Several of us seemed interested in a health and fitness thread. I thought maybe to help keep it interesting and going, we could use this week to see who all of us are actually interested, what kinds of things we want to talk about in the thread, and bounce ideas around. I know someone mentioned sharing healthy recipes, and there was talk of doing challenges.
For the first week, I thought maybe just a general where are we at check in might be good.

5 weeks tomorrow
Have you been cleared to start exercising again? If so, what have you been doing to get back to being active and healthy?
I was cleared to start easing back in, minus extensive ab work. I've really only been tightening my abs to try to start feeling them again. Up until a few days ago, they were just mush, even when I tried to tighten them and "flex". I'm just starting the feel them again on the sides and lower abdomen. Other than that, we've been taking hikes on nicer days while I wear Austin in my wrap.
What do you want to see on this thread/do you have any ideas or suggestions?
I think we will all have our own thing, but I also think it might be fun doing stuff together... I'll put more about it at the bottom. I also think sharing recipes or food ideas might be nice since a lot of us are either breastfeeding and still following a more picky food Guide, or just awesome food people with good stuff to share.
What have you been eating and drinking?
My Dr told me to eat more protein and greens. So at breakfast I've been eating 2 scrambled eggs, and some boiled chicken breast that I season, with a tall glass of chocolate milk. Lunch is whatever I see and I want. And dinners have been our normal stuff, this week we will have spaghetti, seasoned chicken, burgers... I drink a lot of instant lemonade lately and I have a can of pop daily.
Do you have anything else you want to share?
I know some of us have gym memberships, or have a plan they like already, but I know I have no interest in going to the gym yet, I'd prefer to stay home or go outside to walk with the LO. So I've been looking into different post partum exercises and ended up finding a website that gave me an idea to throw out. Right now, a lot of us are still waiting for the okay from our Dr's to start exercising again, so I figure for the next few weeks everyone will most likely stick to just walking, but after that I was wondering if anyone would be interested in following a common workout routine. The site I found has a day by day routine to do. As far as I can tell, you can be done in as little as 20 minutes. Cardio days has the option of a 45 minute thing, or doing a 20 minute HIIT routine. The woman who created it has step by step instructions, and videos to watch. Basically she did it once after baby #3, but decided to do daily videos after her 4th pregnancy so she could start on day 1 with other people. You get to see her get tired, and pooped, and do her whole workout. If you want to checkout the website, here's the link.

If you scroll way down you can read about it.
To get to the first challenges/90 day routine, here's the link

I realize everyone might not be interested, and I'm sure depending on our day and energy level we might not always stick to something like this, but I thought it might be fun to do something in common so we can chat about it together. We can motivate each other as we try to do something that's the same. I also thought about just those 30 day challenges, like the 30 day squat/plank challenge that you see on pinterest.
12 weeks yesterday
Have you been cleared to start exercising again? If so, what have you been doing to get back into being active and healthy?
I was given the ok to resume exercise at my 6 week pp appointment. I have mostly been going for a lot of walks with the kids, when it's not -20c or colder. We renewed our gym membership and ive been a few times and felt good.
What have you been eating, and drinking?
Food lol I've been making healthier choices lately. More fruit and veggies and less chips and candy....I'm feeling much better and less tired because of this too.
I drink soooooo much coffee. I'm trying to cut back and add more water. If I'm wanting something hot to drink I'll drink hot water instead of having more coffee.
Do you have anything else you want to share?
I despise cardio with a passion. I do the bare minimum required lol I LOVE lifting weights and lifting heavy.
My goal is to be strong again and to feel fit and have a ton of energy. I don't care so much about losing weight and in fact I never weigh myself. The only time that happens is when I'm pregnant and that is because the Dr's need to know that.
I am fitting into my pre baby clothes again so I guess that is one way to know I'm losing....it does feel good fitting into my jeans and get out of leggings once in a while.
Have you been cleared to start exercising yet? not yet - I'm supposed to have my check up tomorrow buttttt we're also supposed to get a blizzard tonight so it might get delayed. I've been trying to focus on pulling my belly button back towards my spine when I'm holding Elliott which has helped my stomach feel less like mashed potatoes ...
What would you like to see on this thread? I think it'd be fun to do some monthly challenges (not like "weight loss challenges" but strengthening challenges trying to do more each day throughout the month). Also food - when I was pregnant I literally ate my life away, but I'm excited to get back to eating healthy. I just want to be careful to balance that with keeping up my supply. So more of a focus on healthy, wholesome food rather than your typical "diet" food - maybe healthy frozen options? It'd be cool to have workouts we can do with babies too. Lol clearly I'm a little all over the place
What have you been eating and drinking? allllllllll the water. Oatmeal with almond butter. My grandmother sent us Blue Apron meals for the past 3 weeks which has been AMAZING but I'm nervous that once they stop coming we'll just eat pizza.
Do you have anything else you want to share? not that I can think of now!
Also my Dr told me to help my supply to drink plenty of liquids and eat a lot of protein.
How many weeks PP are you? im 2 weeks 2 days PP
Have you been cleared to start exercising again? If so, what have you been doing to get back into being active and healthy? Nope it's still early. But I have been walking and playing with the dog when I can. And I'm starting a little bit of upper body weights, just very light to try to get some strength back.
What do you want to see on this thread/ do you have any ideas or suggestions? i would love to see what everyone is doing for exercise and how their goals are coming. And to get some ideas/motivation. And any great recipes would be awesome!
What have you been eating, and drinking? im drinking water with a splash of Powerade in it. Not as much as I used to so I need to step it up. Having an extra cup of coffee is great these days. And I've been having a beer with dinner sometimes and that is pure heaven! I've been eating a peanut butter English muffin for breakfast, askme hummus cheese veggies and bread for lunch with fruit, and home cooked dinners mostly which is awesome and unexpected haha. I've been making smoothies for snacks to help with milk supply and fiber one bars...For obvious reasons.
Do you have anything else you want to share? I am sooooo looking forward to getting back into exercise. I am an active person and I miss it. I'd love to see everyone's goals on here! I miss running and one of mine is to run a 27 min 5k by the end of the summer. I also just want some muscle tone back, I feel so flabby.
4 weeks PP tomorrow.
Not yet cleared; my appointment is in two weeks. I made it as late as possible back when my stitches were pretty painful; now I can't wait for it! I have been walking when weather allows and am up to 1.5 miles. I'm toying with trying a very gentle yoga video but am usually waylaid by a needy infant. Once I'm cleared I plan to begin running again starting with Couch to 5k, and I have a goal half marathon picked out for July. It would be my fourth; if that's too ambitious I'll pick one in the fall, but I should at least be able to run-walk it.
I tend to focus more on exercise than diet, so I'd love the thread to hold me accountable to my training plan.
I've been eating lots of lasagna since people keep bringing them over. Lucky us! Also lots of cookies. I'm not watching my diet much at all TBH. I do drink a lot of water, a lot of coffee, and sporadic individual beers.
I'm excited to see interest in a fitness thread! Thanks @kswiger06!
Have you been cleared to start exercising again? If so, what have you been doing to get back into being active and healthy? I have an ok for walks and very light excercises, but I was told to take it easy. I have had a cold ever since delivery, so I haven't done anything but light housework. I can't wait to get the clear though.
What do you want to see on this thread/ do you have any ideas or suggestions? I'd like to hear about everyone's progress. Also, healthy recipes you all have tried and liked.
What have you been eating, and drinking?
I've been drinking alot of water and la croix. I haven't been eating really healthy and am eating whatever sounds good at the time. I've been snacking all day and not eating full meals.
Do you have anything else you want to share?
I really like Emily Skye's curciut videos.
About 5 weeks
Have you been cleared to start exercising again? If so, what have you been doing to get back into being active and healthy?
I haven't been cleared yet, but I've been doing light exercises to help tone and boost my moods. I started out with some yoga positions, then mild exercises lasting 10 mins. A few days ago I did 30 mins and it kicked my butt! I'm also trying to get back to cleaning up my diet, cooking more meals and boosting protein intake.
What do you want to see on this thread/ do you have any ideas or suggestions?
I think the idea of challenges and recipes sounds awesome.
What have you been eating, and drinking?
Chicken, veggies, fish, pancakes. Lol
Do you have anything else you want to share?
Im excited to get back to being fit! I used to go to the gym 3-4 times a week but don't think I can resume that with no sitter for the baby and going back to work. I'm just going to do what I can when I can.
Sorry for crazy fonts, I'm on mobile and it's acting up.
How many weeks PP are you?
10 weeks
Have you been cleared to start exercising again? If so, what have you been doing to get back into being active and healthy?
Yes, I've been cleared since my 6 week follow up appointment. I've mostly been taking long 3-6 mile walks with DS in his sling. I've been able to do a few 3 mile runs in the morning before DH leaves for work but the weather hasn't been super cooperative for outdoor excercise lately. I've been doing weights at home to attempt to tone up my arms. DH has a big fancy red carpet type event at the beginning of May that I want to be in better shape for so I need to focus on this a little better than I have been. I also feel so much better when I can run regularly, both physically and mentally.
What do you want to see on this thread/ do you have any ideas or suggestions?
I like the idea of challenges and just checking in to hold myself accountable.
What have you been eating, and drinking?
Lots and lots of water! Coffee, especially today after having to wake DD up for school for the first day post daylight savings time. We generally eat lots of veggies and pretty light on meat but I need to cut back on the carbs and sweets. I've been spending a ton of nap times trying out new baking recipes.
Do you have anything else you want to share?
I will be 12 weeks on Wednesday.
Have you been cleared to start exercising again? If so, what have you been doing to get back into being active and healthy?
Yes, I was cleared at my 6 week PP appointment. The weather has been super weird, but on nice days we will go for a walk. I can't wait for the summer time to go swimming! I enjoy actual swimming for exercise.
What do you want to see on this thread/ do you have any ideas or suggestions?
I would like help being motivated/accountable for being active. I don't really have any ideas or suggestions at the moment. I'll add if I think of anything!
What have you been eating, and drinking?
This is where I struggle the most. I eat pretty much whatever I want (with the exception of BFing no no's). I need to start eating more fruits/veggies and less carbs. I've never been much of a coffee/soda drinker so caffeine isn't a big issue for me.
Do you have anything else you want to share?
I hope we are all able to help each other out! I've struggled with my size for many years, and my goal is to try and live a healthier lifestyle rather than focus on the weight loss. I figure that the weight loss should come in due time with more active and healthier choices.
How many weeks PP are you? 5.5
Have you been cleared to start exercising again? If so, what have you been doing to get back into being active and healthy? I should be cleared Monday! The last ten days or so I have been increasing my squats and pelvic lifts to strengthen the uterine floor muscles since I seem to still be battling some urinary control issues...
What do you want to see on this thread/ do you have any ideas or suggestions? i kind of just like the accountability of people posting in here weekly and the reminder to exercise. It's like someone randomly saying kegel...
What have you been eating, and drinking? Umm a lot of fruit, toast, oatmeal, cereal. I'm so sick of chicken from during pregnancy but I need to get back on that train.
Do you have anything else you want to share? After I get cleared to workout, I'm thinking of doing a 30 day trial of beach body on demand to really kick start rebuilding some muscles. When I go back to work, I'll return to my routine of working out over lunch. Until then, I need motivation.
4 Weeks
Have you been cleared to start exercising again? If so, what have you been doing to get back into being active and healthy?
Two more weeks till my doctor's appointment... Not really looking forward to being poked and prodded after all this time regaining my dignity.
What do you want to see on this thread/ do you have any ideas or suggestions?
I like the idea of sharing recipes and hearing how people are easing back into exercise. Also, I think that just having this thread going will be a good reminder/motivator to work on all this stuff.
What have you been eating, and drinking?
We had moms visiting for the first four weeks; so, I'm just now getting back to cooking my own meals and deciding what to eat and drink. I'm hoping to get to the grocery store this week and fill the fridge with fruits and veggies. I definitely feel like I've been lacking healthy options and have given into cookie, etc. temptations.
Do you have anything else you want to share?
Any one else find themselves smelling worse than normal? I feel like I haven't been doing much these days, but in less than 24 hours after a shower, BO is a serious issue... I don't think I normally smell this way. I hope. I am worried that if I start exercising again, this will become an even worse issue.
How many weeks PP are you?

Have you been cleared to start exercising again? If so, what have you been doing to get back into being active and healthy?
Not yet -- hoping I'll be cleared at my 6 week appointment coming up. In the meantime, I've been going on walks (weather permitting) with my LO.
What do you want to see on this thread/ do you have any ideas or suggestions?
Agree with others about being held accountable - I also think sharing healthy recipes would be great, as would the challenges.
What have you been eating, and drinking?
I had GD while pregnant, so I've been indulging in eating all the carbs! But I need to get back on track soon. Coffee, of course, and trying to increase my water intake. And trying to have a salad with every meal (though this doesn't always happen).
Do you have anything else you want to share?
Will be 2 weeks on Thursday.
Have you been cleared to start exercising again? If so, what have you been doing to get back into being active and healthy?
Not yet. I have another 4 weeks. We had one nice weather day last week so I took Ridley out in his stroller. Sadly just walking up and back on my street was too much for both my lungs and stitches. The next day I could hardly walk. Now we have a blizzard going on so it'll be a bit before I can try again
What do you want to see on this thread/ do you have any ideas or suggestions?
I like the accountability and would like to join in on a challenge. I'd like to find workouts to do with Ridley.
What have you been eating, and drinking?
I have been trying to eat healthier and am only drinking water but I need to drink more

Have you been cleared to start exercising again? If so, what have you been doing to get back into being active and healthy?
My midwife never really gave me a limit to get back into exercising. It was more or less if I felt okay to go for walks and things like that then I'm good to go. People have been on the surprised side with how much I tore during birth, but I've basically just made sure not to over exert myself. I just take short little walks and do trips to the grocery store. Nothing strenuous yet, hopefully in the weeks coming up I'll be taking the dog out for good long walks with the little one in the stroller.
What do you want to see on this thread/ do you have any ideas or suggestions?
Healthy recipe ideas would be cool if any mommas have them. I'm not much of a cook but I'll take any kind of guidance or suggestions
What have you been eating, and drinking?
I've been doing my best to get a decent serving of fruits and vegetables in the day, I've also been having more yogurt and milk than I normally do to keep up my vitamin D. My breakfast usually consists of cereal or toast with an apple or banana and some yogurt, for lunch it's a sandwich with a fair amount of veggies, and then dinner is normally veggies, another apple, cheese, and some crackers. I'm drinking as much water as I can too since I've been told breast feeding can dehydrate you. I won't lie though, for snack times I sneak cookies more than I should >> <<
