March IVF

Re: March IVF

  • @cmiller73 my ER is next week as well. I have blood tomorrow and U/S Friday. I'm on 300 gonal-f and 2 vials Menopur, I'll probably start Garnilix on Friday. My headaches are worse at night too. Since I'm at the military clinic, the monitoring is not as frequent. They like me to do lots of bloodwork but not so many ultrasounds. It makes me a little nervous because I really want to make sure all my follies are growing evenly since that has been an issue for me. I've been doing meditation to specifically target equal follicle growth. I know it's a little whacky but it makes me feel better.

  • Ugh! Got the call that DH's sperm didn't thaw well so now we have to rush over and have another aspiration before my ER today. Now we will both be recovering and not to mention paying a couple thousand again for it.

  • @cmiller73 - ER will probably be end of next week/next weekend, if I'm estimating correctly! When next week are you estimating yours?

@mandasand - would you be able to get more ultrasounds if requested? would you have to pay extra? my headaches also seem to be bigger in the evening also, blech!

@HottLemonade2886 - oh no! I hope everything goes/went smoothly with the aspiration! really sucks about the extra cost, though :disappointed:
And good luck with the ER - looking forward to hearing how many eggs they were able to get!

@laurad75 - i use CVS Caremark. They overnighted the meds when they were first delivered, so I'm assuming they can be overnighted again...
  • WHOA! Well, just back from u/s and the nurse thinks I'll trigger tomorrow night! Unexpected to say the least. This time I was able to get much more information from the nurse (and the u/s tech took time and was very thorough unlike how I felt last time...) Waiting to get the official word from the doc this afternoon.

So I will probably be having my ER Sunday or Monday (depending on if they have me trigger Friday night or Saturday!)  :o

WOW. Ok, this is good. Quality over quantity... just keep swimming... (maybe I should have gotten the Dori bandaids!)

No adjustments to my meds and I have a bunch more follies about to be measurable. It's amazing how much happens in the course of 2 days!  :o

I did get the "what's your benchmark for PGS" talk today which was a bit scary, tbh. Now the fresh transfer might be on the table again depending on the embryos we get.  8am discussions with DH about all the options was... interesting. It's a lot for anyone to digest, even us ladies who have immersed ourselves in learning about it and been dealing with the details for weeks/months!

@caseyw8784 looks like I'll be in ER before you by a BUNCH!

@mandasand OOH, I think I will add more specifics to my meditations (mine have been about encouraging good responses to medication and deep rest and relaxation.  I do have affirmations everywhere that I go through whenever I am by the post its (DH def thinks I'm loony).

@HottLemonade2886 FX for an easy aspiration and recovery for you both!

  • Heading home. Aspiration and ER went well. They got 14 eggs. We will find out tomorrow how many fertilized. Feeling okay. Had a bout of nausea when I first got up so they gave me some meds that helped. Now just some cramping and tired.

  • Update:
    cycle day 5: E2 117 (doubled from cd3)
    ultrasound Saturday morning

Doctor said E2 is on lower side for "normal" patient but as expected for me with low AMH. He said it will probably just take me more time. They don't want to do U/S too early because they won't really "see anything" until E2 is at 300. Since I've been doubling then Saturday is a good day to do U/S.

  • @Cmiller that's great news! It's always fun to get unexpected good new. How many follicles are they seeing? All the best on retrieval this weekend.

@HottLemonade2886 I'm glad your procedures went well. I have you have a great recovery and a good fertilization report

@rainbowwishes5 and @LoveDontCostAThing good luck with your ER this weekend as well. FX for the good quality mature eggs your looking for

@Angelaag omg I couldn't tell you how many times I've looked at my medications over the past couple of weeks. It's so exciting to have them. I've even photographed them for my scrapbook!

AFM, I stopped my OCP today and my baseline sono and lab Appt is now scheduled for tomorrow morning. I'm praying it goes well and we can start injections tomorrow night.

    -Sugar
  • @SugarHead - yay for finally being able to start everything! good luck with your baseline tomorrow!

@Angelaag - i know that feeling!! I got my meds about a week or so before I started injections...i stared, i took a couple pictures of everything all laid out, and then i organized it all in a tupperware container that lives on our kitchen counter (except for the gonal-f and cetrotide, which live in the fridge!) also, good luck at your baseline on tuesday!

  • @HottLemonade2886 that's great! FX for lots fertilized!

    Baseline ✔️

12 little follies! Now I get to wait for portal instructions, I am hoping to start stimming tonight!!!
  • Got the call that 7 out of the 14 eggs fertilized. I was hoping for a higher number but feeling blessed that we have 7 possible babies. I wasn't told how many of my eggs were mature but remember the doctor saying I had 7-8 very nice sized follicles so it's possible only 7-8 were mature. FX those 7 keep growing!

  • hey ladies! for those of you who've done transfers before, do you know if it's normal to feel like your period is coming prior to the transfer? I'm doing my ET tomorrow morning & have been on crinone 8% gel since Wednesday. Haven't had any side effects from it that I've noticed until feeling like AF is coming today.

  • Thanks @caseyw8784 and @SugarHead! @HottLemonade2886 FX for you!

Has anyone had really bad side effects from any meds? I'm super sensitive to medication. The BCP made me super tired and I constantly spotted for the entire month. It looks like I'm likely in store for cramping and headaches. I'm on Antagonist.
  • @angelaag yes. Follistim gave me headaches from exactly 30 minutes after the first injection. My estrogen was sky high so they were pretty bad. I'm having the same thing now with my FET estrogen prep. BCP spotting is miserable, I'm so sorry

  • @Angelaag - i've had a headache from the morning after my first gonal-f injection. I'm also sensitive with bloating - the bloat is so real. I've been living in yoga pants the last few days! and (sorry, tmi) my boobs are getting pretty sore and are filling my bras more than before!
  • @HottLemonade2886 -7 is good!  Are you going to grow them to three or five day?

I just talked to my dr.  I'm in a weird predicament...well, not that weird lol.  My follicles are all different sizes.  I have 11 follicles that are between 13.3 and 21mm.  My progesterone is 1.25.  They can trigger me tonight, but risk not having as many mature or trigger me tomorrow, but risk my progesterone reaching 2.0, and then I would have to freeze because they want the level whatever they want it...I don't know.  Anyway, he recommended triggering tomorrow, which I am going to do to try to get as many mature as possible.  There is a chance I can still do a fresh, depending on my bloods tomorrow...but I may have to freeze :(  I never did a fresh, and I wanted to!

  • 6th night of stims for me. First night of adding the cetrotide. Was unpleasantly surprised cause the injection needle for that one seemed a lot thicker than the ones for the menopur and gonal-f. DH had been called into work for overtime, so it kind of sucked not having anyone there for mental support...lol.

Today felt more "full" and bloated than previously, and felt some aches. I'm hoping that means the meds are working! Have a 7 am ultrasound and blood work appointment in the morning, so I guess I'll have some answers soon!
  • @caseyw8784 -you are on the same protocol as me...gonal, menopur, and cetrotide.  The injection needle on my cetrotide doesn't seem thicker...ugh I'm sorry yours is.  What day of stims are you on?

@rainbowwishes5 -thanks...I did hear that frozen and fresh have similar success rates.  I am just eager, and wanted to do the immediate fresh.  I know it's smarter to wait and try to get more mature eggs, though.

@HottLemonade2886 -How long does it take to get the PGS results?

  • @HottLemonade2886 congrats on 7!! I hope they keep growing for you!!
@Angelaag yes! I'm horribly bloated, very tired and a little more emotional than normal...but for me the bloat is the worst!
  • @LoveDontCostAThing - today is day 6. tomorrow is the 1st ultrasound, so i'm kind of excited to find out how things are progressing. what day of stims are you on?
  • @HottLemonade2886 ..... 7 is great! Congrats!

@caseyw8784 we are on the same day of stims! I am doing follistim and low dose hCG though.

I have had appointments everyday for the last three days and another one tomorrow morning. I should start taking my ganirelix tomorrow.

Unfortunately, during my ultrasound this morning, a 1.0 cm shadow popped up. She said it looked like a polyp. They didn't see it during any other ultrasound this week, so we are hoping it is may have been a blood clot or my lining was just thicker in that area. Tomorrow morning, we should have a better idea but I am pretty upset with my uterus at the moment. My polyps seem to always come back after removal within 1-2 months....it is so frustrating.

If it doesn't go away, then I have to have another hysteroscopy during the egg retrieval to see what it is. If it is another polyp, then polypectomy and freezing instead of fresh cycle.

The problem with freezing is that even if we remove it, they come back so quickly that I would be constantly racing against the polyps in trying to transfer embryos.

I work as a PA, and I have used every avenue to find more data on polyps to try to diminish the recurrence but there is such little research that I am an anomaly....especially with my unique endometrial lining pattern.

    Frustrating evening.

  • @LoveDontCostAThing - They actually said the results could take up to 6 weeks which sounds crazy to me. I believe the lab website says 7-10 days so that's a pretty big difference. I guess we will just wait and see.

@QsMadd -Frustrating news. FX you will find out tomorrow it's nothing to worry about.

  • @LoveDontCostAThing - FX that you do get to trigger tomorrow! I had bloodwork on day 4, and i guess my estradiol was on the low end (it was 70?)  cause they upped my gonal-f, so I think they wanted to give it an extra day to take effect before doing an ultrasound...
  • @LoveDontCostAThing It's freaking me out a little that @caseyw8784 and I are in the exact same boat! My labs day 3 were low and at day 5 at 117 so they wanted to give me an extra couple days of stims before first ultrasound, which will be tomorrow (day 7). My doctor said they don't like to do ultrasounds until E2 is at 300 because they won't be able to see much until the estradiol levels are higher (i.e. measurable follicles). I am on 2 vials Meno and 300 gonal, I'll most likely start Garnilix tomorrow. I am praying seriously hard my E2 is doubling (it has been since CD3) and have lots of evenly sized follicles. Again this cycle I'm doing it mainly alone. My husband was able to go to the baseline but he is mostly MIA. I'm not too bothered about it because he's in law school and had midterms this week, plus he's the president of the veterans legal society and works in the law library, so he's got a full plate. He just found out that he is being awarded the "student of distinction" award which is kind of a big deal, they have a reception and everything. So I'm hoping all his good news rubs off on me!
