Are you using same OB as your first delivery? No, I switched practices all together because of a move.
What do you hope to be different about this delivery, if anything? I had a lot of bleeding after delivery last time and would obviously like to avoid that.

How far along are you?   11+5
Are you using same OB as your first delivery?  Nope, we live an hr away from Baltimore now.
What do you hope to be different about this delivery, if anything?  I want an epidural, and to have a less intense labor experience.  DS was born less than 2 hours after we got to the hospital, partly because his heart rate dropped to the point that I either needed to push, or have a C-section.  I was fine in the moment, but it took me a long time afterwards to accept how it all went down, and to even want to think about having another baby.  My midwife, doctors and nurses were all amazing, it was just scary once I had time to really think about what happened.
Something that you miss that you enjoy pre-pregnancy  Between food aversions and just general lack of appetite, not a whole lot right now.  I don't generally follow a lot of the 'no-nos', with the exception of alcohol, so I don't feel overly deprived at the moment.
Show me a pic of your previous baby/babies nursery.  We didn't have an extra bedroom, so DS' first nursery was in our bedroom.  I don't think I have any pics of the one in our new place right now.  ETA- See attached, it was WAY too big when I tried to put it in the post.
Random thoughts/questions.  Nothing right now, mostly just pondering when my nausea will go away completely.  It's so much better than it was at this point last time, but I'm greedy, and don't want it at all!

Are you using same OB as your first delivery? New practice.  Hopefully I have a good experience.

What do you hope to be different about this delivery, if anything?  More and more people tell me that a planed c-section this time will be less difficult on my body.  So I'm holding on to this thought!

Something that you miss that you enjoy pre-pregnancy  I want wine.  And margaritas.  And to just pick up what I want to eat instead of thinking "is that going to give me heartburn?"

Show me a pic of your previous baby/babies nursery  I'll have to go back and find some. :)

Random thoughts/questions  I actually have some questions for you STMs.  Did anyone experience intense hot flashes and cold sweats after giving birth?  For about 3-4 weeks postpartum I experienced this and had no idea that this was a symptom of postpartum.  If you did experience this, did you do anything to help alleviate the symptoms?

Are you using same OB as your first delivery? Nope they suck
What do you hope to be different about this delivery, if anything? No pitocin! They make contractions 10xs worse
Something that you miss that you enjoy pre-pregnancy being able to have a drink every now and then
Show me a pic of your previous baby/babies nursery I'll post one under this comment

Random thoughts/questions they say your second pregnancy goes faster.. lies I feel like it is taking forever
  • This is the only good picture I could find. We are in the process of redoing his room
  • @ColoradoHiker we might be the same person, your story and mine have a lot of similarities.

How far along are you?  not quite 9 weeks

Are you using same OB as your first delivery? No, moved cities. I just got accepted by a midwife clinic who I need to meet with still.

What do you hope to be different about this delivery, if anything? Everything. I want everything to be different. I was in pitocn induced labour for over 30 hours ( after an induction and manual water break) eventually I started swelling and DS was not progressing anywhere. I had a Csection as a last resort. It took me months to come to terms with his birth. This time, I want to let my body do its own thing on its own time. I am totally cool with epi's  and plan to have one this time but I do not want another section if I can avoid it.

Something that you miss that you enjoy pre-pregnancy: I don't buy into most of the "avoid list" (outside of alcohol) so I am not missing much. but I also have a LONG list of food aversions again so really, I just want to be able to eat.  I guess if anything, I miss being able to take cold meds or other drugs ( for sleeping, muscle pains ect)

Show me a pic of your previous baby/babies nursery My son didn't really get a nursery, we moved into our home when he was 10ish days old. I was not up to painting/decorating so I mostly left the room the way it was ( a little boy previously had the room so it "worked" well enough)

Random thoughts/questions also wondering when the nausea will go away. This all day car sickness feeling is getting really freaking old.

Are you using same OB as your first delivery? No, changed practices.
What do you hope to be different about this delivery, if anything? Shorter. Was in labor for about 17 hrs last time, of course looking back didn't seem so bad but at the time it sucked.
Something that you miss that you enjoy pre-pregnancy. This pregnancy was a complete surprise as I was nursing my 18 month old and on mini pill. We had just purchased annual Disney passes. Was really looking forward to riding the Space and Splash mountains. I'll just ride the rides with my boy until September!

Random thoughts/questions Anyone else feeling anxious about second baby. My son is my favorite little boy ever (there was a point I contemplated not having any more) and since this was so unexpected and not planned I am worried how things will be and how he will feel. I don't want to miss out on time with him or for him to feel like he is being replaced. He will be 2 and 2 months when this one arrives.

Nope! Living in a new city :)

What do you hope to be different about this delivery, if anything?

I'd like to attempt to go without the epidural. I have scoliosis and I am afraid of having issues with it. I was completely fine during my first pregnancy and I'm not above it if I need it.

Something that you miss that you enjoy pre-pregnancy

    Alcohol. :P I miss alcohol.

I never really had a nursery for DD. We were roomies and her crib was close to my bed.

    Questions?

Anyone starting to look pregnant yet? I'm definitely starting to fill out

Yes, same OB and same hospital

What do you hope to be different about this delivery, if anything?
I would love to not be induced this time. It really wasn't a bad experience but I just want to be able to experience the full labor experience. Honestly as long as we have a healthy baby I don't care!

Something that you miss that you enjoy pre-pregnancy
Sex! I'm on pelvic rest until the end of first tri due to an SCH.

This was her bedding and crib, my maiden name is Lamb so we did a lamb themed nursery. She was before the time of iPhone panorama shots lol so I don't have a picture of the whole nursery in one pic lol!

    Random thoughts/questions
I would love to have a boy this time around but I know it'd be nice and save money to be able to reuse things since seasons won't be too far off if we had another girl. I'd still probably do a different themed nursery this time around no matter what!

Oh god so many hot flashes and sweating. I would literally soak the bed. This happened with both my kids. The 2nd time around i was proactive and either put a waterproof sheet under my side of the bedsheets or put a towel underneath me when I slept. I also lost a lot of weight bc of that sweating - I figured out that all the bloat that I held onto my entire pregnancy was coming out after delivery. I asked tons of mom friends over the years and yep - totally common! In fact it was more uncommon to hear of a mom who didn't experience either hot flashes or cold sweats.
  • @CSL522 I felt the same way with my son. He was 2 years and 13 days when my daughter was born. Since babies mostly sleep in the beginning it was nice to still be able to give my son lots of attention.  He went thru terrible twos and horrible  threes but had nothing to do having a sibling because my DD did/is doing the same thing lol. The bond that these two have now is just the greatest thing in the world. It makes my heart melt to hear them play and care for each other.
  • @SugarRush SO MUCH NIGHT SWEATS! it happened for a few weeks at least- it was so intense too. I started keeping an extra tank top bedside to change into. I was not expecting it. That and the sharp pain of my uterus contracting back to shape while breastfeeding. those two things totally caught me by surprise postpartum.

  • @tiki8286 @Souptin  Thank you!!!  Like, I had no idea it was even a thing, and everyone I asked about it was like sorry, I didn't experience that.  I was like this is so bizarre!  One minute I would be incredibly hot and sweating like crazy, flipping off the blankets and all and the next minute I would be freezing my butt off but I would still be sweating.  I imagine its a lot what going through menopause would be like!

Are you using same OB as your first delivery? No :'( We move from CO to CA and while we found an okay Midwifery center, I don't like it anywhere near as much as our last one.

What do you hope to be different about this delivery, if anything? Not needing a transfer would be great. I never felt like I had early labor, it went from mild to difficult within hours. Starting at 10pm didn't help. Neither did throwing up. Neither did being stressed about being gbs+.

Something that you miss that you enjoy pre-pregnancy? Hard ciders.

Show me a pic of your previous baby/babies nursery. I had plans but he is still in our room so it didn't happen in either house.
  • How far along are you? 8 + 5

Are you using same OB as your first delivery? No, unfortunately.  It's a long story, but basically the office split, leaving my favorite OB (she delivered both of my kids) and one I hated, and two I liked who opened an office with a third doc who gets amazing reviews.  I didn't want to risk being delivered by the doc I hated (or one I didn't know at all), so I switched offices.

What do you hope to be different about this delivery, if anything?  Both of my previous deliveries were inductions as I was overdue by a week with both.  Although I love the induction experience (control freak here), I would really prefer not to go over this time.

Something that you miss that you enjoy pre-pregnancy: Just feeling normal.  I hate being tired all the time and RLP waking me in the middle of the night. (I don't drink alcohol or coffee, so not too much is off the table for me food-wise).

Show me a pic of your previous baby/babies nursery: It was so plain...we moved into that house two months before I was due.  We painted the walls a pretty blue, and put up some white vinyl beadboard.  It was simple but I liked it.

Random thoughts/questions: I hardly ever remembered I was pregnant the second time around, but this time I seem to be acutely aware all of the time.  It's very strange.  I nearly slip and tell people I'm pregnant like five times a day.

Are you using the same OB?
No our old one is completely out of the way for both of us.

What do I hope to be different this delivery?
Last one we had a planned C-section which went smooth. However my son had some fluid built up in him and had to spend the first day in the NICU. So this time I hope I don't have to wait a day to hold my baby.

    Something I miss pre-pregnancy?
Wine! And sushi. And medium cooked steaks lol.

I do not have a pic on my phone. My DS is now 7. However it was done in Classic Winnie the Pooh with light greens and whites. I can't wait to decorate and buy things for a new one!
  • @cchenal07 YAAAASSS to the steaks!!!  I had a well-done steak a couple weekends ago... had one bite and passed it to my husband.  I miss my medium-rare!!!

Are you using same OB as your first delivery?
Same practice but a different Dr. My midwife left and I ended up delivering with the OB I was not a fan of. This time I'm with a great OB in the practice and they make every effort to deliver their own patients so I'm hoping it all works out in the end.

What do you hope to be different about this delivery, if anything?
Just to get my own Dr this time. I was induced and GBS+ but the experience with the nurses and laboring was great. The Dr sucked but everything else's was great.

We moved around 30 weeks so we just painted the room a pretty baby boy blue with rich-stained wood furniture and wall stickers.

    Random thoughts/questions
I definitely had hot flashes for 2 weeks after delivery and the only reason I knew about them was because I was due at the end of the month and women on my BMB told me to expect them lol

Whats your plan for childcare while you're in labor/recovering?
  • @ColoradoHiker I couldn't agree more with you in terms of people saying to just be thankful- I was and am. but I am entitled to feel the way I did too. I waited a bit longer for a better chance at a vbac they say 18 months + between kids gives you better odds and my son was 21 months when I got my BFP. finger crossed we both have a better experience this time.

  • How far along are you? 9 weeks, 6 days

Are you using the same OB with this delivery? No, unfortunately. I loved the OB that I had last time, but she left the practice shortly after I delivered my son. At this point I'm not certain who my OB will be. I have only seen the OB once for my transvaginal ultrasound, but I don't think my preference would be to go back to that doctor.

What do you hope will be different about this delivering, if anything?
I am hoping that I will be more mentally and emotionally prepared to push. I had a med free labor with my first son, and I was able to get through contractions like a champ, but when it came to pushing I panicked. I'm trying not to worry about that just yet.

Something I miss pre-pregnancy: I was just starting to get back in the swing of going to Zumba for my January resolution when I found out I was pregnant. Now, I have no energy for much exercise other than yoga and walking. Also that glass of red wine at the end of the day.

I don't have any good pictures of my son's nursery. But, we had a nautical theme as we live by the ocean , and  I  painted several pictures for his room. This poor little one will not have his or her own room. We are in a two bedroom apartment, so baby will likely sleep in our bedroom and then transition into his or her big brother's room. We were really hoping to be in a house by now, but that has not worked out. Any other second time moms who have suggestions  for infants and toddlers sharing a bedroom?
  • @CoastalMomma we moved our DD into DS room when she turned a year old. We happened to go on a weekend trip as a family so we all shared a room (had her in a pack n play). The very same day that we came back home, we moved DDs crib into DS room. Since they had just spent time sleeping in the same room, this seemed cool with them. I can't imagine doing it just on a random day after a routine had been set and each was used to sleeping separately. The weekend was just enough time. We still had nights where she'd wake up crying at night - most DS slept through it but if he did wake up and tried to get our attention, we'd just tell him shh, go back to bed, we will make sure she's okay. They still sleep in the same room, by choice and in the same bed, even tho we have an extra room AND extra bed :)
  • How far along are you? 12 weeks
Are you using same OB as your first delivery? Same as second child, different from first.
What do you hope to be different about this delivery, if anything? Faster! First was 38 1/2 hours, second was 12 and that did seem fast lol but faster would be nice. i hope I'm not over due, both children came late and by forty weeks it just gets stressful.
Something that you miss that you enjoy pre-pregnancy - craving wine and sandwiches
Show me a pic of your previous baby/babies nursery - I don't think I have one. Its light green as we went neutral for team green, there's a crib, toddler bed and area rug. And two dressers.
Random thoughts/questions - just worried about lack of sleep and caring for three in general.

@CoastalMomma - what's the age gap for yours? My two sons have shared a room since ds2 was two months and ds1 was 1 1/2. Ds1 usually sleeps like a brick and I would just take the baby out when he wakes. They have woken each other up, but for the most part it works. I prepared ds1 by telling him his brother would be sharing a room and showing where each would sleep. Ds1 moved to a toddler bed and was very good with it. Ds2 is 2 and wouldn't be ready for a toddler bed so I guess I lucked out. Not sure what to do with number three yet lol. It works though, not perfect but as baby gets older and sleeps better it's less of an issue.

Are you using same OB as your first delivery? No. We moved right before I got pregnant last time but I kept my same doctor because it was closer to my office (in Manhattan, we live in the burbs now). For this pregnancy, I switched to a practice closer to my house

What do you hope to be different about this delivery, if anything? I would love for it to be shorter. I was in labor about 40 hours with DD. She was sunny side up and weighed 9lb 5oz. It was just.....tiring.....and difficult. All things considered, it wasn't that difficult of a labor, but something shorter and a smaller baby would be appreciated.

Something that you miss that you enjoy pre-pregnancy: I don't give up much of anything when I am pregnant. I don't really drink anyway, so I don't miss that. I do miss having energy, though. I am just constantly tired.

No, we don't live in that city anymore unfortunately. I miss that practice.

What do you hope to be different about this delivery, if anything?
Just more moral support. DH had food poisoning when DS was born so he was almost totally useless. I'd like my mom or someone else to also be in the room this time. Aside from that, I might try to go med free. Maybe. But overall I had a really smooth delivery and pregnancy with DS and I can only hope to be so lucky again.

I've had a different OB with each baby, but the same hospital. My first OB was fine, but I wanted someone I could talk with easier. I LOVED my second OB. Seriously, she is AMAZING. I had her through my miscarriage an second birth and first med free birth. But, she moved.... *not cool*. I really like my OB now, but I just really miss my old one.

I havent had had a real nursery set-up. First baby was born while we lived in a one bedroom apt so she had a baby corner. Second baby shared a room with her big sister so we just kind of made it all fit. This baby will share space with the office/guest room, but I'll decorate the baby side. I'm so tired of renting. I just want to have our forever home already with all the space we want. Someday...

Random... I feel very relaxed this go around. Very low stress about all the "thou shall not"s, etc. It's been nice.

Are you using same OB as your first delivery?
No, after a friend of mine had a bad experience with my 1st OB I decided I'd switch with any other PG. plus I wanted to switch hospitals. The hospital that I will deliver at now has the highest level nicu, which makes me feel better. Also it's just nicer all around.

What do you hope to be different about this delivery, if anything?
nothing. The delivery with my 1st was textbook. 12 hours, epidural worked (well it wore off at one point but I was able to get more so it was all good), pushed for an hour, no major complications. I feel like I'm going to have a horrible labor and delivery this time around bc I got so lucky the 1st time.

    11+5 today

Are you using same OB as your first delivery?
    Nope! Had a bad experience.

What do you hope to be different about this delivery, if anything?
Well last time I labored for 12 hours before going in for a c section, the anesthesiologist screwed up the epidural so many times they ended up just putting me under general. DH didnt get to be in there, he was sobbing in the hallway. So everything? This time I think we'll have a planned c section with a spinal, and DH will be able to be there for EVERYTHING. And I will get to be awake! My hospital doesn't have the right resources to attempt a VBAC. If something happened it would be "catestrophic" to me and the baby and we just want to get baby here safe. Not looking forward to another c section recovery tho.

  • @daniellelynette I did hear about a few issues but figured they were probably being worked out. I can imagine it helps so much in situations like that!
