Waiting for my midwife now!! I will update this by adding to the end of the thread and posting here that I updated. Induction, here I come....

For now, here is the room I'm laboring and delivering in. Its like a hotel, lol. Yes, that towel is folded into a swan! Plus I added one last (late) hdbd pic

Funny story, at one of my midwife appointments I was told "we dont advertise this, but we have been known to do hotel births for moms from out of town. Don't ever book room 108 at the Super 8". Made me laugh so hard.

That looks like a beautiful room to welcome a baby into the world. Good luck and can't wait to see pictures!

I'm dilated to 3 already but baby is not engaged so we're starting off with a little bit of Pit before breaking water...no ripening needed! Here's hoping that a Low dose and a broken water sacks all it takes!

Update!
So a very very tiny amount of Pit (like 2ml drip per hour) seems to have gotten things rolling. I had a ton of weak little contractions every 30 seconds for an hour, but real ones have started to roll in. Two thoughts:
1. So THIS is what non back labor contractions feel like
2. Chicken broth = the bomb dot com

My midwife will come back to check progress at 3ish. Assuming baby is engaged, she plans to detach the Pit and break my waters.

Baby Alice is outside! Born at 5:43 pm, after a short but intense labor. First: pictures. Then: longer version!

Long Version:
When I arrived at the hospital, I was already 3 cm and 80% effaced (yay, dates!) but baby was still at the 2 station that is above the pelvis (never sure between + or - which is which). She was hesitant to break my water, because of the risk of cord prolapse, so instead we started at a Pit stop of something like 2 ml per hour. Contractions started! They got stronger! We went up to 4 ml per hour to try to get them closer together.

About 4 hours later, my midwife offered to break my water. I was still only 4 cm, but she was sure that my labor would go quickly once it broke. There was So Much Fluid. The midwife made some joke about an olympic sized swimming pool, lol. This was about 3:30. She was right! Immediately the contractions grew so intense I really had to focus to get through them.

After about an hour or forty five minutes we had to turn the Pitocin down...I was having really intemsecontractions every 30 seconds, and finally had the chance to try laughing gas. Guys, it was great! It didn't touch my back pain, and I could still feel the pain, but it made my body relax in spite of it. My only beef is that in order to feel the effects, I essentially had to keep breathing until I was dizzy and my face was numb, lol. Worth it.

Unfortunately I only got to use the gas about five times before my body started pushing....hard. So hard. The pressure was way intense, much more than my last birth! I was still a little loopy for the first two pushes; I couldn't even hold my legs up! But five pushes total and nine minutes later, Alice Hildy made her entrance. She latched right away and nursed something like 30 minutes while I waited for my dinner. (As you can see, I was very excited about my hamburger and potatoes!) Alice was born just in time to call in my order before the kitchen closed.

Now it is time for this tired lady to sleeeeep.
