Labor buddy reporting in! @peachesnbean just checked in and is at 7cm, will update as details are available but obviously will leave the juicy stuff for her to spill. Stay tuned
***Update*** Baby bean is here! Born at 10:07 and 9lbs 2oz! Both mom and baby are doing great!
Who wants a birth story? I got one ! Yesterday I skipped out on work, no good reason. I just *couldn't even*. I painted a picture for Heidi, did some house work and then get some contractions. Walked around the neighborhood and they were a decent strength but not increasing in anyway. After I picked DD1 up from the bus stop I was exhausted. I took a shower and the contractions stopped. H came home from work with DD2 and I took a nap. I woke up around 6:30 and texted H, who was at DD1's ballet class that (1) I wanted a giant bowl lucky charms to eat in bed for dinner and (2) I wasn't going to leave my room except to pee until my "stupid induction". I had given up all hope of this baby coming on her own! Around 7:30 one of my friends stopped by and she sat on the edge of my bed to just chat. During that conversation I felt a ton of cervical pressure. Not contractions, just pressure. I went pee figuring it was just a combo of a full bladder and positioning and then when I got back to bed it was on. I was laying on my side writhing around, not believing it was the real deal. I had flashbacks to that happening when labor started with DD2. I had so much prodromal labor that when it actually came it was hard to believe. After 3 good contractions I decided to go in. Reminder: My mw's advised me not to mess around getting to the hospital because of my past speedy deliveries and my super squishy cervix. I got to the hospital and was a 7. I got in the tub-sweet Jesus thank you for tubs and before I knew it my MW said I had a tiny lip of cervix that she felt super comfortable with me pushing against , because squishy lol. I was still hesitant to push full on so I did little grunty pushes until it was gone maybe 5 or 6 with some massages? The first contraction that I was full was incredibly intense and before I knew it- Heidi was head out. Just like that. And that was when my water broke and we saw the meconium. Policy here is meconium = no water birth, but my body took over and I was ready to be done. Meanwhile my mind is trying to be reasonable and follow policies with a practice I trust whole heartedly. It was so weird to experience, I almost felt like 2 different people. My head was like- listen to your midwife but my body was like- screw it let's get this over with. So I pushed and waited for the sweet relief of that slither out feeling after the shoulders go, except it didn't come and I was incredibly confused. My MW told me to stand up immediately and it was time to get out of the tub for real now. I was trying, again, but my body was pushing and my midwife was telling me to push more than I possibly could. I did it like 3 times, kept waiting for the relief but it didn't come. In retrospect I think I knew she was shouldering but my brain wasn't functioning that way it wasn't connecting dots. I felt my midwife's hands inside me, both of them, and then bent and growled and pushed with every fiber of my being and omg she was out! They cut the cord right away and my MW explained she had a shoulder dystocia but it was actually pretty minor (charted at 45 seconds). They wanted to get me to the bed but all I could do was stand in the tub and shake and apologize to everyone with the umbilical cord feeling very strange between my legs. I kept asking for another minute. Finally got in the bed and everything looked great. I really lucked out. Didn't need pit for bleeding (did with my other two) I didn't tear (I was seriously expecting a 4th degree tear with the memory of her hands inside me) and Heidi was perfect. Her shoulder doesn't indicate any need for X-ray, she didn't aspirate meconium, and she is a good but not crazy sized 9lb2oz! Although she beat DD2 with gestational she, DD2 is my biggest at 9lb5oz! Total labor time (counting from when I peed and felt that first for realsies contraction) was 2.5 hours. She does have the facial bruising since I pushed her out so darn quickly and my pelvis hurts like bruisy but I really can't complain. We are both doing awesome. My girls already came to visit us and I am so happy that my family is complete. We also have some cool number things in our family now. We were all born on an even numbered day. DD1 and DD2 are the 30th and 8th and 30-8=22 of 22+8= 30 lol and she was born on 2-22-17 at 22:07 2 will be her lucky number I guess !
