STM+ chit chat

Re: STM+ chit chat

  • @SugarRush the struggle is real!! It really is frustrating.. and my doctor actually told me to try to cut back on juice because of the sugar... but when that's my only option, I'm going to drink it anyway! It beats being dehydrated. Hopefully this will get better soon for both of us!

  • @CoastalMomma - We plan to have our kids share a room too. We have 3 bedrooms, but all our family lives out of town, so we really need a guest room so our family can come visit (and babysit!)
@tiki8286 that's a good tip! We go out of town to visit family often, so this will probably come in handy when it's time to transition! Thanks :)
@GracefulStar It's good to hear a success story with that age gap! My two will be 18.5 months apart. Any tips for transitioning the first born to a toddler bed?
  • How far along are you? I will be 11 weeks tomorrow.
Are you using same OB as your first delivery?
I am since I had a good experience with them the first time.
What do you hope to be different about this delivery, if anything?
I went into the hospital the evening before I was to be induced. They gave me Ambien so I would get plenty of rest before the induction. I went into labor a few hours after taking the Ambien. Labor was a blur (maybe that is a good thing?) and I don't remember a lot of details... I hope to be more with it this time around!
Something that you miss that you enjoy pre-pregnancy?
Nothing really, maybe having a drink or two when I'm out.
Show me a pic of your previous baby/babies nursery
I don't have one on this phone, but it is neutral since we were team green. Greige, Grey, white, and light blue. I love how it turned out.

I had a really tough time being away from my first. I do not like being separated from her and miss her so much when we are. I'm wondering how different that will be second time around?
  • @sparksfly that's what hotels are for ;) I refuse to inconvience my family for out of town family. That may be an UO. Lol

@jessieR358 DH and I are both close to our families - so we love having them visit. My parents try to visit once a month or so ... and I would rather keep a guest room for them than have to make the 3+ hour drive with kid(s)! In that sense, it's a huge convenience for us since we don't have to travel :)

    Edit for typos.

Lol I meant they come and stay in a hotel! Not the other way around. I'm all for as little traveling as possible with kids! My parents live a mile from me so it's just the inlaws that come and visit us.
  • @daniellelynette my sister didn't have the owlet but the one that clipped to the diaper (twins were preemies and one was in the nicu for 10 days for breathing issues). Anyway she loved it. Had some false alarms but it was still worth it for her.
I want to buy a nice stroller this time around. I got a cheaper lightweight stroller($100ish chicco one) and it did the job but was annoying at times. Hoping to get a city mini or britax this time.

Are you using same OB as your first delivery? Sadly no. I had DD in Los Angeles and this LO will be born in Houston, TX. Loved my old OB...had her for almost 20yrs.

What do you hope to be different about this delivery, if anything? I hope not to faint in recovery after birth...epidural made me woozy. But I hope the birth itself is just as smooth!

Something that you miss that you enjoy pre-pregnancy. WINE.

Show me a pic of your previous baby/babies nursery...gotta look on my laptop!

  • @sparksfly As far as transitioning to a toddler bed, don't spring it on your kid, my friend did that and it was a disaster. If you can set it up so they see it in the room and can test it out,  get some cool sheets they would like. I told my son this new bed was for him and that his brother would use the crib and they'd be roommates. He was nervous at first, and he rolled off a lot so I had comfy padding/ mat below but he never asked for the crib again. But he was also pretty good about bedtime (probably because he never napped lol). My second son isn't climbing out of his crib but I just know he'd be that kid that would get out every two seconds. So I'm holding off but number three is coming soon. Don't wait until it's absolutely dire that they go into the bed as you need their crib as they will feel rushed. Plus I gave him a spot in the room where he could see the hall and me running around. Lastly just remember in the morning he may be coming to greet you or walk around so make sure he won't get into danger. My first would call me and not leave the room but everyone is different. Good luck!
  • @souptin she's actually the smaller of the two we have lol...our larger one is 25lbs!

Are you using same OB as your first delivery?
Yes, same from my other two and same hospital.

What do you hope to be different about this delivery, if anything?
I am choosing to forego induction. Last two times I went past DD and I asked for it. This time I want to just let it happen. I feel like it'll help me in not needing so much monitoring and being able to move around and experience labor from outside the bed.

Being able to take stronger medication for migraines and allergies. I may as well be faking sugar pills now.

This is a pic from my first baby, my son's nursery area. We lived in a one bedroom apartment until he was about 4 months old then we moved to our house. This is his half of our bedroom from the apartment. I loved it!

This is my second baby, my daughter's room before she was born. We've added curtains and some other wall decor, but the space is the same still.

    Random thoughts/questions
I find myself forgetting about being pregnant this go around. Also, it seems to be flying by. I hope to prove people wrong about taking less photos and focusing less on the third baby. Im probably most excited to have a newborn to wear. I started babywearing with my daughter when she was around a month old, and it has definitely enriched and benefited me as a mom and us as a family. Im excited to bond even more with baby #3 by babywearing from birth. I'm really wanting another boy, and we have one boy name from last time and haven't even talked about girl names. We would love another girl too, so won't be disappointed either way, but I'm totally feeling team blue over here.

Are you using same OB as your first delivery? No...we moved from MN to CT when DD was 4 months old. New OBGYN, I was with a group of nurse midwives last time and loved them :(
What do you hope to be different about this delivery, if anything? Nothing! Everything went just as planned last time; I had an epidural, minimal tearing, baby and mama healthy.
Something that you miss that you enjoy pre-pregnancy? Wine. And I'm disappointed that I won't be able to take my daughter on rides this summer...we went on a few toddler ones indoors this winter and she loved them!
