Male factor infertility

Just curious if anyone has had success getting pregnant after male factor infertility due to the hubby getting testosterone pellets/injections?

Re: Male factor infertility

  • Hi @Morgan1143, my hubbys urologist told us that testosterone supplements/injections were worse for fertility and upping our sperm count.  My husband has been doing HCG injections amongst other things.  He was hopeful it would work but after some time waiting we moved onto IVF.  His sperm count did go up some but not where we thought we would get pregnant naturally.  We are still doing the injections though.

  • Thanks for answering!! I was beginning to think I was the only one with this issue. My hubs got the testosterone pellets over two years ago and we weren't told at the time that it would affect his fertility. A year and a half later when we still weren't pregnant we both got checked and they found no sperm. My hubs is on hcg too but he also takes clomid. I was wondering if his count would come up enough to naturally conceive. His count was 19 million after 3 months of treatment but we haven't tested again since then. How long did y'all wait until deciding to do ivf? This is so frustrating especially knowing that it could have easily been prevented.
  • We got our official diagnosis last feb and found out he had varicoceles so that was also our issue.  He had surgery but 4 months post op his sperm count was still at only 4-5 million (which was a huge jump from almost 0 for us).  We froze a sample and then moved onto Ivf in November.  We were just ready.  Our urologist said there is a 4-6 month turnaround time on sperm counts so you may want to get it checked again just to see if it's gone up from 19mil!

  • Hi Morgan1143! Sorry you find yourself here. We have MFI but not from the same thing. We ended up moving onto IVF after 3 failed IUIs and had success. We also did ICSI. Good luck to you!
