@CanadianintheSouth good luck! i wish i could air mail you some of my extra!

even though i'm past 37 weeks i have managed to avoid "weekly" appointments lol. i mean i have 2 NSTs a week so there's that but my OB appointments and ultrasounds have been spread out from 10-14 days. i guess they figure with the added check ups i can get away with it. not complaining!
• @CoconutKisses21 Good luck! I had to be induced for my son ( developed pre-e) very suddenly and it was so frightening, but everything went extremely smoothly. Hopefully even if the "worst" case scenario happens and you are induced, your body already getting ready will make the whole process smoother. <3

Had my 36 week appt today and GBS swab. Nothing out of the ordinary, lol. Bp still great, but I'm.nervous because now that I am 4 weeks from dday I have to stop taking my daily baby aspirin. I'm nervous my bp will start to climb. Fx it doesnt!

• @CoconutKisses21 vent away mama! It's scary and unknown-but you can trust your docs are gonna do what's best for baby AND for you! They're just making sure you both are in tip top shape to love on eahother in the coming weeks. Don't feel guilty at all--you're so close to full term and you've done a great job growing your little one!
I was also induced at 37wks with hypertension moving toward pre-E. It was a whirlwind (when you are mentally planning/counting down to 40wks)) but we had a great experience! Sounds like your body is already doing a great job prepping for delivery so IF you do need to tread down that road it will go even smoother!

You got this!
• @Gators&BoSox send it on over! I wish there was something I could do, but drinking all the water does nothing

@kjd291 I think your baby just wants to be a March babe ;)

@CoconutKisses21 I know how you feel! And it's hard to relax after you've gotten that high reading already. Good luck and hope the bp stays down!

• @Coconutkisses21 This is just the place to get it all off your chest! Thanks for sharing with us and I completely get the "I know it's not my fault but I feel guilty..." sensation about BP. I was dealing with the same thing myself. I think we can be really hard on ourselves as women, because there is a lot of talk about how our bodies are designed to do this whole child-bearing thing, which they are! But then when there are complications, even when you KNOW they are things that can't be helped, you start to worry that you did something wrong, because why would a body designed to do something not do it right? It's a struggle, and you're not alone in dealing with it, so please never hesitate to come and lay it all out here if you're struggling! Here's hoping and praying that everything will be okay for you!

We had our weekly appointment today - we are at week 35 and our little fella is already over 7lbs, nice and big in the 80th percentile. They'd kind of forgotten to do a test for GD till last week but everything came back fine for that, and my thyroid and BP are all at perfect levels, so yay! Downside: he is still breech, and with my fluid levels, they can't try and turn him, so at this point, he will either do it himself, or else I will have to have a C-section. On top of that, my OB told me that he could come at any time, even though our EDD is not till March 24th. A little scary - definitely thought we'd have some more time, but now there's this wide open window! She told us that if my water breaks or if I even THINK I might be in labor, to hurry to L&D and let them know I'm breech so they can get him out right away, no waiting till contractions get stronger or closer together or anything. Luckily we bought the crib this weekend, so we just need to put it together, and going to get a car seat tomorrow or Wednesday so that we're ready. It's a little scary just having that time shortened from having five weeks to it possibly happening right now! But I'm also excited, and the baby is healthy and the doctor doesn't foresee any complications for him if he does come early, so that is good!

• My appointment was super uneventful, other than barely getting any urine in the cup bc I can't see where I'm aiming with my big belly in the way. Luckily they only need a dribble.

BP and HR and Bump measuring normal. My doctor never gives me the numbers so I'm not sure what all that means. I'm happy everything's normal but I wish I could get a scan to see the little guy again. My 20 week scan seems so long ago now.

I have my appointment on Thursday @ 36 weeks which is also doubling as a f/u to my hospital stay yesterday. I had contractions Saturday night, all day Sunday, and they were still going strong yesterday morning (when I also started having some spotty vision issues) so off to the hospital we went. 6 hours later I went home with a 24 hr urine collection order, and they have put me out of work until at least Thursday when I have my appointment. They did GBS yesterday while I was there, just to check it off the list, and I got a steroid shot just in case this little guy decides to bust out early.

At my appointment Thursday, my OB is going to check me again to see what my cervix is doing, then we are going to decide when to deliver. He is worried that my BP will spike quickly like it did last time, since the vision problems have started, so there is a chance I will be induced next week, although he and my OB nurse both said that they don't see me making it that far. In the time I was at the hospital I went from no dilation to 2 cm, and was having contractions every 5-7 minutes for quite most of the time I was there. By the time I left they had slowed down and became more erratic, so we will see what I do today!
• Wow @catybug820 I'm glad they're keeping a close eye on you.. how exciting that you get to meet your babe sooner than later

just hanging out at my NST but learned an interesting tidbit about the fetal heart rate monitor ... the contractions that show up on the screen don't show strength. It all depends on the tightness of the belt and how the monitor feels like picking it up. That's why some women have high spiking contractions and can't feel them and others have smaller ones and are definitely aware or their presence.
• @catybug820 Hope the vision issues and contractions take a break till Thursday when you and your doc can make a game plan. Prayers!

@Gators&BoSox thanks for sharing the info! I'd always wondered exactly what it was measuring.
• @kjd291 and @Gators&BoSox thanks! The bonus to living in a tiny town with a small hospital is they are super attentive and I know all the staff really well. I was my OB's son's preschool teacher and I know several of the nurses outside of the hospital, so I have been pretty well catered to. Lol.
• Had my 38 week appointment. I'm only a fingertip dilated and while I'm starting to thin out, it's not much. Dr said that baby is measuring at 43 weeks and he thinks I'm going to go past my due date since I'm not more dilated by now and baby is not engaged in my pelvis. Next week we have a growth scan.

Had my 38 week appointment today, everything is on track- fundal height good, bp and baby's heart rate fine. I refused a cervical check because I got checked last week and I wasn't dilated at all and don't feel much change this week so why bother. OB actually suggested a membrane sweep next week if I wanted...isn't it a little soon for that? I'm not even overdue yet. I don't think I'm going to, just wanted to see what other's thoughts were?
• @Spartanrd4 Totally my personal opinion: but I think OBs are so quick to try and force labor early for no good reason. If you're healthy and you and baby are both doing well - I see no reason for a membrain sweep till if you go past due dates. I think sweeps early just cause both unnecessary risk of infection and cramping and discomfort that ultimately doesn't end in labor.
• That's what I thought @kjd291!! I talked to my mom about it who was an OB nurse and she agreed that I should wait. I had a friend who did it at 41 weeks and she said it was horrible...but it did make her water break. But again she was overdue which is a different story!
• @Spartanrd4 Glad you have your mama as an OB nurse to run things by! That's so nice :]

How can measuring 43 weeks even be a thing?

• So, I have an appt with a MFM doctor Thursday morning. Apparently I was supposed to do this forever ago, like 28 weeks, but no one ever told me to! It is solely because I developed pre-e in my first pregnancy; so far in this pregnancy everything has been healthy. Any idea what I should expect?

Not sure, but that is what he said. I didn't know it was a possibility either. He did say that it could be measuring extra big because baby is still floating and not engaged in the pelvis. But it's a bit nerve wracking! I'm anxious to see how much he weighs next week.
ETA: He said that after measuring my fundal height, not after an ultrasound or anything.

I was measuring 42wks three weeks ago (which is why I got an extra growth scan. Baby must have just been positioned weird because the following week I measured back at 40. Fundal height is not precise and is just a sorta kinda way to track growth so you don't have to get too many US - so don't worry!!
• Had my 36 week appointment today. Topic of discussion: Every single possible thing that could go wrong and interventions. So that was pleasant. BP is still on the higher side of normal so she wants me in for a quick ultrasound in the next week or so to make sure baby is happy and growing fine. When she felt baby from my belly she looked at me and said this is not going to be a little peanut baby. (My DD was 6lbs) So there's that. But good news, baby is still head down! :) Did my GBS swab and just waiting on the results. Productive appointment today.

• Had an apt today at 38w 5d. I finally had her check me and I'm 1cm dilated, 50% effaced, and she's still pretty high. Don't think I'll be meeting her anytime soon.

NST today at 36+3. BP was still high but more acceptable at 140/78 mmHg and baby girl did great for her NST. So she gets to keep cooking and I get to take my childbirthing class on Saturday! **happy dance**

Edited to add I got my GBS swab results and it was negative!
• 2nd appointment this week was today... BP was still technically "high", but more acceptable at 142/88. LO was so active in her NST that they shut it off after 6 minutes because it was obviously reactive - doc said it had been awhile since he had seen so much activity outside. It felt so great to finally have a positive appointment!

On the downside, I tested positive for GBS so no IV-free birth for me :(. Also, doc said that if I was still pregnant by Monday, March 6th (AKA 10 DAYS FROM NOW - AH!!), they were scheduling an induction for later that week - slightly terrifying because I feel like my due date just got pushed up and I am SO not ready.
• @JustAnotherUsername16 I do think that the IV can be intermittent so you don't need to be hooked up to one at all times but in intervals to receive the antibiotic. Glad your BP was looking a little better... that's a positive. :)
For this child I prayed, and the Lord has granted me my petition that I made to him.

• @longliveregina I don't even know what that is, but my next appointment is on Monday so I will be sure to ask about it! Thanks! Also, glad you had a positive MFM experience even if it was a bit of a waste of work time. You deserve some time to kick your feet up and relax - even if it is at the doctor's office haha.

I totally zoned out....I may have fallen asleep at some point because I remember looking at the clock and being shocked that 20 minutes went by in a flash.

A heplock (part of that is an abbreviation or acronym, so maybe it's really HEPlock or something) is like a port for your if that they insert in your arm, but can attach and detach the iv line from. Most hospitals want this anyway just in case: it you become dehydrated or something it can be hard to get the iv in.
