I am trying to find a few names that honor some family members on my side of the family as we used a family name for my first son on my husband's side of the family.

Open to suggestions for FN's or MN's. Also I am not 100% set on these actual names, any alternate spellings  or nicknames will be considered.

Girl - Heide, Lola, Edythe, Kae, Jane, Bonnie, Naomi, Melinda, Joy, Marie, Tesha, Ardy, Ester, Florence

Boy - Bryan, Donald, Dean, Daniel, David, Rodney, Vernon, Layne, Kramer,

  • Heidi Jane, and Edith Florence ate nice for a girl.

I like Bryan dean and David Layne for the boys. I like Vernon,  but don't love with the other options.
  • Edith Kae/Kay
    Edith Joy
    Esther Joy
    Esther Marie
    Melinda Jane
  • Joy, Jane, and Florence are nice middle names. They'd work with pretty much any fn of your choice. Dean, Daniel, and David are nice mn for boys. I don't love any of them as first names, but Jane, Joy, or Dean are ok. I would choose a fn you like and use a family mn.
  • Florence Joy
    Naomi Jane
    Florence Jane
    Melinda Joy

    Rodney Dean
    Brian Daniel
  • Naomi Florence or Naomi Joy

    Dean Rodney or Rodney Dean

    DD: Ophelia 5/18/15
  • Are you purposely spelling names wrong to be cutesy?
  • Lola Jane and Daniel Vernon are my fav mash ups
  • Melinda Jane, definitely! And I like David Lane (but not Layne)

  • Are you purposely spelling names wrong to be cutesy?

It was a straightforward question, no need to read into it with your own insecurity.

Then are they misspelled because they are matching how a family member spelled them?

    Here's a helpful tip

If you get upset and defensive when someone randomly questions a non traditional spelling of a name you are considering, don't use it. When using a unique spelling of a name you will run into a lifetime of correcting people and more importantly your child will. You can't get upset and say people are being rude.
I second this. Also, your OP stated that alternate spellings will be considered so it can still be a wonderful honor to your family. I'm not one to judge any spellings, but you can't be offended when people question the spellings.

Girl- Naomi Marie I think is pretty, I don't like Ester Florence or Ardy.
Boy- Lane Daniel (don't like the Layne spelling), I don't like Kramer Rodney or Donald.

  • I wasn't being rude. You specifically wrote you were open to alternative spellings. You brought the spelling issue up.
