And the only people around to do it are my dad and stepmom, who honestly are kind of the ones we would most want to keep the secret from. At the very least, we are going to wait a few hours to tell them, especially if it's the middle of the night. @shannonj96 Sorry they are so being so creepy about watching for your to go. I hope you get peace at the hospital.

@kap1988 will your pup be okay alone for a few hours? I know ours is usually good for at least up to 10 hours by himself, then he needs to be let outside to do his business. I'm sorry you're having to deal with this, too...I wouldn't wish it on anyone...if anything it causes unneeded stress on us mom's to be.

@ngcsugirl1112 Yeah, 3 days a week he is alone for about ten hours so that will give us some time. It would be so nice though to just have until after the baby arrives to worry about people. Oh well, I don't mind making the nurses into bouncers lol

I am seriously considring having a very firm, but respectful chat with them. And because my fiance refuses to deal with them, I'm going to exclude him from that conversation. They will respect my privacy if they want any kind of relationship with me and the baby (thank god I'm going back to my family's home after the birth rather than living with the in laws). Honestly, I don't want any visitors for a couple of weeks after the birth. In most circumstances people wouldn't bat an eye at grandparents not seeing the baby immediately, but they live in the next town over from me and are entitled douches. And even if I wanted visitors, I'd rather see my dad, my best friend, and my brother. You know, people I actually feel close to.

Fortunately my fiance is on board with them not being around during the labor, birth, and for at least 24 hours afterwards. If he wanted them there, that would just make things much more troublesome.

I'm not sure where to put this so I'm just going to bitch about it here. I went in for my 36+5 appointment yesterday and the OB did an "estimated fetal size" ultrasound but she wasn't able to get all the measurements she needed because I started to pass out from laying on my back. Well as she was taking the measurements I noticed she had a lot of surprised expressions on her face and asked her what she was seeing, to which she responded that the baby was measuring ahead of schedule and she wanted to send me to Maternal Fetal Medicine for a better ultrasound. Now I know that her equipment isn't great and MFM has much better technology and this is only an estimate...but I'm kind of freaking out!!! When she left the room to write up the order I turned the screen towards me and looked at what she had entered so far and baby's head is measuring at 41+4! One of the other measurements was 40+6 and the third was 37+2. Has anyone else had their baby's head measure 4 weeks ahead?! That seems really big and I'm getting very concerned about my lady bits!

Er...that seems crazy big. I would be more worried about GD or something than my lady bits.

If it makes you feel better, I have thoroughly enjoyed my one and only visit to a mfm doctor. Everyone was so gentle and calm and such great listeners. The ultrasound seriously took over an hour, but the chair was reclining, not flat, so it was comfy.

ETA Also the measurements taken at the mfm were something like a week and a half different from those taken by the sonographer at my regular practice.

Just need to vent: I am a new employee to my school district this year since I was unexpectedly laid off last summer (you know.. a week after I found out I was pregnant).

So.... that means I'm not covered by FMLA and that my district also prorates sick days, so I have 7 sick days (instead of the 11/12 that I would have earned) and I am basically taking this entire time unpaid and was informed today that I would also lose health insurance after the 7 days expire. Thankfully, we can go onto my husband's plan but his is double what mine costs. They also are being shady and saying that even if I came back at the end of the school year that I can't re-enroll? How is that possible?

Ultimately.. I know that it's important for me to be home with my baby and it's time I will never get back and you can't put money on it. Buttttttttttttttt having to budget for about $10,000+ to take everything unpaid is just ridiculous.

@SienaC honestly if it's possible I'd try not to worry about it until you see the mfm. They will be able to tell you if it's something or nothing.

So I've developed a terrible cough over the last couple of days I'm due Friday and I really want to get this baby out, but now I'm really hoping she stays in long enough for me to get over being sick. I'm all freaked out about having to give birth while hacking and coughing. Has anyone been sick during labor? It never even occurred to me that it could happen.

@SienaC I know it's easier said than done, but try not to stress about it. Ultrasound measurements are notoriously inaccurate this late in pregnancy. Hopefully the MFM can get a second set of measurements and put your mind at ease with some options.

Last weekend we had some people over, and friend brought her two kids (age 5 & 7). They've been here before, so no big deal. However, I caught her 7 year old daughter in the nursery playing around with a mobile of hanging airplanes we bought and got it all tangled. I just sat down finally and untangled it, and noticed One of the planes is broken. I'm super irritated because we bought it at the Christmas markets in Vienna and it hasn't even been hung yet! So now, I'm sitting here pissed off and fuming at 7 year old who in no way intended to break it... because logical pregnancy brain. Also, the broken piece is missing and I'm pretty sure she threw it away to try to hide what she did :-/

Our doctor told us sex can help soften the cervix, and we've had it 3 times in the past week, and yet he's still blaming me for not "being interested" in it...ummm hello...it's not exactly pleasurable for me, and while I want to try and help my body out, sometimes I'm too damn tired to want to have sex....ugh

Ok so yesterday was my due date. I was having really strong contractions that were 5 minutes apart, so I had my fiance take me into L&D. First, he tried to ask me to wait a few more hours before calling them because he was going to be off work then (there's 2 other guys there by the way, so no big deal for him to leave early). When I told him I'd already called and that they wanted me to come in, he had to wait for his boss to take his lunch break first (my fiance never gets to take a lunch break, so that was majorly rude of his boss to do that).

Well, when we got there, they confirmed that I was in fact having contractions and they checked my cervix. I was dilated to 2.5-3 cm and about 50% effaced. That is slightly more dilated than I had been at my appointment on Monday. The baby had also moved lower. They had me walk around for 45 minutes and then checked me again. No change in my cervix, but the contractions were lasting longer and were a lot more painful.

The baby's heart rate dropped a bit after they had me lay flat on my back, so I then got to take another half hour walk around the ward. Afterwards, they put me back on the monitor and obviously the baby was fine.

This entire time, my fiance was playing with his phone (mostly watching youtube videos which was extremely annoying), complaining about his back hurting, complaining about being tired, and complaining about being hungry. I've learned that he gets like this when he's nervous, but seriously grow a pair, dude. Obviously I was tired, hungry, and in a good deal of pain.

And to top it off, they decided that I'm probably in early labor, so they said to go home and rest and come back when my contractions are more like 2 minutes apart (sounds like I'll be cutting it pretty close at that point). I had to deal with my whiney fiance, being in a good bit of pain, and then got to go home from the hospital without a baby yet again.

@ShannonJ96 That sounds miserable! I'm so sorry you had to deal with it! There would have been an awful lot of yelling on my end of I was at the hospital IN LABOR and my DH was complaining about...well, literally anything!

ETA- FX that things progress quickly for you and you get to hold your baby in your arms soon!!!

My husband's aunt Facebook messaged measy night saying she was concerned about me because my "eyes look tired". Asked if I was getting enough sleep. Lady, I have a new baby, who's been in a special care nursery, a preschooler at home, and just had major abdominal surgery. Soooooo.
(I appreciate her concern but.)

Today is the closing day on our house and here I am losing my patience that they will only be out at 9pm at night. We've had the keys since 1:30 but all their stuff is still there!!! Just found out they will not be out until 9pm. My kid goes to bed at 8 so there goes my plan of cleaning and prepping before loading the moving truck first thing in the morning. I don't know what the norm is but I was told we would be able to go today to do what we have to do once we got our keys! We went and no one was there for 2 hours but all their stuff was still there. (We live in a small city so their new house is no more than 15 minutes of driving if that) I've been getting sporadic contractions since yesterday so I'm kind of losing my shit because I'm on a time limit and really really relied on today to get crap done.

I've had 3 people on standby from out of town waiting since 3pm to help. It's now 7.

This entire day is making me a raging pregnant lady and everyone is annoyed that I'm so annoyed but I can't help it!

@Burrberrymum that's complete BS! When we sold our house we had to have it empty and turn over all keys, garage openers etc at the closing. The minute we signed the papers it wasn't ours anymore so everything had to be out. That's crazy that their crap is still there and that they still have access. So sorry you're dealing with that.

I ended up showing up at 9pm to start cleaning and they still weren't done! They took doors off and didn't even put them back on either. I made a little bed on the floor with a sleeping bag but my poor little one couldn't sleep because she was so excited about a big new house and she finally got some sleep at 2am when we got back to our apartment. I was not thrilled one bit, what should have been a whole day devoted to cleaning / ripping wallpaper off turned into a rushed 3 hours of barely getting anything done. They still have stuff in the garage that they have to come and get tomorrow. I'm trying to have as much patience as I can. So. Much. Cleaning still needs to be done by tomorrow so I'll be up with the sun to finish what should have been done today. Thanks for letting me vent that out!!! What a frustrating day.

@Burrberrymum That is ridiculous. I've never heard of people still being in a house once the new owner has the keys. I'm sorry! I think I might fly into a pregnant rage and drag all their crap to the curb so I could move on with my life. Normally, I'd be a little more understanding, but you are nine months pregnant! And you know if they still aren't out completely, they will have done zero cleaning.

Wow, @Burrberrymum... so sorry you are dealing with all of that! I've never heard of previous owners still having stuff in the house after papers have been signed and keys handed over! I think if it were me their crap would be out on the curb.
