Just remembered some more! Jigsaw puzzles pre-baby! Loved them. A LITTLE bit harder now with a toddler, two cats, and a dog, nothing is safe. And I will forever be a mini-golf fan. Love kayaking, and hikes but that is in the rare/never happens boat.
I'm also a former big reader. Before we left Toronto I had an hour long subway commute to work - I just don't have that kind of time to myself any more. I really liked spin classes, Zumba and hiking before baby #1 I hope to get back to after if it all after this baby.
@divinemsm620 I teach English too in California. So, like you, reading is one of my favorite pastimes. Today I finished Margaret Atwood's take on the Odyssey, The Penelopiad.
@jena333, I love the glass artwork! I live in Southern California, about ten minutes from the beach, and I have picked up the addicting habit of glassing. But, so far, I haven't been crafty enough to do much more than store my glass in Mason jars.
Before my son was born my husband and I went on long bike rides almost every weekend. We've taken our toddler out a few times in his trailer, but it is definitely not the same.
I love to pin a lot of projects and desserts on pinterest that I'll probably never make. Does that count as a hobby?
You and me both lady!! I've gotten better about doing the recipes, but not the projects. For now, I'm doing a lot of research and planning of our dream home post DH military retirement (3 years!!!)
Baking, barre class, outdoorsy stuff, & games (board & card) with family and friends are favorite pastimes. Lately, not many of the above have happened
Reading, writing, baking, sewing (mainly costumes because I'm a nerd), and photography. However, since I got pregnant, my main hobby has been Netflix bingeing.

Yay! I truly love this profession. I teach 9th and 11th right now, and have always taught 9th. We recently finished studying Lord of the Flies. My juniors are reading Catcher in the Rye. What grades do you teach??
Also, I loved The Penelopiad, almost as much as I love The Odyssey itself!

I LOVED The Penelopiad! Might be time for a re-read.
I really like cake decorating and DIY projects. I really hate the process of baking the cakes, but decorating and seeing the finished project I could do all day. And if I had the funds and all the power tools, I'd be going to my local ReStore and buying all the furniture to re-do like on Flea Market Flip.
I love to bake, cook, sew, and tan (during summer) for me time. We love to hit the beach and do dinner with friends or Starbucks dates because I'm a coffee-holic lol.

I picked up The Penelopiad at a used book sale (another addiction). I had never heard of it before. My Freshmen read The Odyssey, so I'm excited to reference it as an alternate perspective. I teach in a somewhat unusual context: independent study at a public charter school. While we have a wide variety of students, most of them come to us due to serious personal or academic concerns. I see them one on one, so I teach grades 9 through 12. Honestly though, it feels more like I am a combination of teacher, tutor, and guidance counselor. Previously I taught grades 7- 12 in a tiny, rural district, but after my son was born I needed something that was more manageable.
@CoastalMomma that sounds like a really cool role. My district is suburban. We have about 1,150 kids in 9-12 and student load for English is 90-110 depending on what courses you teach.
Don't even get me started on the awesomeness of library book sales, my favorite type of used book sale. I have about 90 unread books in my house, many bought for around $1 from library sales
@divinemsm620, I like it, but there is a whole new level of paperwork and accountability. That doesn't sound too bad. When I was a classroom teacher I had 6 periods, 3 different preps, and roughly 30 kids per class. I miss the classroom environment sometimes, but I don't miss the endless hours of grading.
Love library booksales. I bought a grocery bag full of books for $1 at the last sale I went to. My husband is going to make me an additional bookself for all of my "to be read" stacks. I wonder if we will have room for a crib...
Re: GTKY: Hobbies!
I love love love to read. I am constantly spending way too much money on books lol. Games are fun too, especially with the family!
