So this is probably silly and a FTM thing. I have to go to the dr and take LO with me. I've done this already but it's been to the dentist or OB so I didn't worry about her getting sick. This time it's my family dr so I know almost everyone there is going to be sick. What can I do to lower her chances of getting sick? I know I can cover the car seat but anything else I just don't know of.
GTKY:
I've actually gone ghost hunting. My group and I saw what we thought were 2 boys and a girl wearing "old time" clothing carrying lanterns. We were never proven wrong lol.
@Ladybug2821 I had to take Vera to my family Dr. When I was having gallbladder issues. Not only was there a sick kid with a 102 fever in the tiny sweat locker of the waiting room, I had to take her out of the car seat and feed her because she was freaking out. And she was only 6 weeks old. She was absolutely fine if it gives you any piece of mind. Hopefully your circumstances will be different in the waiting room but the end results the same.
@brzvice I'm sure I will have to feed her during that time also which freaks me out even more. Do you think they'll come get me from my car when the dr is ready?? Lol
Would anyone be interested in doing a GTKY thread? Can be just one or weekly. I lurked during my pregnancy and the group now is much different than then.
GTKY: Never seen one but would be excited to. There is a Reformatory from the 1800's that does night tours in our state, according to some people it is haunted . I'm trying to build the courage to spend the night there and to convince my husband to come with me.
Completely random and tmi here but when I'm pumping in my office at work I have a window next to me I can see my reflection in and I am mortified at the appearance of me milking my udders. Literally udders. My breasts totally have changed and I doubt will ever be the same again. Also, during sexy time I don't want them handled in any way shape or form. Not sure if that is normal or not.
Btw a gtky is a great idea. Sadly, We only have a handful of participants now so we might as well cozy up.
I think a GTKY would be fun... I didn't get to bump much while pregnant and mostly joined right at the end so it would be nice to know you gals more.... I guess the FB group isn't accepting new members either so that's a thing
@brzvice I feel the same way. I don't want them touched at all. I feel like there is nothing sexy about milk coming out of my breasts. But H has other things in mind which drives me nuts. In always yelling at him not to touch lol.
I loathe my boobs being touched right now. I was the same when I was breastfeeding and pumping (at work) with DS1. Pumping makes my boobs kind of sore, so that doesn't help. DH knows this, but it doesn't stop him from copping a feel.
Also...heyyyyy everyone. I'm back at work now and it's a little easier to troll TB.
Sorry I haven't been around much guys, trying to catch up on 3 weeks of assignments in one week, and it just so happens to be the same week all the kids have appointments!
For the moms that are breast-feeding and bottlefeeding, at this point is it necessary to still slow pace bottlefeed or should they be established enough now that we can just feed them a bottle regularly? Bottlefeeding actually takes longer than breast-feeding right now.
In other completely random and unimportant news, I bought the most amazing smelling Lush bath bomb and once all of H's family leaves tomorrow, I plan on taking the most scolding hot bath with my bath bomb and soaking all my very tired mom parts...I even got new jammies so basically my life is about to be made. If I'm feeling frisky I might even get some Chinese food ahead of time so i can eat and Netflix while soaking. I. Can't. Wait.

@Ladybug2821 I bf and bottlefeed but have never been able to pace bottle feed her because little mama screams bloody murder if I pull the bottle out of her mouth before she sucks it dry. she still is a lengthy nurser but I believe that is due to my low supply and she has to really work for it. Sorry I can't ya help much
I don't know where each of you guys is at with desire to lose baby weight, but I'd really like to... here's my situation: Pre pregnanxy: 143 lbs End of pregnancy: 198 lbs. In 3 weeks I went down to 162.
I am STILL 162. Every. Damn. Day!!!! For 2 months now!
No matter what I eat, how often, how many meals a day, what time... exercising once or twice... oh my gahhhhh. It's so frustrating. I don't snack much and eat fairly light. Lots of fruits and veggies, yogurt, etc. I'm breastfeeding. I know people before ms have said that "melts off the pounds...." ya right!!!
Anyone else stuck on the scale like me? Or know how to get unstuck???? I want my clothes to fit:(
@Kittens22 I'm right there with ya. Pre-Preg weight was 115. I shot up to 155 by the end of it. Now I'm in perpetual limbo at 141. I made it to 137 for like, a week, then I lost the fucks I had given about my weight and can't seem to find them again. But, I will attempt to give it my all again in February. I'm like you, I have a reasonable diet, but I'm way too lax on exercise and know it. If I kicked it up a few notches, I'd be rockin' and rollin'.
I was going to say more exercise might be necessary but who has time for that. I really need to start doing some core workouts and picking up the speed on my walks with LO.
Ugh. I'm with you all on the "need to lose weight and tone up" train. I'm also logging into My fitness pal. I'm going to start going to the gym 3-4x per week wth or without baby. It just has to happen. I started packing my meals for the week too , less chance for me to down a Coke and a piece of pizza !
Thanks for replying guys. At least I'm not alone. It sucks it's so much harder to get our bodies back to the way they used to be... and in so many friggen ways!!! Why can't our stomachs just expand and then pop right back after?!?!
Oh girls, my body is a straight up disaster. My hormones have been controlling my eating and let's just say it's gotten crazy the past few weeks. I was weighed at the doctors office a few weeks ago and I about passed out at the number. I mean I know I need to eat better and actually stick to a workout but I feel like that's easier said than done. I'm struggling something serious, oh and because hormones my hair is falling out in clumps, like big ones. It's actually becoming noticeable bc my hairline is thinning... I'm not ready to be bald or have to join hair club for men.
@ball4768 Did your LO show signs of her milk allergy on her face (rash/dry skin patches)? Storm has 2 patches that just will not go away even though I've been cutting out the dairy. Some days they even seem like they're getting worse. Do you know if there is anything I can put on them?
@Ladybug2821 Johnny doesn't get skin rashes, but Jimmy did on his face, arms, and legs a lot and still does sometimes to this day from food allergies- we use a combo of hydrocortisone cream, butt paste, and coconut oil. Oddly, it works GREAT on some spots, and then others not at all. If you find something that works really well do share!

Nope, her only dairy allergy symptom was blood in her diaper. She does get dry patches on her skin though. Do you think there is any chance that it could be cradle cap? Willow has a large spot of cradle cap on her head that looks raised and bumpy (rather than flaky) and has sometimes spread to her forehead. I use coconut oil for that too. Also, you might try a layer of Aquaphor over lotion or coconut oil to seal in the moisture. Good luck!
For the Moms that are pumping at work, how are you transporting everything? Is it just smarter to pump into the bottles that Will be given to LO the next day? And how did you make it easier (pumping bra, nursing bras/camis under work clothes, etc)? My nursing bra sucks and I only have 1 so I can see this being a hassle.
I got sick of hauling my pump every day so I caved and rented one from babies r us. I love having one at home and one at work. I personally pump into bottles which works well. I also use the Medela wipes to clean to pump at work and keep the milk on ice to keep it cool. Just have to take home the bottles every day, everything else just stays hooked up in my office. If you didn't have an office it would be a bit more of a hassle carrying everything around. My supply has dipped since returning to work so I'm trying fenugreek, oatmeal, Brewer yeast etc. Btw Brewer yeast is NASTY.
Since I'm only pumping at work I figured I'd just leave the pump part at work and only transport the parts home to wash. Yes the Brewers yeast stinks. There are some good recipes out there for lactation cookies and @ball4768 posted a link to a recipe for a lactation snack.
@Ladybug2821 Here's what is in my pump bag everyday: bottles to pump into and 3 sets of pump parts; breastmilk storage bags, a hands-free pumping bra, a washcloth, breast pads, and a Sharpie. I find it easier to go ahead and transfer my pumped milk into the storage bags and then I store the bags in a cooler bag in the fridge. I found that washing pump parts was taking up too much time, so I got enough pump parts that I can use clean ones at each pumping session and then wash every evening. I carry a washcloth to prevent any drippage on my work clothes. I use the breast pads on days when I'm not wearing a bra that has lined cups (pumping makes my nipples super pointy for a little while), and the Sharpie is to label the bags.
@Ladybug2821 Sorry, forgot to respond to your question! My hands-free pumping bra is actually a strapless tube-top with a zipper in the middle (if that makes any sense at all). So I just pull down the cups on my nursing bra and put the hands-free bra on when I'm ready to pump. They do make pumping bras that are regular bras but have little holes for flanges. I'm interested in trying one of those.
@ball4768 That's really smart. I think I'm just going to make my own out of a old sports bra but it won't be as convenient as your set up. I can't imagine wearing a nursing bra for an entire year (hopefully I can BF that long). I need to wear my regular bras since they are so much more comfortable.
I use a zippered lunch bag and it has my single manual pump (the Philips Avent, it's amazing), 2 bottles, lids & caps, washcloths and almonds to snack on. I keep it all in the fridge so I don't have to wash between breaks (I only get 15m breaks). I also always bring a backup work shirt just in case, and extra nursing pads.
