My cousin who was due on 3/14 just had her baby today due to preeclampsia. Baby was a little over 4 lbs so not too small. Will be in icu just to get fattened
We had our newborn care class last night. DH was adorable.
We get there and he's all "I'm great at diapers. I changed [niece who is almost 2]'s diapers all the time. I've got this.". Meanwhile we're diapering the dolls and I hear "wait, how do these tabs work?". He put the diaper on backwards.
Swaddling was another adventure. He just couldn't wrap his head around it. I told him we could practice on one of lo's stuffed animals.
@SienaC apparently one of the reasons the baby may have basically never been head down from 20-37 weeks is there might be a structural thing with my spine or pelvis he's hitting, so even without the chiro doing Webster specifically there's a small chance having chiro adjustments may help... and I'm basically in a 2-week kitchen sink window at this point to get him to flip.
@Gators&BoSox people asking about orders are THE WORST. Feel your pain for sure.
@kjd291@Gators&BoSox (thankfully) no snow here in the midwest (going to be almost 70 again today!! dreading this summer already...) but DS has been thanking God for garbage trucks the past couple weeks during prayers. Toddlers are awesome.

So I just walked the dog, made a giant batch of enchiladas, cleaned the whole kitchen, ironed all of DHs work shirts, and folded all the laundry... I think nesting has kicked in. Haha
@canadianinthesouth haha, that's how I've normally been. I legit don't even know where the energy came from. I even turned down eating for an extra hour to finish the cleaning I was doing. WHO AM I?!
Ladies, I could really use some feedback. Not sure if I'm being unreasonable or a little bishy, but I'm 18 days away from due date. DH wants to go to a friend's property (where there is limited phone signal) about an hr away to go off-roading on Saturday. I'm totally fine with him going during the daytime-he even said he'd call me periodically to check and make sure I'm alright, not in labor, etc. But he then said that he wants to stay the night there, and the bunkhouse he'd be staying the night in does not get phone signal unless he leaves his phone in the kitchen by the sink in the correct position! This friend only lives an hour away, so I suggested he just go for the day, however long he wants, and then come home to sleep because my concern is that his phone won't get signal if I do call him, or that he won't be able to hear it in the kitchen by the sink. His response to this is that if I couldn't reach him, I could call our friends who live up there and they could drive across the property to where he will be sleeping and let him know. He said he wants to stay the night so he can drink. I am all about not drinking and driving, and normally I don't mind if he wants to go stay the night out with the guys, but this made me so upset! They live an hour away, if I have to call our friends, it's going to take them time to get dressed and drive across their property to wake him up (not that it's their job to do that, anyways). Once he wakes up, it would take him a minute to get ready and get into the car. Then it would take him an hour to get to our house to me. We live 45 minutes away from the hospital. Not to mention.....how would he be able to drive to our house and then to the hospital if he's drunk??? Ugh. I guess I'll find out tonight if he is still planning on doing this or not. Sorry for the novel, again, not sure if my concerns are unfounded, or if this is a legit concern. I know I have 18 days until my due date, but sometimes the babes come early!

@Foersty have you had regular contractions, like braxton hicks? Have you diliated any? Have you had any false alarms that have sent you to the doctor or hospital? I'm 38 weeks 2 days, and have mo signs of anything, at this point I am fully expecting to be going 40 weeks or close to it.
@disneybaby84 Tuesday I had braxton hicks that were coming fairly regularly for a while in the morning before I left for work, so I packed the bags and carseat in the car just in case. I've had them off and on for the last couple days, but nothing consistent or alarming. I don't think I'm dilated or anything like that but I haven't been checked for it either.

Thank you...he ended up coming home and saying he wouldn't stay the night there because he had thought about it and realized that it probably wasn't a great idea. I'm glad he re thought that! lol

@RunBooRun Aw the diaper on backwards! Reminds me of when DD was a week old, my blood pressure spiked like CRAZY so I had to be admitted for the night at the hospital and I couldn't stop crying from being away (postpartum hormones were insane) so the nurses said I could bring DD for the night. This was the longest I've ever left SO with her so I was super nervous and when he brought her to me with a backwards diaper on I just laughed so hard then cried more. I thought it was the cutest thing ever! Still one of my favorite memories.
I am taking a couple of baby classes. Yesterday's childbirth class involved us getting to see some of the intervention instruments they use at the hospital. Including the internal monitor, which they actually SCREW INTO BABY'S HEAD while baby is still inside. Not gonna lie, it was horrifying! Granted, it's a little, thin, spring-like piece that is MAYBE 1/4cm depth, and the doula who runs this class was assuring us that it is safe and painless, but eaugh. Really hoping we won't need that intervention!
It's 3:30am, been up with DD since 11:30. No clue what's got into this kid. Teeth? Sleep regression? All I can keep thinking is 1: what the hell am I doing having another one of these sleep depriving things!? And 2: these strong BH contractions better just be from exhaustion... I cannot go into labor on absolutely no sleep. wahhhh.
((Side note)) i always hated one year old parties.. .didn't understand the point. Waste of time and money for a clueless toddler. then I had my own kid and threw a huge one too. Hahah.
We're headed to Target today for the Lego Batman event. Taking some 3 year pics of DS tonight. Having people over tomorrow night and then no work Monday! @kjd291 All I can think is DS just finally started sleeping through the night from 7:30-6:30 in the past 6 months-year. What am I doing starting over again?!

@kjd291 about to head into town and see what they have. If we can't find anything, may just get him a hardbound copy of the Calvin and Hobbes books to enjoy when he's older. I feel like that cartoon series is the epitome of boyness
@kjd291 keeping my fingers crossed for you that LO stays in another day!!
My coworkers threw me an amazing surprise baby shower/birthday party yesterday (I turn 31 tomorrow) with so many gifts & treats including a homemade ice cream cake covered in rainbow sprinkles!! I work all weekend so I'm probably gonna be indulging a little too much again with the leftover sugary stuff between today/tomorrow but eh...it's my birthday weekend & my baby is almost 90% done cooking so bring on those sprinkles!
@npaulie ooh, yes! Cannot go wrong with Calvin and Hobbs! So good!
@datalover13 right!? i also bought a nursing top that arrived yesterday-and all I couldn't think was... I JUST got my boobs back, here we go again. Haha. Cant wait to actually meet this little one so I can love and WANT to take care of her - right now it's all just "what am I getting myself into" cuz there are no mama bear hormones kicked in yet.
@serenity13 I'll probably be around tomorrow... but just in case: happy early birthday!! Indulge away and enjoy your bday weekend! So glad your co-workers surprised you with a nice little party!
@kjd291 I am also rooting for you to not go into labor on MIL's bday!! Stay put baby! @serenity13 happy early bday!!! glad you enjoyed some delicious cake!
so DH was up in the middle of the night puking - I was paranoid he had gotten a stomach bug and had all sorts of dreams that I started feeling sick too, but luckily he's fine this morning, seems like just something he ate. I thought he'd milk it and stay in bed today but his dad showed up to work on the siding of our house so he of course had to go out and help him.
This weekend I am going to finish writing baby shower thank you notes and going to brunch Sunday!
@kjd291 Hoping you make it through the day... I would be so anxious and have loved your commentary on getting past her bday. I'm contemplating changing our "girl name" because I think it might be too close to my MIL. Also... yes to wanting the mama bear hormones that make me want to care for this baby and not be thinking that we made a crazy decision and got pregnant too soon!
For this child I prayed, and the Lord has granted me my petition that I made to him. 1 Samuel 1:27 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
@shines721 glad it's entertaining and not too annoying! Hah T-minus 12hrs
Although I'm just realizing with this birthday and then last weeks snow storm hell moving through - all i have done is keep wanting to stay pregnant!! Once tomorrow gets here I have nothing to help me keep wanting to chug along. I'm gonna go crazy! HAh. Guess my commentary will switch from "baby stay in through ___" and will now start the more normal "get this baby out" phase. bring on the sex and pineapple!
@Foersty I'm glad he came to the right conclusion on his own. I would definitely not be comfortable with that.
I watched my 4 year old nephew for the day yesterday while my DH and his brother worked on his jeep. OMG I don't know how you STMs do this with other kids to care for. I am soooo wiped out. Also so far I have zero desire to nest. Just a strong urge to lay around and eat cadbury mini eggs. I hope it kicks in soon.
DH brought up last night how theres only 20 more days until my due date. I replied that it sounds like a lot of days with all of these cramps and BH lol. Well this morning I come downstairs to this little pile of blue construction paper squares. He made me a countdown and under each number is a little phrase like "I'm so excited!", "days til your shoes fit" or "days til you don't pee 50 times a day". On day 4, he crossed it out and put 1 because he knows thats when I want to have her and put "let's welcome Scarlett" This isn't really his M.O.! He's super sweet but doesn't usually put that into tangible things. I love it so much and of course I cried lol. I was caught so off guard
