FTM Check-in 1/30

Re: FTM Check-in 1/30

  • NatSprat0703 we are in the same boat for the registry. So we have a hidden Amazon registry that's 75% complete and when the time comes to make it public we will just add the same items to the other stores and delete them off amazon. Like, I want my carseat and stroller to be from a local store so returns won't be a hassle having to do them online. But to keep track of all my decisions for now we have them all in amazon.

  • @BlackNYellow I could give you all kinds of suggestions about Napa. First off stay at Hotel Napa Valley - wonderful bed and breakfast! As far as wineries, there's a lot of cool places. As far as some large places Sterling and Castello di Amarosa are worth seeing. Black Stallion is really cool - they have a vineyard that you can try their grapes. Hagafen is a real small place that was very interesting- chickens outside and outdoor games to play. Andretti Winery was really cool - we drank wine out of a barrel! Do your research beforehand- some places require appointments. Also we were told it is less crowded during the week if that matters to you.

  • @budzynb that's how we are too, I have a Google Doc and it has Amazon, Target, Babies R Us  columns for me to mark where we are/should be registering for it, but I also have a hidden amazon with most of the items saved.
    TW:

8/18: Our daughter kicked open heart surgery ass
2/19: We lost our son to Prader-Willi/Paradoxical Vocal Cord/ Noonans at 6wks old
    4/26/2020: EDD for baby #3!!!
  • @jacksonbears @Knottie80654994 Looking back at my bump pictures from my first pregnancy, I truly think I convinced myself I was “showing” before I really was.  I’d say it was 18/19 weeks for me.  I showed to strangers around probably 21 weeks. But everyone will be different.

@Kathryn0903 just go with a jogging stroller.  I had friends with the Baby Jogger Summit X3 and they used it along with us on normal walks and out and about.

@JWatt5 @budzynb @lyse01 we don’t live anywhere near family and travel to them so we use the Pack n Play when we went to their places.  We also took it along to hotels even though hotels will many times have one (that grosses me out though).  We didn’t use one at home at all.  But, I have friends who have them in their living rooms and do all the diaper changes and naps in there (note: 2-story house).

@lyse01 look into Baby Jogger brand.  A good majority of them allow the snap in of certain car seat brands once you buy the adapters.  I love the ease of this feature!  I read @budzynb recommendation on the City Mini GT but I’ll be honest, if you have rougher terrain and will be in grass and gravel, you will want something with larger tires.  We live on a gravel road and took our stroller through grass and it was still rather bumpy and we had the BJ City Select which has considerably larger tires and different suspension.

@NatSprat0703 @BlackNYellow I completed my registry about three months prior to my EDD because my showers were two months before my EDD.  This gave the hostesses enough time to get invites out (with registry info) and for people to buy from it.  There’s nothing wrong with adding items now.  Most of them have a “private” setting.

@smallbutmighty77 I’d start looking for daycare/nanny now.  Wait lists can be SUPER long (over 2 years for some ages here).  Get on those waiting lists ASAP.

  • @budzynb I've thought about making an amazon registry in addition to a store one. My fear is the items no longer being available on Amazon then I'd have to do more research lol.
@bumpybump that sounds like a good timeline to have them complete.  I've started doing research on stuff, esp big ticket items, and made a registry checklist. And start looking at daycares now?! Oh goodness, I need to get on that then!!

  • @NatSprat0703 an Amazon registry is so nice. FYI, if someone buys an item from your Amazon registry but at a different store, they can mark that so it goes off your registry.
