Hi everyone!
So DH and I have been ttc for 2 years now with no luck. I have PCOS and Endo which resulted in the loss of one ovary and tube. My regualr gyno is amazing and she has put us on 3 cycles of clomid (watched very closely for cyst) and none of them worked. After that we decided to take a short break from clomid and see where we ended up, so far no baby. I go back to my gyno in May and we have been trying to compile some questions to ask her regarding where do we go from here and do we need to be referred to an RE?
Do any of you have any questions that you wish you would have asked prior to finding an RE?
How did you find your RE?
Thanks you all in advance!!!
Re: Now what do we do!
Depending on where you live, you RE choices might be either very numerous, or quite limited. I only found a few reproductive clinics close to me, and then narrowed down by who is covered by my insurance.
You can look up success rates online, but those might be outdated (my clinic latest public rates were from 2014, and they were much smaller back then, so not a big enough sample to trust the statistics).
The best way is to go to an initial appointment and talk to RE personally. Ask about prices, process, how they communicate with patients, if they have personalized plans, of more of a cookie cutter things.
Also, depending on what you're planning to do (TI, IUI, IVF), ask for their specific practices - what meds are used, how they adjust them, what is the follicle size they want to see, what they use for trigger, how many embryos they transfer at a time and on which day (for IVF). Are they open on a weekend and if not, how they handle people who ovulate on the weekend and can't be seen for a procedure (for IUI or IVF).
Look up the clinic online on google, or yelp - read reviews. Also look up REs by names online and see if there are any reviews as well.
Good luck!!!
My story in signature spoiler. Children mentioned.
I don't produce FSH, so no natural menstrual cycle. DH has reduced morphology.
