Is anyone mixing medications to decrease the number of shots? One of the nurses at my clinic told me I could mix menopur and cetrotide but I just did it and it kind of makes me nervous... I feel like some of the nurses have told me different things.

  • @mandasand - congrats on your DH getting that award! very exciting!
When is your next appointment? I tried to go to bed over an hour ago, but I guess i'm nervous about finding out how my E2 is rising tomorrow morning, it's hard to sleep! i'm on 225 of gonal-f and only 1 vial of menopur, so I wonder if they'll up either of those tomorrow...also wondering if they'll have a better idea of when ER will be...!
  • @HottLemonade2886 yay for 7 fertilized, that’s a great number. Fingers crossed they all keep growing xx

LoveDontCostAThing sounds like you are doing the right decision about when to trigger, fingers crossed there’ll be many matured and maybe still a chance for fresh transfer though frozen is also good! xxx

caseyw8784 ugh sorry to hear your cetrotide needle is thicker :( Fingers crossed for your first ultrasound xxx

mandasand thinking of you and keeping my fingers crossed for your ultrasound tomorrow.

AFM I’ll have my baseline check on Sunday. Trying to keep calm and plan is to sleep more this cycle. Though I've just started at a new job, I really hope I can keep stress at bay.

  • Whoa, I stay away for a day and there's so much action. I think I'm losing track of people, but it looks like overall good news.
@QsMadd FX that the ultrasound shadow is not a polyp!
@kgtg how did your baseline appointment go? did you get to start stims? We might be cycle buddies

AFM, sounds like my baseline was fine because the nurse called in the afternoon and gave me the greenlight. I took follistim and menopur last night. I wasn't prepared for the menopur to burn so badly, I pulled it out half way through. Some of it ran down my belly and DH got mad that I was wasting it. Then I got a third poke to finish the syringe. Bleh. Well practice makes perfect. Maybe I'll try ice tonight.

    -Sugar

  • @mtele never mixed meds! Let us know how it goes!

@LoveDontCostAThing my clinic swears by frozen so much that they refuse to do fresh for any one at any time for any reason!

  • Just got home from my appointment! I think it went well - my right ovary has 1 follicle at 10mm, and 9 smaller follicles; my left has 1 follicle at 10.5mm, and 10 smaller follicles (this office only bothers to individually measure follicles once they reach 10mm.) I'm really hoping that all/most of these follicles will mature cause we need as many as we can get since PGS might eliminate roughly 30% and PGD might eliminate 50% of the remainder! :fearful:

Just waiting to hear what my E2 is. tonight will be the 7th night of stims, so i wonder if they will up the gonal-f and/or menopur to give the follicles more of a push...

@SugarHead baseline went well, they gave me the go ahead to start stimms last night. I am on 150 of Gonal-f until Sunday then I go in for bloodwork on Monday morning! Are we cycle buddies!? How exciting
  • @KGTG - so exciting for you to start! how was the first night of gonal-f? i started off this cycle on a slightly higher dose  (187.5) but now am up at 225.

@caseyw8784 I was a total baby and freaked out for about 2 mins before hubby inserted the needle, then I felt super silly because I basically didn't even feel it! I woke up with a headache this morning but I am also battling a bad cold and don't know who to blame the headache for. How did you feel after being on gonal-f for the first few days!?
  • @KGTG - i freaked out for a few minutes beforehand my first night too! DH just sat there on the couch trying to ignore me, but then ended up offering to do it, but i ended up doing it. they're not as bad as they seem! I still put bandaids on even though i know i don't need them, but they make me feel better/more in control or something...
  • KGTGKGTG member
@caseyw8784 ha! I bought "Frozen" bandaids and even though I didn't need one last night Olaf made me feel a lot better afterwards. ☃️
  • @caseyw8784 sounds like things are growing well. Did your doctor tell you if you're still on track for ER next week? My appointment is this morning but doctor didn't tell me to get E2 beforehand so I'm not sure what my levels are. i only have 3 injections of gonal-f and 2 injections of Menopur left so I may need to get more meds, especially since I have a tendency to take a little longer to cook my follies.

@mandasand - i haven't heard from my doctor yet - only saw the ultrasound tech this morning, but hopefully the portal message will say something, if not i'll give them a call to inquire. I'm almost out of gonal-f too...if they don't up it, after monday's shot i'll be out. Was planning to call cvs caremark today to get a refill. Menopur i still have 6 or 7 vials (i only have been doing 1 vial each night) What size gonal-f pens do you have? i was given 4 450iu pens...i wish they gave me more or the bigger dose ones...lol

@KGTG - i also have had a headache since the moring after the first dose of gonal-f, but it was mostly controllable with (decaf/herbal) tea and tylenol. last night got a stronger headache since it was the first night will all 3 shots, but i luckily was able to be tired enough to just go to bed early so it wasn't that bad...
I have tmnt, minions, and star wars bandaids! last night i randomly picked a few, and they happened to be darth vader, a storm trooper, and yoda...so i took a pic of them (before i stuck them on me) and sent it to my 7 y/o nephew...he liked that is was a "good vs evil battle"
  • @mtele I mixed menopur and follistim! Once I added in ganirilex, that was a separate injection
  • I am little late to the party, but hope you ladies don't mind me joining!

My ER is likely going to be on Tuesday.  Today is day 8 of stims and I am taking Menapur, Gonal, Omnitrope, and Cetrotide.

I had about 12 follicles between 11 and 17 on Thurs 3/2 and E2 of 1200.  I was really happy after that appointment.

Today there were 10 follicles between 13 and 27 and 5 that were 10 and under with an E2 of 2100.  I have four follicles in the 22-27 range and am nervous that they are too big :-/

    Happy thoughts to all!

  • @caseyw8784 I have the 900u pens. Doc said there's like 975 in each pen. I have two pens left over from last cycle, unopened but since my meds are covered, I'll probably just keep those as back up although I think they technically expired Feb. I may also have some Menopur in the closet. I'm like a pharmacy and a med hoarder!

  • Hi Everyone!  Loved reading all the updates!  Soooo, I am triggering tonight at 11:00pm!  I'm going to be specific because I want to know everyone's thoughts.  My follicles are: 22.3, 12.6, 12.6, 14.3, 13.3, 16, 18.3, 14.6, 16.3, 18, 13.3, 14, and a few <10mm.  I know they can still grow, but how many do you think will make it?  I am still taking one more 150 dose of menopur tonight, and the retrieval will be on Monday.  It's ashame because I could stim longer and get more...the nurse said my body likes these meds, and if I had two ovaries I might hyper stim.  But I can't because my LH surge/ levels, and they obviously don't want me to ovulate.  On a brighter note, they said I will be able to do a fresh transfer because my progesterone level went down.  Never a dull moment!!

  • @LoveDontCostAThing - yay for triggering tonight! that's a good number of follicles. Don't quote me, but I've heard that the trigger itself will sometimes make some of the smaller follicles quickly catch up, so maybe (hopefully?) a few of the smaller ones will make it? ::shrugs::  FX and good luck on monday!
  • @caseyw8784 -I won't quote you on it, but I certainly like that theory! lol  I am not expecting much from the ones <10mm, but if I could get the 12 mature that would be GREAT!!!  Thanks, and good luck to you too...we will keep each other updated!

  • @LoveDontCostAThing - It sounds like you have a great number of follicles and the fact that they are similar in size is even better.  The trigger definitely matures the eggs, so some of the smaller ones should catch up for Monday.  Good luck!

  • just heard from my doctor. E2 rose to 251. they're having me continue with the same dosages of gonal, menopur, and cetrotide, and will go back on Monday morning for another ultrasound and E2 level. i'm hoping that they just started me off on such a low level of gonal, now that they upped it, things will start happening...
  • Hi all! Switching to the March IVF group from the February since I started in January and was stimulating through most of February, now hoping to FET on March 14!! Anyone else doing FET this round?
Stage IV endometriosis - 2 laparoscopic procedures 2016
    Hashimoto's Hypothyroidism
Failed IVF round in 2016 - 6 mature eggs, 0 normal embryos on PGS testing
2nd round IVF started Jan 2017 ER - 11 mature eggs, 11 fertilized, ONE normal embryo
  • @LoveDontCostAThing Anything north of 13mm is preferred so you can count on having lots of mature follies based on your counts.

Had my ultrasound this morning. It was all good! I have 6-7 follies between 5-11mm. I start Granilix on Sunday and continue with meno and gonal. I go in Tuesday for bloodwork and ultrasound.

I was so nervous, this point in October I only had the one follies growing so this is so much more improved! I actually got all the paperwork for the OR I have to take in on Tuesday.

My new ER is probably Friday 3/10. Hubs and I are going to the movies!

  • Ugh. They are only seeing like 4-6 follies. Fantastic. I was supposed to get MORE than 8 this cycle because I did micro flare protocol. Instead it looks like I'll get 50% LESS. Well I am just so happy right now. And the doctor I saw today said likely my eggs are all of poor quality. Great.

  • @mandasand - yay for a good ultrasound! did they say what your E2 level was, too? I kind of wish that my doctor's office would say how big the ones under 10mm were, so I would know if they're close to 10, or really tiny and probably won't become anything...lol. We might be ER day buddies, too!

@STO210 I don't know why but likely do to all of my cps and not responding well to high amounts of stims. And my poor fertilization to blast rate. She thinks I'll be lucky if I get a single blast out of this cycle and there is a 50% chance it won't be PGS normal. So this was a $10k bath I am taking right now. Also- blowing thru half of my ERs with nothing but a cp to show for it.

  • @caseyw8784 no I didn't do blood today, I did it Thursday and it was 117. I'll do it again Tuesday but I'm pretty sure it's doubling based on my ultrasound today showing my 6 measurable follies. Here are the #s:
    Right: 11.9, 9.8, 8.2
    Left: 7.2, 6.1, 4.9

i can't remember if he said there's another one on the right or left, it was being blocked by another follie. He really dug around in there, it wasn't pleasant!

my husband actually thinks he measured wrong because the left should be somewhat similar to the right in terms of size. He watched him do it and thinks he wasn't measuring accurately! LOL!

Doc said that they want to see follies at 18mm but anything north of 13 will fertilize. I'm trying not to focus too much on the numbers since I've read on this forum too many times that they see x number of follies and end up retrieving a higher #. I'll take 6!!! I'm not at all disappointed! Seriously! I'm so happy!

  • @mandasand - it is kinda of funny how similar our cycles are going! I had a stupid moment earlier and used Dr Google to see how my E2 level compared and the number of follicles and stuff based on other people and it freaked me out a bit. The smarter part of me knows not to pay attention to any of it, and trust that my doctor knows what she's doing...ie, upping the meds more if she thinks i'm not responding well enough, etc! I know I should/will be happy with whatever mature eggs we get, but part of me *almost* wants to over-stim a teeny bit since we were told to expect that about half of the embryos will be PGD tested as abnormal. Looking forward to Monday to see what progress they've made!

Yay for your 6! FX that they keep on growing and you'll see them a lot bigger on Tuesday (if you also have a US then too)!
  • OOH! SO much to catch up on! Two days of crazy work schedule (and more appts every day..) To put my progress in perspective with my protocol so you ladies in the same timeframe as me can see the rate of change...

Day 10 of stims. 300Gonal, 4 amps menopur and 250 cetrotide. Have had no adjustments to my med plan at all throughout this. Baseline ultra had me with two follies on each side. Ultra two days later showed  total of 4 measurable (over 11.0). Ultra two days later there were 10!!!! That was yesterday, and they decided to have me stim one more day since my E2 was not at their trigger threshold.  Tuesday's blood test I was at 300, two days later, 760, yesterday 1100 and today? 1990!!! Today's ultrasound? 17 follies measurable. WOW. They want me at E2 of 2500 and to 'grow em' one more day...

Weird thing though, yesterday I had one large follie on each ovary that upped the size ratio of my total follies (I guess how my doc determines if its go time or not...) today? It seems what they THOUGHT yesterday were two large follicles actually presented today as FOUR medium sized in the same place!  This lowered the average size of my lil ladies and so they have me stimming one more day.

Tomorrow hopefully the last of the morning meds (cetrotide and meno) and a final ultrasound and blood test.  Tomorrow looks like trigger day... and based on how i feel (like a bloated pin cushion), BRING. IT. ON.

Luckily I am on vacation this next week just in case of fresh transfer. And I can catch up tomorrow with what's going on with everyone! You all have had so much going on! Go ladies! :)

@HottLemonade2886 We most likely are PGSing and doing a freeze cycle too, now that I have more follicles. I agree 6 weeks sounds like FOREVER.

    Catch up more tomorrow!
  • @cmiller73 - that's amazing how well you're responding! good luck with the trigger (hopefully) tomorrow!
  • @caseyw8784 thanks and oooof. tonight's meds kicked my #$$. Headache and tired immediately... guess the E2 is getting up there... Up to yesterday I had the Gonal F multi dose vial... but since I've been day to day meds, i go get a 300 pen as needed.  the pen's HURT and I've actually needed my Star Wars bandaids! UGH.

Thread question: One thing I noticed that we all do differently: time of day to take shots.  When do you ladies take?  I've been given specific instructions to take Gonal at night and Cetrotide and Menopur each morning. No mixing or deviating from timing.... did you ladies get such specific instructions?
  • @cmiller73 excellent results!

  • @mandsand thanks but actually I am not anxious. I'm just going through the motions until the doctor approves me for egg donation. I am assuming I might have to do a third ER for that since everything is unexplained with me and there is no real diagnosis. If anything I need positive affirmations to develop PCOS or some other diagnosable and treatable condition. I am an avowed aethiest and this is all a little hocus pocus for me. And my doctor has so little faith stress plays any factor into anything he won't even order a test for cortisol levels. Nor does he recommend affirmations. He thinks that even taking supplements is an act of desperation on my part and won't work. So. That's my reality. Be thankful it isn't yours!

  • @cmiller73 - tonight's gonal pen hurt too! actually, all 3 of the shots hurt more than previous night...is it common for them to hurt more as the cycle advances? My doctor told me to take all 3 of the shots between 7 pm and 8 pm each night. no mixing either.

AFM, a little frustrated with my pharmacy. I use CVS Caremark, and called the main line today for a Gonal-F refill since I'll use it up on Monday night, and the guy I spoke to today said that the "local" pharmacy that sends the meds are closed for the weekend, so i should just call first thing Monday morning for either same day delivery or more likely overnight delivery...well, crap. I'll be fine if my RE doesn't up my dosage...(I have one 450iu pen left, and tomorrow night my dose is 225)...if my RE ups it at all i might be able to get some of the extra meds out of the already used pens that i still have in the fridge, but it's cutting it close! I've heard some other posters saying that their pharmacy is closed on Sunday, but hadn't heard of both Sat and Sun!
