  • @jsnakehole I firmly believe that all gym trios should be rewarded with something delicious. That's amazing! Congrats!
@morado23 enjoy that nap it's deserved!!
I was supposed to be watching a lot of basketball this weekend but that is no longer of main interest (university of louisville lost last week) but I am seeing beauty and the beast with my little cousins today followed by my other cousin's birthday. Tomorrow will be errands and laziness

  • @BreezyBee my mom is reading that! I guess I'll have to grab it from her when she's done.

I totally did not read this month's pick for my Book Club. I really really intended to. I just never got around to getting the book.

  • Anyone have any recommendations for either a cordless vacuum or a smaller plug in version? I'd like to keep something near the kitchen to get the dog that accumulates everywhere. I've done some reading on the dyson cordless but I think it's only good for about 5 minute on the highest level - so that kinda sucks. Maybe 5 minutes is enough but that seems so impractical

@bean1818 did you end up trading in your car today? We got a new one last weekend and I can't stop myself from continuing to research cars. It's become an obsession!

@cdnrunning - get yourself a cordless Shark! It's changed my life. I think the official name is Shark Navigator Freestyle or something like that. Super light, battery is great, and Consumer Reports rated it as best cordless for picking up pet hair (which is why I got it).

No pun intended on the "sucks," @cdnrunning? Giggle!

I use a Roomba for daily pet hair removal, but I've heard good things about the Shark that @kmalls mentioned

Quoting so people aren't like 'WTH is she talking about?'

I read most of the book. It's really interesting because the author writes it from the perspective of the little boy, and he's so innocent to what's happening.

That movie is intense. And this is coming from someone who watches WWII/Holocaust documentaries of their own volition (because I'm a history nerd, not a total weirdo. I took a lot of WWII/Holocaust related courses as electives in college because I was fascinated).

  • @cdnrunning There's a six part BBC miniseries on Netflix called Auschwitz: The Nazis and the 'Final Solution' that's really interesting and incredibly well done.

There's also a two part documentary History Channel did called 'Third Reich: The Rise' and 'Third Reich: The Fall.' It uses actual footage filmed by Germans during the period it covers. It's really interesting (and a little frightening), especially in the first part if you compare it to current politics.

I'm currently listening to "I Shall Live" by Henry Orenstein on Audible. I'm not sure there's a documentary/movie but it's well worth the listen.

  • I'm a little torn. I have spring break coming up and I really need to get out of the city for a weekend, so I was debating getting out of town by myself. Now my mother has made me all paranoid about traveling alone (even though I literally took the same trip by myself two years ago and was fine). She said I should just take some more burlesque classes and some cooking classes over the week I'm off to fill my time.

I don't know what to do. More burlesque classes sounds fun, but I really wanted a weekend away. However, one of my girlfriend's said we should just do a weekend away in May together.

  • @jsnakehole Are you planning to travel out of the country? I think as long as someone knows where your going and what your plans are you should go! You can't be afraid to live your life. Women travel for work and pleasure everyday. You just have to be smart but you need to be smart no matter where you are or what your doing. Your mom is always going to worry about you, even if your sitting at home!

@JJMNO1616 I totally agree, and I wouldn't be going far (just to another city on the East Coast, a few hours away). As I said, I did the same trip totally alone two years ago, just before meeting DH.

I may postpone anyway, just because one of my friends just expressed interest in coming with me if I'm willing to just do it over a weekend in May. And there is an advanced shimmying class during the weekend I'd like to travel to register for instead. I'm going to talk it over with DH, because he's my chief financier for this trip, and see what he thinks.
