After a day of random contractions, I woke up suddenly at 11 pm to my water breaking. I called my midwives and they told me to come in because I wasn't feeling baby move since the water broke. We got admitted to L&D triage and they hooked me up to do a NST. Baby is 100% fine but they need to confirm my water broke before they will move me to a labor room. They did several tests and said I did not actually break my water. Considering I had soaked through several pairs of underwear/pants prior to coming in, my gut was telling me they were wrong. Then the OB resident (I REALLY did not like her) tried to tell me "well urinary incontinence is common at this point in pregnancy" Clearly I know what pee smells like! So at 4 am they sent me home. I am frustrated and annoyed, which only gets worse when I get home and keep having gushes of water breaking all morning plus contractions now occurring every 7-10 minutes apart. Thankfully I already had my weekly checkup with my midwife scheduled at 8 am. So I get to my appointment and they easily confirm my water had broken and send me back to go to the hospital to be induced. They started pitocin at 11 am and they opted not to do another cervix check since I was 3 cm dilated when they saw me in triage. By 12 I was already getting an increase in pressure so the nurse checked me and I was at 6 cm. The pitocin was starting to amp up and just when I thought I may cave on going Med free, I had the nurse check me again at 1 pm and I was already at 9 cm! I was literally pushing by 1:30 pm, 2.5 hours after starting pitocin. I pushed for 30 minutes and out she came! I didn't end up with any normal tearing but I did somehow get some tears in my labia. All in all, I'm really happy with how the birth went, besides what we dealt with in the L&D triage. Always trust your gut!
@lfrank12 I also swore my water broke when they told me it hadn't. When the doctor "broke my water", it was same feeling I had before when they blamed it on urine"
I'm sorry you got sent home knowing you were leaking water. Its frustrating that they "test" different things, and dont trust us with our own bodies. It's great that you are happy overall with the birth!! I hope your tearing heals quickly. Congratulations!!
