Update: Help! Freaking out over faint lines

edited February 2017 in Pregnant after IF
I tested on 6dp5dt in the morning and then in the evening (two left tests on picture) and again this morning with FMU on 8dp5dt (right on picture) and the line isn't any darker, and I'm freaking out over a possible chemical pregnancy. Does anyone have any experience with this? I'm freaking out - this is my first ever BFP and I'm so so scared.

Re: Update: Help! Freaking out over faint lines

  • Oh and my clinic won't do my beta until Monday!!
  • 6 and 8dpt is still very early, which could account for the faint lines.  Fx for you,  try to keep busy and distracted!

  • I wouldn't pay too much attention to the darkness of the lines. I used FRER tests, which are supposed to be the most sensitive and accurate, and one day I got a SUPER dark line then the next day it wasnt as dark. I drove myself crazy analyzing the darkness and shouldn't have. I am now 16 weeks with twins. A line is a line! GL!

  • I agree don't pay attention to the darkness... there can be difference in darkness just due to the ink in the test... I saw dark and light lines all using the same brand

  • My 2nd line didn't get dark until almost a week after my beta (at 16dp5dt). My test at 10dp5dt (day of beta) looked almost identical to your tests there. Don't freak over the darkness of the line, seriously! Good luck to you on Monday!

I now have a whole row of very faint tests - each one when I took it was barely visible at 3mins, and obviously the tests you see here have dried and darkened after the 10min mark. The last one was taken last night on a 1 hour hold, but I don't think there's any hope at this point.

  • @LadyBee17 I'm sorry that you are feeling like you have lost hope - it is an awful feeling that I remember well. As long as you are still getting a line, I think there is still reason to hope, though. And it does look to me like the line got darker on some of these. Plus as other ladies have said, the darkness of the line is not always indicative of anything at all. Do you know what the threshold for HCG is on this brand of test?

    *TW*
This may not be what you are hoping to hear, but I went through a very similar scenario during FET #2, and it ended in a c/p. I hope that yours ends differently than mine did. My best advice while you wait for your beta is to step away from the HPTs. You will drive yourself crazy (I know I did and wish that I hadn't). The good news, though, is that FET #3 stuck and I am now 27 weeks with a healthy baby boy. Sending hugs your way and best of luck with your beta on Monday.

  • @BlueEyedDreamer I'm glad to hear you made it through - thank you for the insights, and I wish you a happy and healthy remaining 13 weeks! To answer your question, the threshold of these tests is 25miu, I believe.

I've stopped testing (didn't this morning) and am just waiting it out until beta on Monday. I'll post an update once I know so if anyone else goes through this hopefully they won't lose their mind like I have...

Thanks to everyone who replied - what a tough week this has been!
  • Keep going strong @ladybee17.
Hope you have some fun things planned this weekend to keep your mind of things and it flies by.

  • @LadyBee17 Thank you for the good wishes. Hopefully you will be joining us here very soon! I remember well what a rough week it was leading up to my beta that cycle, so I really feel for you right now! Please take extra care of yourself and like @tvh1982 said plan some fun things to keep yourself distracted this weekend.

  • @LadyBee17 Ughh I know the wait is terrible and I know you don't want to get your hopes high. I at some point felt like a negative would hurt no matter what and decided to allow myself to be positive if I could. With my 2nd transfer I tested at 6 days and got a faint line and it was really a BFP, I hope that's the case for you! Sending you tons of prayers!

  • @LadyBee17 I truly believe you have no reason to lose hope right now! Granted, I never tested before my beta. However, my beta was on 10dp5dt and when I got the call that my HCG was 179.3 I took a HPT just to have my first ever experience of seeing a second line. It looked almost identical to your 10dpt test up there! I took another HPT 2 days later and the test looked identical to the one I took on beta day, even though my HCG had more than doubled and was now 480.3 on 12dpt. It wasn't until 16dp5dt that the line actually looked darker to me, and that was the last HPT I took. I'm 23 weeks pregnant today.

After we go through all that we do to get pregnant it's so easy for us to get wrapped up in the what ifs and mind games. But truth be told, this pregnancy is completely in the hands of nature/your body (or God if you believe), and there isn't anything that you can do. The best thing you can do for your body right now is relax (at least try to!) and have faith that your body is doing what it is supposed to do, whatever that means.

    Best of luck to you!
