We did a woodland/adventure themed room for DS. It was intentionally pretty gender neutral, so we'll stick with that them for this little girl as well. I'm going to swap out some of the art, but otherwise it should all be fine. We keep the babies in our room in a bassinet for a while anyway (I think we transitioned DS somewhere around 8-10 weeks old when I went back to work so he could sleep longer without me waking him up at 5 AM). Since my maternity leave will run into summer vacation this year (I'm a teacher), she'll probably stay in our room longer.
The biggest struggle is going to be converting our guest room into DS's new room. We need to paint, get toddler furniture, move all of his stuff over, transition him to sleeping in a big boy bed...yikes! I'm hopeful that all of that will go smoothly and I'm going to try and get a lot of work done over our winter break if I can (and enlist family help to move the old furniture out!).
We are doing a Monster's Inc nursery. I found the bedding for 25% off on black friday. I want to paint the room blue and green. I'm going to have to look at pinterst for better ideas once we are ready to paint.
I love seeing everyone's progress! Our nursery is still the storage room...ugh. We have decided on a nautical theme. The crib and dresser are grey so we want grey, navy blue, and teal as the main colors. Target has so much cute stuff. I can't wait to finally start. First step is box up a zillion things and drop off at Goodwill!
It's so exciting to see some people starting up their nurseries! We will be doing a travel theme, so excited to start, but likely I won't get to start until end of December.

@Nolegirl1185 I was just at Target this weekend and saw all kinds of nautical themed stuff for baby's room! Anchors, whales, ocean. So much fun! Can't wait to see what progress you make.
Told myself after the anatomy scan I'd buckle down and work on it. We need to repaint and will probably have it off white. I want to do simple white furniture. My parents are getting me a rocker in white. So I'd like a white crib and dresser I guess. My plan is to stick with my storybook theme and buy gold frames for prints like the book pages in the images below OR go with French phrases OR possibly both if it ends up looking alright. (I speak French) Then I have a gold antique mirror to put over the dresser from my grandmother who passed away in 2015. A little tribute to her. I hope it comes together alright. I'm a little hesitant on all the white but the furniture will hopefully wipe clean alright.
Basically little girl is going to be surrounded by gold like the princess she is.
Posted awhile ago about no nursery ideas because I was focusing all of my attention on potentially adding on to our house...well it turns out that we are going to move and our new home is scheduled to be completed within a week of my due date. So there won't be much in the way of cute part colors or anything but I am hoping to find do some cute maps or adventure type prints to hang on the walls once we move in. We will just be using the furniture from DS's nursery.
For DS we did forest critters. It's his room, but still the nursery, and the boys will share it eventually if we have the misfortune of still living here.
@KirstinH88 yes, I've been eyeing it all for awhile now. I want it all lol. I keep making myself hold off on the decorations until the big items are done (crib, dresser, rocker, etc) Crib and dresser are done so far, among many other things. But I still need a rocker of some sort and a mattress before I'll be buying anything decorative.
I bought a second-hand Land of Nod crib from a neighbor last night for $75. It looks to be in really good shape and came with the toddler rail (and a mattress, not sure if I'm going to use it but the peoples' house seemed nice and clean...). We are hopefully moving next summer, and we currently rent anyway, so I'm not doing too much in the way of nursery decorating. I even registered for white crib sheets because I don't want to make any decorating decisions. I got a second-hand glider (but may end up springing for a new one). The last thing I really need is a changing table.

I know I complain about DH dragging his feet on the baby name front, but this man is making progress on the nursery. Here's one of the sides of DSs old crib, sanded and painted white (from brown). Looks good!
Sorry to resurrect a dead post, but has anyone used Carousel Designs for customs nursery items? I'm considering doing a changing pad through them even though they are pricey. I can't find what I want with the right colors anywhere else, and wondering if their stuff is worth the price tag? Thanks!
@BabyBlake042017 I haven't but I'm kind of glad this threads back up as I'm sure there's been lots more progress on the nursery front.. let's see them!!
For our boys we did sky blue for the walls and I put up some paper birds and a mobile from Etsy. As they got older we took down the birds, kept the sky blue, and put up some traffic, road, car/truck decals. It's worked well.
For this little girl I have been planning on doing a light grey with pink, green, white. The nursery is mostly painted and it's a bit bluer than I was planning but I love that colour anyway. We'll add white furniture and just have a simple, modern nursery.
Even though we know we're having a boy I've been drawn to mint green with yellow accents. The colors are so soft and serene so I'm going with it. We're doing lots of giraffes with a few elephants and monkeys. Lots of stuff is on it's way in the mail, but can't wait to put it all together!
@shaunessa I'm with you. We've cleaned out but not even that completely. I have to figure out where to stash my wedding dress. Haha. I told DH he HAS to at least sand and prime the walls by next weekend because my mom is coming to visit and insists on painting if it's not done already. She's trying to help me get him to move already on the nursery.
We've cleared out the room where the stuff that's currently in the nursery will go....now to paint that room and then move the stuff occupying the nursery out. We are so far behind!
I thought I was the only one slacking on this! I have a ton to do.. but I did put the crib together! Mostly to see if the cat shows interest, (thankfully she hasn't). We need to move a bunch out of the room once I stop slacking and pack it all up.
Oh man this is just a reminder how far behind I am. We haven't even cleaned out the nursery yet which currently a catch all for junk and the cat furniture. Man I've got to get it together.
It's not much to look at, but it took all day and I am excited about it! Got the extra room (dumping grounds) all cleared out, got the dresser built, the clothes sorted by size and put away (not washed yet), and got the storage shelves in! We don't have closets so we have to be super creative with storage for the nursery. It isn't much, but it's forward progress!
@mama5181 glad I'm not alone. Our nursery is just full of baby stuff right now, in no way ready for a baby. But I keep telling myself she's going to live in our room for a while, so it's NBD.
DD #1: April 2017 DD #2: May 2020 Baby #3: EDD May 2023; MC October 2022
We finally have both the dresser and the crib together! The room is cleared out from being the junk room, but full of random baby stuff now so it doesn't look all cutesy and ready. I'll get some pics this weekend. I love hearing and seeing everyone's progress. It adds to the realness that it is getting closer and closer
@catem07 baby will be in our room too, we don't have a choice as we only have two bedrooms until our addition is finished. (which isnt really going to make any progress until summer) we also gave DD the much bigger bedroom as she has a lot more stuff. When the addition is finished our current bedroom will stay the nursery so trying to get it somewhat together now.
My husband started "nesting" over Christmas. It surprised me but, its so cute to see him so excited. We had already decided on our theme, mermaid/ocean. We picked paint after our A/S in Dec. (it's our tradition) and that will be a super light mint green. The crib is the same we have for our older daughter but, we ordered grey this time. I think the grey with light green is going to look great! We hit up some after Christmas sales for decor. Apparently, ocean was a huge thing for Christmas decorations this year. We got some awesome paper-mache fish "ornaments" on clearance we will hang up.
This is very bare bones but we're proud we actually got those decals up without a fight. Trying to make something out of a small space has been a challenge but it's coming together. Panorama warps the pic a bit
So far we've moved DS out of the nursery and into his big boy bed, but that's about it. The nursery has become a dumping ground for things that we haven't organized, yet! I keep telling myself that there's not much that we need to do - even less since she'll be in our room for a while anyway. New decor, new sheets, lift the crib mattress back up, wash and put away her clothes...it's really nothing more than an afternoon's worth of work at this point.
We're keeping the same wilderness/adventure theme that we used with DS. We painted the walls a light green and brown (2 walls of each color) and got white furniture with DS with the intention of being gender neutral. I have a few mint and coral decor things that I want to get for little miss since I moved the majority of the decor over to DS's new room. And new sheets. But in general, everything else is staying the same!
We were Team Green for DD also so the nursery is staying the same. The colors are yellow, gray, black and white. The photos popped up on my TimeHop just recently! This was the nursery before she arrived. We've added a few things specific to her in the past two years but those will be moved to her new room to make way for #2. I'm excited to see how it changes with its newest owner!
@belocin did you have issues with DD and the stuff around the changing table? DS would have ripped the stuff off the walls, and my DD likes to kick the wipes that are next to her changing pad
@pammasu0909 She's only recently gotten long enough to reach the wipes with her feet and she doesn't really care for them. She does like to grab the lotions from the basket when we sit her up but puts them right back when it's time to get down.
I finished this mural today for the nursery and I'm really happy with how it turned out! It's from a stencil kit, since there's no way I could draw this on my own Now I need to move on to more practical things, but this was so much fun to do
@kitkat8387 Wow! I'm impressed. I don't have an ounce of artistic capabilities in my DNA otherwise I'd love to stencil a cute elephant on the wall in the nursery.
My nursery is no where near done, but it's all pretty soft and serene blues, greens, yellows with a subtle safari theme. My DH (bless his heart) found an old childhood Mickey Mouse poster that his mom saved and sent to us. I had stuck it in storage. Now he wants to hang it in the nursery. It's all black, white, red, yellow. It does not match AT ALL and is totally rubbing on my perfectionist tendencies, but I can't crush his little sentimental heart haha. The things we do for marriage
@BabyBlake042017 pretty! I like the theme. Where did you find your dresser, if I may ask? I'm looking for one that small and most of what I'm finding is just too big. That looks perfect.
@BabyBlake042017 DH did the same thing with DS's nursery! We had a pretty neutral brown/green/yellow wildness theme, and he got this rainbow colored bicycle print that he just LOVED and wanted to have in there...it's not as mismatched as Mickey is, but it irks me a little bit every time I see it in there, haha.
I agree with PP...stick it behind the door! Or, in the closet...
