:1 ratios!
