Acne Blues

The past 2 weeks my skin has been absolutely awful. I feel like a teenager again, and am just as self-conscious. Anyone else experiencing bad pregnancy acne, and have any recommendations for products to try?

I had bad backne and face acne with my first, and it's already started with this one! I use Simple face wash, toner, and moisturizer, and it works really well! You can get it at any store: Walmart, Target, CVS, etc.

I'm having acne again as I did when pregnant with DS. As I remember it went away sometime in the second trimester. Only advice I have is to not use products containing acne medications and to stick with gentle cleansers and exfoliate. Oh and sunscreen!! I didn't use sunscreen the first pregnancy and ended up with a couple of melasma marks (small brown patches) that I still slightly have to this day.

Am also having acne, especially on my forehead. Haven't found a remedy yet. I have a 'dead sea' lotion, which is really salty. Don't know if it really works.

My chin and my chest! Ugh! I get hormonal acne anyways but had it pretty well under control. Also, hello beard? I have PCOS so I always have to pluck those chin buggers but I feel like I'm growing them like they are going out of style right now... and they cause more acne!

I'm definitely seeing an uptick in acne, especially on my forehead. Also, my hair is SO GREASY. I used to just wash my hair with shampoo/conditioner every other day, and sometimes two days if I wasn't using any product. Now it has to be EVERY DAY or it's like a freaking oil slick on my head and my scalp gets itchy.

I've used the belli products and they were ok. I read somewhere you can't use salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide in pregnancy but I honestly don't know if that true. I may have just been overcautious last time. This time, my skin is ok so far but I am still very early on.

The belli stuff can get expensive, so I recommend just using regular cleanser (like a cetaphil or I use a dove bar) and just getting their actual acne stuff. I did the whole 3 pack last time, wasn't sure it was worth it.

Isn't it funny how everyone tells you, "You'll be glowing" and then Mother Nature slaps you in the face with awful acne! One of the joys of motherhood, I guess! I use an activated charcoal soap bar to help keep my skin clean and reduce breakouts! It's amazing!

@rms924 I've heard benzoyl peroxide is safe during pregnancy  ( but check with dr)
And that saliyic (spelling)acid is not.

My Dr said yes to both benzoyl peroxide and salycilic acid. I only use SA in soap form, so it's not sitting on my face for a long time. Lots of disagreement on the web about BP. However, I see unanimous agreement that alpha hydroxy acid is safe, which is one of my favorite products.

I've just acquired the pregnancy glow, which is some extra color but mostly increased oil production. BF noticed too...he said I look extra shiny. Thanks.

The body shop has a product called blue corn deep cleaning mask. It basically works like magic for me. I either use is a mask and then scrub my face off or will use spot treatment on acne over night. It dries them up in an instant, it's all natural and it's great to restore your skin tone. It's amazing.
