Re: STM+ check in 2/17

  • Funny you ask the question about buying anything for baby. I haven't bought anything yet and I'm starting to feel guilty or like a slacker. I am starting from scratch because I thought I would never have another so I got rid of everything. (My son is 3.5 ) I actually feel more overwhelmed this time about buying all the necessities. I'm wondering if I should start a registry just for myself so I can be organized. I am buying everything on my own this time which will be weird. I do not want any gifts from anyone, I can afford it all on my own, it's just different.

What symptoms are you having? How does it compare to your previous pregnancies?
Not many anymore which is just like my last one. Still heartburn randomly which is different.

    Any appointments this week? Monday!

Rant/Rave/Questions? I'm maybe starting to feel the baby. I had an anterior placenta with my last pregnancy so this would be a lot earlier if it truly is the baby. We have the 60's through Wednesday so spending lots of time outside before it goes back to the typical 30's.

Have you started buying anything to prepare for baby?
We got our double stroller (City Select) around Black Friday for over 40% off.

GTKY: Are you planning a baby moon? If so, where and when?
I keep going back and forth on this. We were going to do Colorado but then it was bad timing and everything was jacked high pricewise (typical spying break time). Whatever we do won't really be a babymoon since I want DD there to experience it with us.

  • @bumpybump I had an anterior placenta last time too.  I am excited to feel more movement this time and I think it will be nice for DS to be able to feel the baby easily.

How many other children do you have?
    DS who is 3

    How far along are you?

What symptoms are you having? How does it compare to your previous pregnancies?
Way more sleepy, but last time I did get treated for morning sickness so I spent most of my day lying down.

    Any appointments this week?
I went on Tuesday, just a basic heartbeat check up.

    Rant/Rave/Questions?

Have you started buying anything to prepare for baby?
We just found out it is a girl so I stared looking at around, but I will wait for sales before I buy anything.  We don't have a Target in town so I will probably start stocking up on pj's the next time I am there because that is all DS wore the first 6 months.

GTKY: Are you planning a baby moon? If so, where and when?
No, DH used up all his vacation at Christmas so we need to save it for paternity leave.  Plus we live in a tourist destination so once the weather gets better we will have a continuous stream of family and friends visiting.

    How far along are you?

What symptoms are you having? How does it compare to your previous pregnancies?
Acne & exhaustion.  Down to occasional nausea.  Exhaustion way worse.  Do you remember any acne first time around.

Any appointments this week? Had to go to step separate labs to complete bloodwork yesterday. My endocrinologist is with a different system than my OB.  Luckily I got it done in about 25 minutes.

    Rant/Rave/Questions?

Have you started buying anything to prepare for baby? Nope.  Just more internet stalking of baby items.

GTKY: Are you planning a baby moon? If so, where and when? Possibly.  May join DH on a business trip to Minneapolis.  Not sure I want to do the car ride though.  If not possibly Toronto or Montreal.  Did Toronto last time and it was awesome.

    @britvahok
With my anterior placenta I think I could feel DS around 20-22 weeks.  I had a cousin with one and she never really felt her baby (but this is uncommon).  My understanding is the movement also feels muffled.

ETA.  I also slept really well my entire pregnancy and I wonder if some of it had to do with the anterior placenta and not feeling the baby move as much.
    BabyFruit Ticker
  • @britvahokI didn't feel any kicks until into my 20-22 weeks. I said a range there because I can't remember the exact week without looking it up but I know it was as we were driving up a mountain in Colorado (guess she didn't like the altitude change). I agree with @shyviolet that I also slept well that pregnancy. I'm nervous I won't sleep as well this time :(

  • @britvahok I have an anterior placenta this time around (3rd baby) and I don't feel all the little jabs, just big movements like rolling and switching positions. The doctor was trying to find the HB and I could feel baby rolling away from the Doppler.

DS is 5 and DD is 17 months.

    How far along are you?

What symptoms are you having? How does it compare to your previous pregnancies?
the fatigue is finally subsiding, but I had that with both babies before. Headaches and round ligament pain are way worse this time.

    Any appointments this week?
Had my routine 16 week yesterday and everything looked good.

    Rant/Rave/Questions?
The weather is beautiful and I'm about to go walk to get lunch.

Found out out this past weekend that baby is a boy!!!

Have you started buying anything to prepare for baby?
Yes. I'm a planner and try to space all the necessities out. I have two rock and plays that baby will sleep in initially, double stroller, diaper bag, pumping bag and pump, some clothes and blankies. I still need to get material to make the car seat blanket and quilt.

GTKY: Are you planning a baby moon? If so, where and when?
We went to Nashville TN with DD but I think we will just do a weekend getaway somewhere close.
  • 1.  One son. He'll be 2 in June.

    2.  15 weeks

    3. Overall just a lot smoother.

    4.  None today

    5. Not yet, ready to find out the sex.  I'm dying to know.

    6. Probably not baby moon for us, but hoping for a short weekend trip to take DS to the zoo or aquarium.
  • How many other children do you have? 3 - DD is 7, DS1 is 5, DS2 is 2

How far along are you? 13w

What symptoms are you having? How does it compare to your previous pregnancies? Lots of fatigue, some sickness but it's getting much better, a bit of round ligament pain but overall it's pretty good. My other pregnancies were about the same. I think maybe I had a bit more morning sickness with my other two boys and I had really back round ligament pain really early on with my first but they have all been relatively smooth.

    Any appointments this week? No

    Rant/Rave/Questions?

Have you started buying anything to prepare for baby? No, but this is my fourth so I have pretty much everything. In a few weeks I will take the others out and let them pick something special for their new baby brother/sister. We did that for my last LO and it was really fun for the kids and they still remember what they got him before he was born. Otherwise, I don't think we will be buying very much more stuff. I will decorate the new nursery though. We just moved so it will be in a large alcove off our bedroom and it needs a complete reno. We have all the furniture from the others, it just needs hardwood, painting and some decorations.

GTKY: Are you planning a baby moon? If so, where and when? No, although my Mom has offered to watch the other kids at some point over the summer and let us have a weekend away. I'm not sure we will yet.

Have you started buying anything to prepare for baby? I haven't yet. I probably will wait until we know the sex of the baby

Still nausea in the evenings, headaches, mild food aversions. Been a much harder pregnancy than with DS.

A friend gave me a huge box of maternity clothes, which I'm so excited about since I cannot find any of mine. Seriously have no clue where they went - maybe disappeared in a move...

Not really - we are planning a trip to Lake Tahoe in the summer, but DS will be with us.

Have you started buying anything to prepare for baby? No, we don't know if it's a boy or girl yet. I'm hoping to really minimalistic, but I know I won't be able to help some things.

GTKY: Are you planning a baby moon? If so, where and when? Probably not. We might go to disney as a family, but I don't think we can afford to take a trip trip and we are always together.

Very similar except I'm so tired all the time, but can't ever get to sleep at night.

    Any appointments this week? nope

    Rant/Rave/Questions?
DH spent 500$ on a new turbo and replacement parts to fix his car only to get the swap done and find out it wasn't the turbo at all. so his car is still broken. yaaay.

Have you started buying anything to prepare for baby?
No... I want to so badly but all I really need are things I'd like to know the sex of baby to buy. We have all our big items from DD gender neutral so just little things to accent here and there.

GTKY: Are you planning a babymoon? If so, where and when?
No DH won't be around. I was cool with traveling alone with just DD but I can't add pregnant to the mix and still be comfortable alone. If my mom comes over early enough I want to take her into Paris and go to Amsterdam but that really depends on when she decides to fly here.

What symptoms are you having? How does it compare to your previous pregnancies?
Still tired, but the nausea has almost completely gone away.  I'm so happy about that.  My symptoms have been pretty similar and my level of nausea was somewhere between my first and second pregnancies.

    Any appointments this week?
    A checkup on Friday.

    Rant/Rave/Questions?
I took the NIPT on Monday and am anxiously awaiting the results.  Even though the sono tech and the person drawing my blood said the lab would email the results to me, when I log onto the lab's website, it says my results are being released to MFM.  I just hope I get a good call early in the week.

Have you started buying anything to prepare for baby?
I'd like to take advantage of the BRU trade in event that's going on until Monday to at least buy an infant car seat.  We just moved my kids to different car seats so I have things to trade in, but I feel weird buying anything at 13 weeks.  It just seems so early.

I am starting to feel so much better now that I am in second tri. I still have food aversions in the evening and try to do most of my eating early in the day. I did not have any food aversions with DD2, but was throwing up until week 16 with DD1

    Any appointments this week?
    None until March

    Rant/Rave/Questions?
Boy names are really really hard. Before I found out it was a boy I told my husband he could name a boy whatever he wanted. I have quickly rescinded that offer, but truly don't love a single name.

Have you started buying anything to prepare for baby?
We have tons of house rearranging/decor I want to do in my house, but I'm trying to wait for 24 weeks to do most things. I will probably buy him a sentimental present or outfit before then.

GTKY: Are you planning a baby moon? If so, where and when?
We are going to visit my parents in Anna Maria FL for 7 days followed by 2 days at Disney in March. Does it still count as a baby moon if kiddos come? That's the only vacation on the books for me until August.

  • @shyviolet what name did you end up going with? My last name is so freaking Italian and I don't want an Italian first name so this kid sounds like he is somewhat Irish like his mommy. My husband only likes Italian first names, I think to please his parents, and it irks me :)

  • @donehue All of SO's 36 first cousins are Italian, and my mother's side is very German, and the baby's last name is very English. Both SO & I have our grandmothers' maiden names as our middle names, but I'm not so in love with most of the names from those branches. E.g., I'm avoiding Gertrude, Olga, and Adolphina from the Germans, which I can't even try to Anglicize.

I'm working on a few of the less Italian first names (Madeleine, Theodore) from his side, and some of the prettier first names/nick names (Hazel, Anna "May", Ella Louise) from my mom's side as options so the parents are happy, before we pull from English/Scottish roots for middle names.

    Four: DD 19, DS 18, DD 13, DD 9.5

    How far along are you?

    What symptoms are you having?
Pelvic aching after being on my feet too much during the day, getting up twice a night to pee, exhausted and falling asleep between 9-10pm.
Pelvic "clicking" when I walk...(not looking forward to when the clicking becomes painful.)

    Any appts this week?
    Not until 3/13

    Rant/Rave/Questions:
I really want coffee and I really want wine.
I don't recall ever craving these things so badly.
I've had an occasional drip coffee here and there, but this morning I had an actual fantasy about going to Starbucks and ordering a cappuccino AND a drip coffee to go...seriously? These are my new fantasies?

Have you started buying anything for the baby?
No, and I'm terrified because even though I've had four children, I thought I was done and gave everything away. The only piece of baby furniture I do have is a changing table, and I only have that because the friend who I gave it to years ago, gave it back to me when we started TTC 2.5 years ago.

I feel like names are so dependent on personal taste.

DH is from Oregon and has a little crunchy hippy in him so when we first started looking he wanted something along those lines.  I am not a huge fan of those name but we decided on the name Grey, which gave us a little crunchy hippy without being too extreme.

We both really liked it but around 7 months I started having second thoughts and mentioned it to DH and he was too.  So we started the whole search over and had a list of top three and at the hospital ended up with Connor which was my number one.

DH is half Irish and we have an Irish last name so DS's name sounds very Irish even though we don't identify strongly that way.  Also if I was having another boy I think Grey would be back high on my list.

We did a family name for the middle name, would your DH be ok with that for an Italian name.  I am not a big fan of Italian boy names and am glad I don't have that battle ahead of me.

  • @lyse01 the German names are making me appreciate the Italian names! (And the 36 cousins is making me appreciate that most of their family is still in Italy!)

@shyviolet I love the name Grey :) and Connor is such a likeable name.

We were in the car for 6 hours today and I think I scared him into understanding my need for the name to not sound 100% Italian. We actually agreed (for the moment) on the Scottish name Callum for now because he likes Cal (I prefer Irish version Colm, but not going to argue). Middle name would be his father, Claudio. The other names we are/were seriously considering were Donach (from my maiden name) or Donato. I also really like Milo and Jamie. He likes Hudson. Neither of us can function not having a name for the little bean. We are Type A planners.

@hupp0013 you are making me want to go clothes shopping for this guy!

  • @donehue On the plus side, there are a lot of really good cooks (and a professional private chef) in the Italian family, so I eat really well and get sent home with three additional meals when we meet up with the cousins. :)
  • @donehue
I really like the name Callum.  It probably would have been high on our list but we have a good friend with that name.  We were going to do the middle name after my FIL, but towards the end of my pregnancy I decided DS already had the last name from my FIL so I wanted something from my family in his name.  Luckily DH was understanding, plus we named him after my dad who passed away while I was in college so he didn't have much of an argument there.

@lyse01  I am jealous of the good cooks in the family.  In DH's family outside of his sister everyone is horrible cooks (and freely admit it).  They served boxed mashed potatoes at Thanksgiving.  His mom is a decent cook too but everything is super healthy hippy food.

  • @shyviolet That is when I'd start volunteering to host Thanksgiving.
  • @lyse01  The next year I took mashed potatoes, green beans (the previous years had been from a can), and an apple pie. We don't live close to that family anymore, so now we do it at our house or with my family.

Trying to decide on a double stroller. DD is older but I know it would be helpful when we go to the zoo and other outings.

Just a couple sleepers that we used to announce our pregnancy DD. We have most of the big stuff the rest will wait till we know the sex.

Nope. We have a couple small trips planned but nothing just us two.
  • @shyviolet my in laws also use boxed potatoes and canned green beans. They refuse to change anything because this is how grandma always did it.
  • @leni410 I am a pretty go with the flow person but I don't think I could handle that.
