When I brought up "soft stormy beach" my H's eyes lit up and he actually got interested (as opposed to the light green jungle I have previously mentioned). I haven't been able to find a pic of what I want, but we're thinking soft driftwood greys, with blues and greens.
@zetega That is the same bedding I want to get for our nursery! We plan to do a eclectic nursery, no real theme. Light walls- probably gray or white, and maybe with thick vertical stripes? (So much of it has to do with where we end up moving, and how long we plan to stay there. A few of the places we've looked at brick walls in the bedrooms, which would be amazing!) I might do a diy alphabet wall, definitely some wall book shelves, a few wall animal heads (probably the felt ones from Target, but I like the more papery ones from Land of Nod too), and who knows what else. I plan to peruse consignment shops and flea markets once we get settled in and kind of just see what I find. I love the idea of having all matching furniture except one piece- like maybe a white crib and bookshelf, and then a darker, vintage-y dresser/changing table.
This is where I'm going with things.....as PP said I bought a whole "set" with my son and it's literally never used ever! Plus now that he's three he's not as interested in the cutesie jungle animals on it!
We won't know until 4/18 but these are some bedding sets I have been browsing. If it's a boy, I have no idea what I want. I'm all over the place.
If it's another girl I know I don't want a jungle theme like my 1st daughters is and hers is purple. I want something different. Of course I'm not the biggest fan of pink but they are usually the prettiest.
This was DD's room when she was born (it's basically the same now but with toys and crap *everywhere*)
We have another bedroom that is our office/cat box/junk room that is a fair bit bigger than this one. We plan to move DD in there in the next couple of months and the girls will share that room eventually, probably with similar decor. This smaller room will become the "office" after we downsize some of our crap. Not sure if we'll paint the new kids' room or not. We will get a twin bed for DD once the baby moves into the crib (she will be in our room for at least the first several months until we are satisfied enough with everybody's sleep schedule to move her).
@bridge-and-wall Thanks! When I was pregnant I asked DH's opinion on decorating the nursery and he was like Star Wars! I asked, even if it's a girl? And he was like, well, yeah. He didn't really have to convince me.
So she is a nerd in the making. Her favorite toy is a little stuffed BB-8, and according to her, she doesn't need clothes because she's "a droid".
All of these are sooo pretty! We won't be doing a nursery baby will be in our room for a minimum of 6 months but if he/she follows in sibling footsteps, we'll move baby to a separate room when they're one. So we will have a nursery "corner" or side of our master bedroom. On top of this, we are currently renters so I don't want to go all out painting and hanging only to have to redo it once we move. We plan on purchasing a home March/April 2018 so baby will be about 6/7 months old so we'll do a nursery then
@tiki8286 we are renting and looking to move/buy around the same time! But our plans are for a separate room for baby from the beginning. It's a little sadder planning without wanting to paint and all that!
We will be switching DS and DD since she currently has the biggest room. Both boys will end up sharing for a while at least, although not for the first few months. We are going to do an underwater ocean theme as my older son is obsessed with deep ocean documentaries. So blue green walls and then octopus, jellyfish, sea horses etc painted in silver, and with navy blue and silver accents around the room. For my older daughter I'm trying to make her okay with the room down grade by telling her she can do an imaginary creatures theme- purple walls with dragons, unicorns, fairies, etc.

@LaceyC1020 We love the pink/navy nautical theme too!! I love that bedset. We are boat people so it was kind of a no brainer! I'm also loving the pink blush @lap018 and I really want that blush wall with gold circles on it.... I wonder if I can combine that with nautical...

Love this thread! Lots of cute ideas! We are team green and going for simple/gender neutral. Our walls are already a light grey/blue color. Our furniture will be grey, and our rug/curtains will be blue (we already have them) and we'll just incorporate pops of color elsewhere, then personalize it more once LO is here. But here's the fun stuff we've found so far. ETA: Spoiler box was acting up!
@LaceyC1020 I love that! We are also doing a nautical theme---more whales, with other nautical elements sprinkled in. White wainscoting on the bottom of the walls, navy on the top with accents of lime green
My DS had that same blanket when he was a baby. It was so cozy. We also had an ocean theme for his room. I don't have any pictures as I am on my work computer, clearly not working... But, I purchased wooden letters that formed his name and painted each letter a different ocean creature. Ex: T for turtle, H for harbor seal... Then, we put the letters up above his crib. My FIL repainted my husband's old dresser/changing table, and I painted knobs that reflected an ocean theme as well -- anchors, sunsets, crabs, etc. Those projects were surprisingly easy and made the room a bit more personal.
This is all to say that poor baby #2 will have very little of this attention...
We are for sure more of a redneck family, and hunt every year. Trucks and dirt bikes and all that fun stuff. So we already have shed antlers and deer skin rugs... And I want to go for a cure theme like this. My bonus mom and I can both paint. So we can do the wall designs ourselves, thankfully.
We find out what Baby J is tommorow(if baby cooperates for 16 weeks 2d). If baby J is a girl the room will be "Sweet as Honey Bee" theme with yellow and grey linens etc. If Baby J is a boy we're going to do "Where the Wild Things Are" theme again with grey, a darker yellow, and some navy. Can't wait to find out and start crafting some DIY decorations. This is our last baby so really excited about prepping the nursery!
I officially got started on the nursery this weekend with a makeover of my daughter's dresser for our new boy's room. I plan on putting the Captain America drawer pulls in the picture on the dresser, too. He'll have a superhero theme room. I have a felt set to make him a mobile next.

We're doing a nautical nursery for our baby boy - likely navy, light blue, and white. So far all I've bought is a whale piggy bank. We have a white crib that my girls used.
Anyone have a mini crib they recommend? We are short on space and are converting our 4x6 ft closet into a "nursery." Will just fit a mini crib and dresser/changing table.
I've been looking at gliders online. We definitely want one for the nursery but I feel like the one we picked out is way overpriced. I'm a FTM, so I don't really know what to expect, but the one at Buy Buy Baby is almost $600 with the 3 year protection plan (~$60). I'm seeing them online for $100-200...DH is nervous about getting it online when we can't see it in person first. Any thoughts??

Yes I find the super cushy ones to be quite pricey and the ones that are like a wood frame with cushions are a lot less expensive. We got one offline for like $200 (the wooden one with cushions on it) but I really wish we would've gotten one in person that we could sit in and see how comfy it was because every night my rear end falls asleep when I rock DS to sleep! This time we will be getting a nice cushy comfy rocker
@lap018 Thank you! That's very helpful. I loved the one in store. It was super comfy. DH was a little concerned about the ones online being too narrow so maybe we'll spring for the expensive one lol! I need to shop around and see if other stores carry them to try out first too!
This was my DD's nursery. SO is a country boy and we love our realtree. The room itself is small and used to be an office space. I was too lazy to repaint but grey was neutral anyways.
We don't know the gender of Baby#3 yet. If it's a girl, her nursery will look exactly the same as this lol. If it's a boy, I might DIY a dirt bike theme.
We got a used glider in great condition today! The cushions are removable, so I've cleaned them already and they're drying. This glider has a gliding foot rest that matches it, AND two of my favourite parts about it are: 1) it has a lock so you can make it into a stationary chair instead of a glider (I was worried about LO always pinching fingers when (s)he starts to be mobile...not a worry anymore!) 2) It has pockets in the arm cushions, which will be super handy

@jenn622-2 I am planning to do a mini crib as well. My friend has the Babyletto in her apartment on hardwood, she has been pretty happy with it. I am ordering the Dream On Me - mostly out of convenience from Amazon and then upgrading to a nicer mattress.
I would just encourage you in converting your closet to check the air ventilation in there. My friend with the Babyletto had issues with the temperature when they had the doors closed because of a lack of airflow which can put baby at risk! She modified by removing the door of the closet and putting folding shutters in front. Didn't help with noise but did make it so baby felt like they were in there own room.

I ann thinking an owl theme for our girl.
