  I have been looking at gender neutral themes since we don't know what these babes will be. DH wants to wait to find out what they are so we can do gender specific if we have two of the same sex. So who knows! Still have about 2 months until we find out.

  We're planning to do a safari theme with light grey walls and dark wood furniture. DH and I went to South Africa for our HM and I want to print out some photos from that on canvas to hang on the walls.   We were team green with DS and will be this time too. We painted his room a light green and had a few jungle accents (decals and blanket). The colour scheme was green and brown.
  
  For this baby we will use the guest room which is already painted brown so all our bedding etc already matches! DS will get new stuff in his green room but haven't decided on exactly what. Probably some sort of car or truck theme

  Super light blue walls with a white crib and dresser/changetable combo. Minimalist/light and airy with a few woodland type of decorations (bears, foxes, rabbits, whatever we find and like. Not too themey)

  We're doing a space theme for our little girl... but not too dark (a lot of the inspiration photos have like navy walls with white constellations/stars painted on them, and I just think that might get depressing). The walls were already pale yellow and I found this super cute yellow and white star wallpaper to put up on one wall (it comes in giant stickers you tile together-- supposed to be removable). Then lots of cute solar system accessories (mobile, wall decorations...). Photos of wallpaper and some other ideas below.

  We sort of fell into an animal theme. We don't know the sex yet. (NIPT yesterday, so I guess we'll find out soon.) We liked a bunch of blankets, etc. with different animals on them. That's what we registered for. The room is currently teal, but we'll probably paint it. Just haven't picked a color yet. We have previously discussed purple for a girl and green for a boy, but we'll see what matches the bedding, etc.

  Well now that we know we have a girl on the way we have decided on a nautical theme! Light pink, navy blue and white with small hints of darker pink! I'm so excited!!! I found a crib sheet set that I fell in love with a long time ago and it is now retired from Babies R Us. My birthday was yesterday and DH surprised me with it! Courtesy of the wonderful amazon! We're combining a few things from a couple different nursery sets because all of the colors are pretty much the same.

  @LaceyC1020 Let me go grab my whole pinterest board!
  Since we don't know what we are having yet, I have two ideas. But the basic room and furniture will be white and gray. The added decor (wall hangings, bed sheets, pillows, toy bins, etc.) can be easily switched out if I have a second child of a different gender.
  So for a girl:
  
  A soft blush color, maybe spots of gold (but that's super trendy), bows and flowers. I'm a real girly girl, so I love pink.
  For a boy:
  
  Navy (so darker than what's pictured), with hints of forest green and a woodlands theme. I love the cutesy animals but I may just choose a couple of animals to focus on.

  All I know so far is that I HAVE to make this quilt for baby. Sweater color will be different depending on boy/girl
  But I'm obsessed

  Oh just a caution for FTMs. I remember getting really excited about our crib set and being disappointed when I realized that baby can't use the blanket for a long time, the bumper is a no-no, and exploding diapers meant that the coordinating sheet was only on the bed 5% of the time. If I were to do it again I'd get a bunch of coordinated sheets and a crib skirt as separates and forget the rest. Unless you use the big bulky blanket as a wall hanging at first, it can be a lot of money that doesn't go that far in terms of practical use.

  We are team green so have to go with gender neutral. Also, we don't exactly have a separate nursery but are creating a large room downstairs for DH and I and baby, with some sort of room divider. The carpet is an abstract design in red and gold/tan. It's going to be hard to design around but I fell in love with this:

  I'm so indecisive at this point. For a boy I want black and white with a pop of red plaid. Mountains and some woodland animals like bears and deer. I think, maybe.
  
  
  For a girl, black and white is all I got. I know I don't want pink though.

  I would play, but I can't even pretend we are theme people at all... every single thing we have is mismatched. DS's crib is matte white, the changing table is a shiny dark cherry, his dresser is light fake wood, the rocking chair is light wood with a nasty green cushion set. He has dinosaur stuff, nautical stuff, safari stuff.... we're just a mismatched mess.

  @LaceyC1020 I love that! We are also doing a nautical theme---more whales, with other nautical elements sprinkled in. White wainscoting on the bottom of the walls, navy on the top with accents of lime green

  From what I have read, it is fine as long as it is a new crib, not like an antique iron crib or anything.

  Chiming in to say that metal would probably be better, there's no telling how much paint my child has ingested from chewing on his wooden one

  Im doing navy blue and mint green with a subtle safari theme (mostly because I love giraffes and people will not stop buying me giraffe things ) Our furniture is white and I want to do some sort of accent wall behind the crib, maybe mint and navy stripes? All of the other walls are light gray. 
  
  I ordered the bedding set from Etsy, I cant wait for it to come in.
