Just had my 40+ week appointment. I'm still dilated the same that I was last week, but she did say that she feels like my bag of waters is "bulging" so she won't be surprised if it breaks naturally before my induction date (this Saturday). She also had me do another growth scan to see what he's estimating at, since I had trouble getting DD out and she was a peanut. I'm still anxiously awaiting the results, even though I know they are notoriously off base.
Bottom line - still pregnant. overdue. and trying so hard to respond nicely to my well-meaning co-workers who are regularly sending "still no baby?" e-mails.
Just left my 38+3 appointment. My blood pressure is back down to 120/70 which is excellent. Swelling also much better than last week. However head is as low as it's going to go until I'm about ~9cm per the OB which I find exciting yet painful & would like it to go away. Apparently it's a good thing for labor but ouch. I'll have my first internal check next week - "If I last that long." I feel like the Dr. either jinxed me & I'll be a solid 41 weeks (shoot me now) or maybe this weekend. Or who really knows, but those must be famous Dr last words...
Just came from my last appointment! Doctor said she couldn't believe I'm walking around at 4-5 cm and nothing! Inducing on Wednesday if he hasn't made his appearance by then.
This was me too! I was 4cm for 3 full weeks with no active labor. How that is even possible is mind boggling. When my water finally broke and I was admitted to the hospital, I was at 6cm.
I had my 39 week appointment today! All is still looking great.... Head is down and has lots of fluid, HR is 144, no change in my vitals. We opted not to do a vaginal exam so I don't know about dilation, but I haven't had any symptoms so we assume I haven't. Going in on Monday for an acupuncture appt to encourage labor, so as to avoid any talk about induction due to my age! My next MW appt is 3/8.
Had an appointment today at 39 weeks 5 days. Apparently I'm still only dilated to 1, which is where I was last week. They scheduled an inductions for the 11th, 8 days post due date, so I'm really hoping she will be here before then. I know things can change at the drop of a hat, but it was still kind of discouraging.
Had my appt today, at 37+2, and found out I'm GBS negative, baby is still head down, good blood pressure, urine is good, and that the midwives are fine with us trying some natural induction methods, which I'll probably just start with some RRL tea this week and get more into the sex, EPO, spicy foods, etc, by next week.
When they checked the baby's position, feeling low for the head, I felt a stinging/cramping sensation which is new..and exciting! They said he is pretty engaged into my pelvis as well, so all of my forward leaning, wide leg sitting and ball-bouncing hasn't been for nothing! I also slowly crawl on hands and knees, forward and backwards, twice daily to help ensure good positioning...I read that somewhere and figure it can't hurt!
Had another NST this morning. The nurse had some difficulty finding babe's heartbeat. She is really low in my abdomen and must have been facing back. Finally we got the heart beat. Well after all that they go and take my BP: with a SMALL cuff they got 145/90 - WAY higher than I usually get. She changed cuff and got the following: 131/88, 134/91. Then babe moved again or something so nurse had me go on my side to try to get a better heart rate again. BP on my side 120/77, 111/73. Needless to say this was a very stressful NON Stress test, because then the DR wanted to do another round of blood work. Last round was 2 weeks ago and were ok.
I'm just ready for baby girl to be here so her and I don't have to go through this anymore. Then I get to work and my co-worker (who is also pregnant - due in April), probably won't be back....she's getting her appendix removed today and there is talk that she may be monitored for 6 weeks until she delivers. So, I come in today and have a lot more work to do than anticipated.
Had my last OB appointment today at 39w1d...the little guy wasn't very cooperative during the non stress test so we had to do an u/s just to be sure (everything's fine). Doctor checked my cervix and said I'm about 70% effaced and maybe 2cm dilated. Scheduled to check into the hospital tomorrow night to start the induction process. My BP when they checked my vitals was 120/74, then they took it in the exam room and it was 140/98...had me lay on my left side in the dark for 10 minutes or so and it was 116/73, so they let me go. Down 3 lbs this week.
Called my mom after the appointment and she asked if he was going to induce me tomorrow...I felt bad telling her no. I did tell her to go ahead and try to reschedule her boss coming to the bank next week just in case. She said her bag was packed and she's ready to go when we call them. I wish I would go into labor tonight or tomorrow so that I could tell them I wasn't induced...I have some RRL tea that I'll drink tonight and DH and I will DTD tonight....we both took tomorrow off work to get any last minute things done and just to relax and get some rest before we go to the hospital.

38+4 today at my visit. The power was out at my OB's office this morning but luckily they said they would still be able to see me since it was just a quick check and we weren't doing any scans or anything fancy. The power did come back about 10-15 minutes after my appointment was scheduled anyway. The nurse and my midwife kept apologizing about not having the old charts and that the room was so cold...lol it was all fine. BP was normal, head is down. Opted out of a cervical check but we did discuss again how late they will allow me to go before talking induction...they really don't like to let women get to 42 apparently so if baby hasn't come by next week's visit we will do a cervical check and then talk about what to do for the following week if induction is needed.
After we came home though, we decided to fool around a bit since it's been almost 2 weeks thanks to this lingering stuffy nose that I inconveniently got exposed to this late in the game...definitely had a little squirtage in bed following some manual stimulation but I'm like 95% positive it was just my bladder and not my water breaking. No contractions of any sort now either and it was odorless. I'm not crazy...right?

Had my 38 week appointment today with one of my favorite midwives. Measuring 37/38cm and the heart rate was higher than usual in the 150s. The craziest thing about this appointment was I left feeling like maybe it could be my last and it just seemed so surreal. I was only 1 day early with my son, so not anticipating a super early baby.. but also feeling very close to where I felt with him at the end.
For this child I prayed, and the Lord has granted me my petition that I made to him. 1 Samuel 1:27 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Had my appointment today at 37+6. Everything was looking good, HR was good and we did the stretch and sweep. Sitting at 1cm dilated currently and she said she was in a good, low position (having her poke her head was an odd sensation!). We just sold our house yesterday and move out by March 30th so I really don't want to go overdue! Time to jump on the labour kickstarter train to encourage baby to come out on time!
Finally met one of the midwives in the new group where I now live and so far so good. I think there's about 9 of them or so, so since I'm just joining the group at 38 weeks, I won't have time to meet all of them. The one I met today though was pretty cool and her presence put my mind at ease that I made the right choice with this group. I'm sure I'll probably get a midwife that I didn't meet when I go into labor, but oh well. After my appointment, she called the hospital to see if I could come and do a tour since I'd never been there and had no clue where I would be going when the day came. They said I could come over so I ran home and got my husband and son and we went back to the hospital. It's a really small and quaint facility with very nice sized rooms. I like that you stay in the room for both the birth and postpartum. At the hospital where I delivered my son, the postpartum room they put me in was itty bitty, so having a larger room the whole time will be nice. My only worry now is that everything goes smoothly with this delivery and the baby won't need the NICU, which happened last time. This hospital doesn't have a NICU or special care nursery, so in case of any craziness, the baby will be sent to downtown Portland 30 minutes away. Crossing my fingers that it won't come to that.
This is long....so after my ultrasound appt yesterday, I learned that baby is no longer breech (YAY) but then today I had an appt with the midwife and I got some news that I can't figure out how to process. Baby has been measuring big for the last 10 weeks. I'm AMA so I have frequent ultrasounds. I know the measurements can be off, but after so many consistently big readings, they are a bit more confident. And one of the readings was off the chart: his abdomen size. They sent the ultrasound images to MFM not only at the satellite hospital where I will deliver, but to MFM at the main hospital up in Boston to be read because it was measuring in the upper 90's percentile. MFM's recommendation is to treat as GD and retest. So they did a spot glucose test today and I'll do the fasting test at the hospital tomorrow. From what I understand, it is rare to develop GD so late in the game (especially when I passed in the totally normal range back at 28 weeks, and have had normal weight gain.) But it can happen and that would explain why his belly is so big. BUT when the tech was doing the ultrasound yesterday, she did say a few times how she was having trouble getting a good capture of his stomach. So.. who knows. They didn't send me away in a panic exactly, but told me to start following a GD, low-glycemic diet. And I have a non-stress test next week. They said they may order another ultrasound to check size, because a concern now, is because I'm rather small (I think average, but they called me small at 5'4") that they would offer me an elective c-section because I could potentially not deliver this baby if he gets much bigger in the next few weeks. I mean, I know @kjd291 just pushed out a 10+lb baby, so it's possible, but this whole thing is making me nervous now. I just learned that I didn't need a c-section because baby flipped, now today they are bringing it back on the table due to his size... and she told me NOT to google unchecked GD diagnosis. But baby looked great Wednesday and sounded great today on the doppler so I don't think I have a reason to worry??
Hmmmm van you get the ultrasound done at whatever hospital in Boston they are sending it to (Love BW if so!). Do you live in the burbs or? I wouldn't be scared off by size...however I'd want proportions evaluated with me in the room. That's just me though, I tend to worry & images are only as good as the US tech that takes them. Good news is it sounds like everyone is proactive & doing well all things considered.
@Goodmorning12 that's a good point - I live out on the cape, hospital is BID. I'll ask them at my NST next week if I can get the ultrasound with MFM instead of the same tech at the OB office. Thanks @hippiemama!
@jenny0228 I'm sorry mama! I hope you can process the news/get more information so you feel confident in whatever you choose to do from here on out! Do whatever you feel is best and makes you happy once you collect all the information from your team.
As you already said you know-they can Ben off! FWIW--I had an ultrasound the DAY of induction and it was exactly TWO pounds off//said baby weighed 8,5 and hello---10,5!!! So clearly they can be skewed!
thanks @kjd291! I hope they are off! Hopefully if I haven't developed GD, his belly size is not an indicator of anything else, or the tech just measured it wrong. Or, maybe I just have a super fat baby! His cheeks are CRAZY chubby in the ultrasound 3D pictures!
@jenny0228 my ultrasound was off by about a pound.. she has chubby cheeks but wasn't as "massive" as they were worried about.. I think a lot of it has to do with how baby is angled
I had my 36w appointment today. GBS test fun. I had so much anxiety about the doc seeing my hemorrhoids!
Quick US confirmed she is still breech. I started the paperwork for them to call me to schedule a c-section. They didn't call today which is annoying. I hope they call Monday so I can just know when the big day is!
Since she was all up in there I had a cervical check. Rock solid. Of course I had major spotting after which took me off guard! Thankfully it has slowed.
@jenny0228 I am currently going through the same thing! My little girl was measuring 4 weeks ahead on Monday and they told me to make an appointment at MFM to try and get a better reading. My OB was not very reassuring when she was taking the ultrasound measurements on Monday and honestly I'm not very pleased with her for not mentioning that late onset GD could be a reason the baby is so big. She didn't even ask for a urine sample! I'm hoping my MFM appointment on Thursday gives me better answers and trying my best not to panick about having such a big baby. FX that we both get good reassuring news next week and don't need c sections!!!
Thanks @Gators&BoSox- so true. Tech had trouble getting his stomach specifically and that is the reading they are concerned about
If that is the case--definitely don't let them concern you about a vaginal delivery. Even if baby is on the bigger end! A chubby big tummy doesn't effect pushing one bit-fat squishes and plops right out! The only c section concern is usually just the size of the head and shoulders (which also really isn't a concern for most women))
