I'll start with another fun story of pregnancy brain. I'll start by saying that since DH has been laid off (over 2 months now), I rarely have to drive. He takes me to the train station every morning and picks me up. He usually will get all of the running around and errands done during the week while I'm at work, and if we go somewhere together, he drives. Well, someone really needs to take the car keys away from me... Haha!
As I said in a previous thread, my SIL treated me to a mani/pedi yesterday, but I drove because DH and my BIL were using her trunk as a tool shelf while working on a project in the garage. We get to the salon, and apparently, I was just so excited to get pampered because I didn't even realize that I didn't have my keys until I was almost done. I started freaking out and while my SIL was paying, I ran out to the car to see if I had left them inside. Well...not ONLY did I leave the car keys inside, but I also left the car running! Luckily I didn't lock the doors because that would have really been the icing on the pregnancy brain cake.
@KirstinH88 oh my goodness! My husband would kill me. lol. As it is I check my bag at least three times for my keys before locking my car because I've been so absent minded I just know I would lock myself out. My pregnancy brain has been so brutal too. One small example is that DH literally just told me he stopped by the store to buy deoderant and I still bought him some when I went to get groceries. My whole week last week was a series of stupid decisions. lol.
Ooh another moment of pregnancy brain: I was trying on nursing tanks to see about how well they'd fit, and I was like "wtf--why doesn't this fit?" Then I realized I was still pregnant.
My random thoughts of the week: we are pretty sure DH is going to accept his job offer. Which feels awfully scary and intimidating when I don't have a job yet. We can't make it work on just his salary, so it feels like a gamble. Worst scenario I could sub or be a para in the schools and money would just be tight. The thought of trying to job search and interview with schools 5 hours away is terrifying and overwhelming at 38+ weeks pregnant. Maybe the stress will at least kick my body into labor
@wagnerw Fx that you find something soon! Would you be moving to a city that has a ton of schools? Or is it more of a rural setting? Do you know anyone in that city/town that could possibly give you some inside info on schools that are hiring?
@KirstinH88 it's a decent sized town, but still considered rural. Not many options around. We actually both went to college there and lived there for 3 years after, so we are really familiar with the community. It's like moving "home" for us. There is one job opening in town that I have been working on applying to tonight, but other than that there is currently nothing open (not uncommon for teaching at this time of the year). It's just so hard to take the leap to move knowing I have limited options. And doing all this pregnant/with a newborn from out of state. I just had a breakdown when I realized that on top of a job, we need to immediately get our house ready to put on the market. Gah.
@wagnerw good luck and take care of yourself! Those are a lot of life changing triggers that could make you at risk for PPD. Make sure you're continuing to talk about your concerns and try not to stress/internalize. When it gets too much, meditation, prayer, ice cream and puppies/kittens until you can add baby snuggles ;-)
I've been lavishing attention on DS 1 with extra snuggles, rocking to sleep... Basically everything I can since I already feel guilty that I won't be able to do as much the several weeks post baby arrival. I know he'll be well taken care of by DH and family... It'll be hard handing over majority of bath, meals and bedtime routine to someone else.
We finally found a TV series to watch together and are several episodes in the Expanse- I have a feeling we might be watching more episodes while I'm in labor... Last time I started how I met your mother in labor & delivery and finished all the seasons during my nursing sessions.
Every morning my husband wakes me up to get ready for work as he's heading out the door. Lately he'll come over, give me a kiss and go "any contractions yet?" Oh yeah, been contracting all night and just didn't tell you...no dear, I'm good. Haha.
@mylittleirvz ha, mine does the same. I flew off the couch at 3:30 this morning when I realized the cat was locked in the nursery (thanks to DH) and he thought I was jumping out of pain/contractions. Every time I call him it's "are you in labor yet?" No, unfortunately.
@mylittleirvz Similar to you in that my DH asks me the most obvious question every morning. "Did you get up to pee at night?" Yes... yes I did... I have been waking up every night to pee for a month....Lol
MMC @ 10w March 2016 Cautiously expecting April 5, 2017
I ate an entire pineapple for breakfast. I'll be busting out all of the old wives tales for labor induction in the next couple weeks. C'mon, baby girl; let's avoid that RCS!
@HappyAnjel same here! each of my family members has been assigned different meals/snacks/treats to bring to the hospital once this boy is out! My dad just added a 5lb bag of starburst jelly beans to my hospital bag which now is mostly filled with extremely unhealthy snacks.
While everyone is working on their birth plans I'm over here making a list of foods I NEED my husband to bring me while I'm in the hospital..
Yes!!! I've already requested Chipotle. And if I'm in the hospital long enough, I'm sure other foods will get added to the list. With DS I was in the hospital (total from admitting to discharge) for just over a day.
Which brings me to my other random....This weekend I seriously gave DH some shit because he made a comment about how now that the weather is getting nicer that we need to start going to the Farmer's Market every weekend just to get me up and walking. His reasoning why? Because that's what we did when I was pregnant with DS and DS came fast and we were able to leave the hospital soon afterwards AND HE doesn't want to be at the hospital for too long. REALLY?!?! Because you hanging out, watching TV is so hard compared to me pushing a watermelon out of my who-ha....
I just ate a baked potato with butter, cheese, and cool ranch doritos.
You just reminded me that I've been wanting to go to the baked potato place by my work before I have this kiddo! Loaded baked potato for less than $3... one of the perks of working on a college campus.
@McFarKane, I have a bag of starburst jelly beans in my bag too and it's taking all I have not to get into them! It's not a 5lb bag or else I probably would have stolen some already...
@HappyAnjel one of the questions I asked on my hospital tour was whether or not we could have takeout delivered to our room. Thankfully the answer was yes. It's important to have your priorities in order
So, you know how trying on swimsuits is pretty much the worst thing ever? Today I discovered there is something much, much worse... trying on swimsuits while 9 months pregnant. Yep. I need a swimsuit for my day at the spa on Thursday. I am NOT missing out on the awesome sounding cleansing bath and numerous pools because all the swimsuits I own fit me about 40 pounds ago. So, I went hoping to find one that wouldn't look SUPER ridiculous right now, but would also work on my postpartum body this summer. Miracle of miracles, I think I found one that fits the bills perfectly and it makes my current boobs look awesome, if I do say so. But, the 360 mirrors and the trial and error of finding one to fit over my back fat was pretty degrading. Holy cow... I can't believe this is my body right now.

@mrsstuessy your body is beautiful and making a human. It gets a pass. But congrats on finding a suit that makes your boobs look great. Haha. Score!
@KirstinH88 my birthing center requires two days in after vaginal birth and I've already told DH to bring whatever he needs to get comfy on the couch. Even though our house is ten minutes away. Sorry dude! I'm gonna need you there with me.
Yes I'm glad I'm not the only one.. one of my friends stopped by and was like "who does that?" I am having a csection so I know I will be in a few days.. I want all the food. I have so much on my list haha!
I've had a couple of labor dreams this pregnancy. But last night I had one that was super vivid. In the dream baby was just fine and healthy, but I ended up having to have a c-section. I don't remember why. I remember being bummed but accepting that it was best for her. It was kind of a nice dream and I appreciate that my mind is preparing me for various possibilities besides my own plans. It was also nice to have baby snuggles until I woke up and she was still in there. Boo.
@HGRich I'm slightly jealous of your dream. I haven't had any labor dreams, or really even any dreams about baby. With DS, I had so many dreams about him. It was nice to see what he would look like, etc (even if it wasn't real life in the end). I do feel super connected to my pregnancy and to Samuel, but I wish that I would dream about him more.
@HappyAnjel I just told DH last night that his job as we walk out of the house is to grab a bag of donut holes from the freezer and European chocolate from our garage freezer. It's a special occasion, I'm going all out
I'm in the same boat. I haven't had any dreams about Jake, but when i was pregnant with DS I had all kinds of dreams. Maybe its because its the 2nd go round and I'm not too nervous about being a mommy.
My random: We went grocery shopping last night and we bought a travel sized champagne to celebrate in the hospital
I have been telling DH that I am drinking red wine in the hospital. I think that he thinks I am kidding. But, I am sooooooooo not kidding. So, if we don't bring it with us then he is getting his butt to the store and bringing me some. I will be drinking wine before I leave the hospital.

@SnarkasaurusRex I'm with you. Tried fresh ginger beer the last few days. Tonight is eggplant for dinner. Taking the rest to work for lunch tomorrow and following it up with pineapple. Good luck! Maybe we should set up a wives' tale testing board?
DH's birthday is close to our due date so I bought him a flask and I'm going to fill it with some real nice bourbon and put it in the hospital bag...for his birthday....no actually is 100% for me and I'm just counting it as his birthday so I don't have to get him a gift.
My hospital has great food, and when I had DS, we were transferred out of the delivery room at 3:30am. The only hours are food is not served is between 3am-6am. I was pissed! At 6, I ordered basically the entire breakfast menu. I then said "oh, I need to order for my husband too". The food service worker then replied, "oh, I thought your order included him". I then had Papa Johns delivered 4 hours later. Give me all the food after labor!!!
The crib bedding my MIL ordered came today. I let DS open the box and asked him what it was expecting him to say Hello Kitty. He said "It's Ella's baby room!" And ran to put the package in her crib. Needless to say I cried for 15 min. It was just so damn sweet!
DH usually gets up at 5:00am for work. He has been creeping up on me over the couch and scares the heck out of me. I told him next time just call out my name from a distance. Well, last night he did, I jumped out of the couch to get ready to go in to the bedroom ( we co-sleep with DS). I checked my phone and realize is only 4:00am, DH says he going back to bed. I'm like wtf you wake me up for? Well it's pouring rain outside......AND??? I don't get it!
Anyone else's pets starting to act weird around them? My dog was crying at my bedroom door the majority of last night (I was having contractions every 4 mins for a while and then her crying started). She doesn't have to go out or eat and seems to be feeling okay. She has been my shadow all day today, won't even let me go into the bathroom alone. This is exactly how my moms dog acted around me the day before I had my daughter.
@McFarKane, my dog has acted super "protective" and "clingy" to me pretty much since the BFP but even more so lately. I told my DH the other day that I feel like he watches me like a ticking time bomb cause anytime I make a step he is right beside me staring. he'll follow me from room to room to room to room and if it's a room he's not allowed in (kitchen, DS and baby rooms) he'll sit or lay at the door watching til I come out. I frequently tell him, "just lay down and stay, i'll be right back! Aren't you exhausted moving every two seconds?!" Haha
@McFarKane I've heard dogs have a 6th sense for this kind of thing. I think my pup is clueless though.
NBR Random: Every year for our anniversary, I buy DH a gift that relates to the "traditional" gift giving list. So year 1 was paper and I had a song lyric from "our song" printed out and put in a frame. Year 2 is cotton, so I bought him new tshirts and towels. And year 3 was leather, so I bought him new belts and I believe a wallet. Well, now we are approaching year 4 (in May) and I'm really struggling with this year's "traditional" gift of fruit/flowers. Really?!?! What can I buy a MAN with fruit/flowers that he would half way enjoy? My only idea is one of those fruit bouquets, but that's kind of lame, right?!
What about something food related that isn't just fruit on its own--like a giant cobbler or something tasty. Or you could cheat and get something fruit flavored he likes without real fruit. Or get him other things he needs in Fruit of the Loom brand. Or if you're willing to go expensive, you could buy him an Apple product.....
@McFarKane mine knew I wasn't pregnant before I did. But in general she's a clingy diva anyway so I don't think she'd notice anything else. Haha.
@catem07@HGRich Thanks for the suggestions. He does like beer but I doubt he would want to make his own. He just wants to drink it! hahah! And no to the wine. The food related idea sounds good. A nice dessert with some kind of fruit in it. And he would LOVE a new Apple product...but....he's so expensive already!! haha!! Maybe if he returns to work soon....
