My H is an auditor at a big four company...not exactly glamorous and the hours can be terrible! This past week he came home around 3 AM every morning. Luckily that year-end is over and we can see each other again. Although the hours are bad, his job really helped support us when I was in grad school, and the benefits are great.
I'm another with DH in the military...feel very blessed he is National Guard and we haven't endured any deployments so far. Blessings and thoughts to those dealing with them; I struggled (still do) during training. His "civilian" job is currently a delivery driver. He's done a lot of different things during our relationship, but he has a CDL and seems to enjoy what he does now. He currently is delivering appliances and other random orders.
My husband is a delivery driver for a local plumbing supply company. Doesn't sound like much, but he does a lot of heavy lifting, etc. it's not his dream job... but it helps us support our family
I've posted about DH's job a few times, but I'm up at 2:30 AM babysitting a server downtime for work so I don't care if I'm repetitive. I'm sleepy!
Anyways, DH is the camp director of a Methodist summer camp that also does spring and fall retreats. It means 16 hour days in the summer, but very relaxed winters. This time of year is when the work starts to ramp up, it gets insane in the summer, and then it starts to die down in September. He's been in camping for 8 years and has worked at a variety of camps - a Jewish summer camp, 2 outdoor adventure camps for private schools, a technology camp. The one we're at now is really special to us because it's where we went as kids, where we met, and where we got married.
Me: 29, DH: 31 Married: October 2014 Began TTC: April 2015 BFP #1: 9/18/15. EDD 5/18/16. MC 10/26/15. (9w) BFP #2: 2/27/16. EDD 11/7/16. MC/D&E 4/20/16 (11w) BFP #3: 9/22/16. EDD 5/29/17. DS born 4/24/17 BFP #4: 5/20/18. EDD 1/23/19.
DH's role can change depending on the job site he's on. While he has worked for his present company for about 4 years, it is all contractor based and he can hop companies about whenever.
Currently, he's a Safety Officer on a chemical remediation site. Usually he works on sites involving military ordnance, which are much more fun because those jobs often involve getting to destroy found ordnance with explosives. He was EOD in the Army, which stands for Explosive Ordnance Disposal, and that training and experience is what led him to and qualified him for this industry.
It’s not that I don’t like you, it’s that I don’t know you. Stranger Danger.
@RedInLove do y'all like contracting? I know it can be way stresssful at times not knowing when the next job is coming. DH could get out and go to work in Alaska for a contracting job that's pretty much guaranteed because of his job in the Army. We've thought about it!

DH likes the work itself, but the periods where we don't know when or where the next job will be can be nerve wracking. We do budget for that as best we can, and DH is higher up so he has a wider range of opportunity to choose from, but it is still uneasy now and then. But overall his income allows me to stay at home, and I travel with DD to visit him as often as we can.
