I took a chunk out of my first son's thumb with clippers the first time I tried. We went to baby scissors after that.

Am I going crazy thinking that kegels kind of hurt/are uncomfortable at this point? Just shy of 39 weeks. I assume it's because baby is sitting so low?

For those who EP, how long did it take before your nipples weren't freaking sensitive all the time? I'm on my 11th full day of pumping and wowzers do they hurt like almost all the time! Especially the 20-ish minutes following a pump session.

Are you sure the flanges are the right size?

^^^ This. Sounds like the flanges might be too small which can lead to pinching and discomfort. Pumping shouldn't be that painful. Also, do you use any type of nipple cream or anything to help with the friction?

I don't know how to tell if the flanges are the right size...

and i use nipple cream every single time! I can't use the pump without it!

edit: it doesn't hurt while I'm pumping, just afterwards.

@longliveregina yup, mine definitely looks like the too large picture, though I have really small areolas so the end of my nipple looks like the too small picture... guess I need to see the LC when I go to the hospital today!

I found some mommy and baby groups in my local area, one is meeting next week when baby is 3 weeks old, another is meeting when baby is 3 weeks and a few days old. Is that too young to take to a function at a local park?

I'm glad I could help! I had that problem too when I started pumping at work; I know medals has different flange sizes, and I'm sure other pumps must, too.

I don't see why not if the weather is warm enough and you feel up to it. Outside is great because I feel like confined spaces have more germs, lol. I took my son and 1 week old baby to the neighborhood park yesterday.

I'd say go for it! Going to a moms group with strangers sounds more appealing than trying to go to something with family or friends where everyone will want to hold baby and generally just be annoying . New ppl will just provide company and leave you and baby alone otherwise ;p haha.

Hey @Cbeanz how has the transition to three been, now that you're in the thick of it? I've heard 2 to 3 is the hardest so I'm really curious to hear your perspective!

Picture adding a 4 year old to the mix. She's at the age where she can follow directions and even help slightly (can you hand me a diaper, here please throw this in the garbage etc). But it's the newborn-2yo situation again that's a challenge. Always nervous the 2yo will accidentally hurt the newborn. I think so far it's just been incrementally more chaotic with 3, but honestly after 2 it's not like our lives were going to become chaos free anytime soon.

The big girls are still in preschool 4d/wk now, and then in June they'll be home. That's when it'll really hit the fan! Lol

I will say that DH is Superman as he is getting up with our sleepless 2yo every night while I take 100% care of DD3. I couldn't do this (or even 2 kids!) without his help.

How long did those with tears & the dreaded H's use tuck pads? I'm trying to decide how many to order from Amazon...I'm alternating them with earth Mama stuff (which I don't find as relieving as the AER hospital pads) but isn't as wet - which is what the OB suggested...

I used the earth Mama spray and one container of tucks pads last time. I had stitches from a 2nd degree tear and awful H last time. Even the nurses we're commenting on them

it's a 2.5 hour drive I'd have to make and contemplating leaving it for someone else to do and hitch a ride with DH when we move.

I drove 30min (one way) two days after birth for our first pediatrician appointment.

I think it depends totally on how you're feeling. But if it's a decently easy option to go with DH - then take it! Especially if it's your first long drive with LO.

FTM paranoia, how do i know I'm forming a good attachment with baby? There have been times I accidentally let him reach screaming hunger and sometimes I have been too tired to cuddle and talk with him. Am I in trouble?

No, you're not in trouble. You're over thinking

As for the screaming hunger, doesn't that happen to everyone? I mean, my babies seem to instantly want to nurse the second I get in the shower.

Neither does your baby need you to constantly stimulate him. Newborns sleep most of the time anyway. Use diaper changes and such to really intentionally talk to your babe. Its okay to nap while baby is perfectly happy in his bassinet or whatever.

Attachment comes from creating a relationship of trust. As the days go on, your little learns to trust you to take care of his physical and emotional needs. It's in the cumulative relationship.
