@canonmom413. Are you temping? Most of us like to wait till three days after suspected O before moving over, since O can only be confirmed in hindsight. That's why it takes 3 days for FF to give you CH, gives you time to see cm "dry up" post-O, sustained elevated temp shift, etc. Of course you can feel free to do what you want, but the typical ttgp thing is to wait for the third day before moving over. As for today, I know it's early, but so far all I have gotten was posts on FB and 1 text. No cards in the mail, nothing. In previous years, I was ok with my birthday being just another day. @crazypuglady I am. I'll be some where near 50 hours this week.
@orbmaker Well I am a combat medic for the military and I think that has a lot of influence on the decision. I like knowing that in an emergency situation I can help make a difference. Since I'm in the guard I don't get to do it and I feel like I'm not being of any use. So I would like to do something like that every day. I leaned towards NICU sometimes because of two of my friends. **TW loss mentioned** One friend was pregnant with a little boy the found out his heart had a hole in it and would need surgery right after birth. Sadly his lungs weren't fully developed and they couldn't preform the surgery he needed. My other friend struggled with infertility and ended up pregnant with twins after using clomid. The babies were born at 22 weeks so they were in NICU for months. unfortunately one of them didn't make it. The little girl however is a little over a year old now.
@loveindc I have gotten an O dip the day of O in 6 out of 8 cycles I've temped. But many of the charts posted in the grad thread don't have them. I wouldn't be surprised if the FF charts are chosen for looking pretty.
BusinessWife Sorry your DH is stalling on tests...and hopefully you can get your tests done soon.
adirat@LoveinDC: I sleep with a nightly mouth/grind guard and temp with it in. I guess I never thought about it affecting temps. The only time I haven't temped with it in was on vacation when I forgot it. My temps were a bit erratic, but I think it was more due to the change in time zone.

I always thought the NICU would be an amazing place to work. When I went back to school to be a nurse, I was convinced I wanted to work in pediatrics, and in palliative (end-of-life/chronic illness) care specifically. One of my brothers passed away after living with a childhood cancer and I felt a pull to pay it forward to those facing similar challenges. I don't know if it's my hormonal proximity to child-rearing, but when I did my school rotations in Labor & Delivery and Peds Oncology, I could not plug up the waterworks. It was secretly-sobbing-in-the-bathroom bad.
Working the ED is really interesting. You see everything! One minute you're doing diabetes education, then you're doing a physical exam on a 5 year old, the next you're pushing epi in a code. You might like it!

I’m back from the new OBGYN and I have questions! She was
super sweet. Very chill. Overall, I think our attitudes mesh very well. She
gave me a bunch of PNV samples and even some morning sickness pills in case I
needed them soon (FX). One thing struck me very odd though.
I told her I was charting BBT. I also told her that my first
cycle off BCP was 46 days. She told me if my BBT doesn’t spike tomorrow, or I
had another cycle less than 25 or greater than 35 days, she wanted to start me
on Clomid. Is that normal? She was very nonchalant and cavalier about it and
said if I could prove I didn’t ovulate one cycle, that’s all she needed before
we started.
She did mention that after 6 months of Clomid, she would at
most do an HSG before referring me to an RE. So I don’t think she is trying to
treat IF, just try and give healthy women the best odds. But is there any
danger jumping on Clomid so early? Or taking too much of it? Red flag? I haven't even considered discussing it so early, so I'm a bit behind the ball here.
@LoveInDC run! Handing out clomid like candy is dangerous. Did she say anything about monitoring? Clomid can increase your risk of high order multiples, as well as permanently thin your uterine lining. It's for women who absolutely aren't ovulating and should be monitored closely, not to give a healthy woman the best odds. You don't necessarily need to see an RE to use it, my ob put me on clomid and monitored with blood work and frequent ultrasounds, in addition to first doing an SA on My H. Clomid can do amazing things for women who are truly struggling to conceive, but it should be used carefully.
Thanks @heatherdubrow and @adirat for confirming my suspicions. She mentioned nothing about testing or blood work at all. She did say "because of Clomid's half-life, many women who stop at 6 months end up getting pregnant a few months later because their body has the right amount leftover." It just seemed very odd.
Every OBGYN I see says that (FX) I shouldn't have any IF issues. And she is one of the best-reviewed in the area. Would I be crazy to keep seeing her and just turn down her offer? Or does this destroy her credibility across the board?

@LoveInDC if you otherwise like her then I think it's fine to keep seeing her, her main job is helping you have a healthy pregnancy, not getting you pregnant.
LoveInDC: I see that you are on cycle 3 of trying. Sorry if I missed this, are you sure you haven't been ovulating? If not, is there a reason your doctor brought up clomid? I understand your cycles have varied, but with only 2 full cycles, it might take time to regulate. Did you just get off birth control a few months ago?
R/R: I found out yesterday that my drama teaching from high school is in hospice. He had been in the hospital since Christmas and they kept changing his diagnosis. The latest one is "Mad-Cow Disease". I'm heartbroken. He and his husband we like a second set of parents to their student and the Drama program in general. I hate that I can't even go visit him in the hospital since I've moved out of state.

@dragonfly87 - Exactly. I stopped BCP and started TTC in November. I figured I didn't ovulate my first cycle off BCP (46 days). Last cycle, CM showed up in spades and I had every sign of O, but I didn't temp or OPK to confirm. This cycle is looking good and BBT should confirm in a day or so. I don't think I'll have O issues moving forward. She just really latched onto the idea that I had a 46 day cycle (even though she acknowledged it can take time to regulate off BCP). Like I said, it was weird. I just wanted to make sure you all were on the same wavelength with me.
Thanks @heatherdubrow for that reassurance. We were very in sync about pregnancy philosophies and I trust her to keep me healthy. I wanted to make sure this wasn't a strike against her judgement as a whole instead of a good Dr. naively branching out.

@LoveInDC a lot of obs like to try their hand at fertility medicine... like a lot of them. I don't think it has any bearing on how good of an ob they are, just that they are woefully undereducated about treating infertility and shouldn't dabble in it.

@lulu1180: Boo for snow! I think it's pretty, but prefer it stays in the mountains. Continuing to send positive thoughts for your family.
@LoveinDC: FX O is coming soon! No idea on the O dip thing.
kaitlink33 Hope your appointment goes well!
mispanda FX O is soon!
@orbmaker: That's awesome that a young child/teen is so active given the current situation in our country!
canonmom413 Happy Birthday!
BusinessWife Sorry your DH is stalling on tests...and hopefully you can get your tests done soon.
adirat @LoveinDC: I sleep with a nightly mouth/grind guard and temp with it in. I guess I never thought about it affecting temps. The only time I haven't temped with it in was on vacation when I forgot it. My temps were a bit erratic, but I think it was more due to the change in time zone.

Babybis totally healthy and I snuggled the heck out of him. I'm still a little baffled as to why she induced early, and I wonder if it contributed to her bleeding. End TW**

She was super sweet. Very chill. Overall, I think our attitudes mesh very well. She gave me a bunch of PNV samples and even some morning sickness pills in case I needed them soon (FX). One thing struck me very odd though.
I told her I was charting BBT. I also told her that my first cycle off BCP was 46 days. She told me if my BBT doesn’t spike tomorrow, or I had another cycle less than 25 or greater than 35 days, she wanted to start me on Clomid. Is that normal? She was very nonchalant and cavalier about it and said if I could prove I didn’t ovulate one cycle, that’s all she needed before we started.
She did mention that after 6 months of Clomid, she would at most do an HSG before referring me to an RE. So I don’t think she is trying to treat IF, just try and give healthy women the best odds. But is there any danger jumping on Clomid so early? Or taking too much of it? Red flag? I haven't even considered discussing it so early, so I'm a bit behind the ball here.

Every OBGYN I see says that (FX) I shouldn't have any IF issues. And she is one of the best-reviewed in the area. Would I be crazy to keep seeing her and just turn down her offer? Or does this destroy her credibility across the board?

Thanks @heatherdubrow for that reassurance. We were very in sync about pregnancy philosophies and I trust her to keep me healthy. I wanted to make sure this wasn't a strike against her judgement as a whole instead of a good Dr. naively branching out.
