Omg @clt2pwm11 I'm speechless. Do they know what happened and how come you went into labour so early? I'm sorry you have to go through this, but I'm glad it happened at this stage and that you are well. Hope you get to see baby boy soon. Praying for you and your family.

@clt2pwm11 - I am thinking of you and youe little one.
Thank you ladies. It has been a long day. I met with 1 ob, 2 mfm residents and a neonatal doctor. Everyone seems to have different opinions, but everyone is in agreement they are optimistic I won't deliver for a few weeks. The mfm residents were great. they are under the best mfm in the area. At first they said there was nothing they would do until 23 weeks (viability here). Then they talked to the mfm and she said she might want to try an emergency cerclage. Most doctors do not suggest them for twins, but I guess she is the best of the best. They checked my cervix and I am not dilated. I am not contracting either. The mfm wants one of their doctors to do an ultrasound in the morning then she will decide what she wants to do. I am uncertain how I feel about the cerclage but it might be the only option to come close to 36 weeks. They also have started me on progesterone. And I will either start steroid injections and maginisum tomorrow or Sunday to help the babies develop just in case. The neonatal doctor went over risks and asked us to sign an agreement if we want to try to intubate at 22 and 23 weeks if they come in the next week and 3 days. Hopefully we have a definite plan tomorrow. Every day is one day closer to them being okay if they come.

@kelrauh Good luck in deciding what to do. If I had known, I would've had the cerclage, but my situation was different than yours. They gave me the magnesium. It made me feel like I was on fire, and it also have me dry heaves. It did slow things a little, but I was so dilated and my water sac was so low that felt they had to move forward. I pray you can make it a few more weeks.
@flanners1 They have absolutely no clue why this happened. I am healthy, I don't smoke or drink, I took a multi-vitamin. My grandmother did die this week, so maybe the added stress? Who knows.
Thank you everyone for the good thoughts and prayers. I knew things were different when my contractions were paired with back pain and a strong need to poo. When I got up to potty and wiped, I had a bit of pink blood. I immediately called, and my doctor had me come in. Everything moved very quickly. I was at the hospital by 4:45, and they had me prepped and ready for c- section by 7:15. They did have to wait for the NICU team to get here (baby and I are currently at separate hospitals which is the worst part of all this), but things went well. My husband went to the other hospital and got to go see baby this afternoon (I only got to see him for five minutes before he was rushed out of the building. It was too much of a risk to transport me pregnant to the other hospital as Charlie was lying in a crazy position and I was so far along). Baby is doing well as far as a baby in his condition can do. They are helping him breath and have a little feeding tube in him. I started pumping already, and until I can get my milk to him, they are giving him donor milk. I am so thankful for this because breastfeeding is really important to me, and it will likely be awhile before he can try to nurse. Having this donor milk is such a blessing. The only thing I can do to give him an advantage is to get him good, healthy milk. Everything else feels so out of my control. This was definitely not how I expected my day to go!!

@clt2pwm11- they are giving me magnesium because it is supposed to lower a babies risk of cerebral palsy significantly. The mfm said if they can get it in the moms system it can lower the risk by 50%. I cannot imagine how scary your situation is. If the nicu team he has is anything like the one I have here he will be in great hands. They reassured us a lot yesterday, and with him making it to 26 weeks he has odds strongly in his favor. I am glad they are able to do donor milk. That was also discused yesterday, it reassured me that if they come early and I can't supply it they will have it. I hope you can see your little man soon. I am thinking and praying for you. @2legbaby- it isn't fair. That's all DH keeps saying. I feel like the fertility process has made it a little easier to work though this in my head though. Yesterday was noneventful besides lots of family visiting and doctors trying to prepare us for the unexpected with delivery. We also started steroids which is a huge step. The ob said baby A could slip out with no warning because if I dialate with no labor she is very small and can just come out unexpectedly and depending on baby b's urgency he would be born with a classic verticle section or vaginally. They would prefer c section.
We hit a huge milestone today by making it to 23 weeks! Which is viability at our hospital and the nicu has quite high survival rates this week and each day it goes up 3-4%. DH texted me at midnight so excited we made it to today.... I think some sort of celebration will be in order every Sunday until they come. We are staying positive and looking at one day/week at a time.

@kelrauh what an amazing feeling to make it to viability. @clt2pwm11 I hope your reunion was nothing short of incredible. I'm thinking of both of you ladies daily!
AFM- has anyone had experience with getting dizzy/nauseous and almost passing out? I almost because 'that girl' yesterday at a wedding. I'm not sure if it's because my nose is sensitive and the combo of people's perfume and an older gentleman in front of me in the pew whose suit clearly hadn't been worn in years and was musty along with the standing/kneeling did it but as I was kneeling my ears started to plug, I got dizzy and had to sit down. Then I got all sweaty and nauseous. Fanning myself with a program helped and the feeling passed after a few minutes. It freaked me out though.

@byrneme if I change positions too quickly I will get extremely dizzy and have close to passing out. It's from the cardiovascular changes in our bodies(increased blood flow etc). My dr assured me it's totally normal but I just need to slow down. Strong cigarette smoke smell makes me pretty nauseated but never to the point of dizziness or feeling faint. I usually just feel like I might lose my cookies on them.
Make sure you are drinking enough water as well! I notice it a lot more if I'm slightly dehydrated.
@kelrauh Congratulations on hitting another milestone! Hopefully the babies stay put for a little bit longer. It's amazing how far modern medicine has come! Sending prayers and positive thoughts your way!

@clt2pwm11 How'd your reunion go with Charlie? Thinking of you!
I'm 22 weeks now. My rheumatologist told me right after I got pregnant that because of my autoimmune disorder I have an increased risk of pre-term labor. That, combined with what you ladies have been going through this week, has made it adamant in my mind that I request a cervical measurement at my ultrasound on Tuesday! Trying to not get too paranoid.

@kelrauh I can't imagine how nerve wracking that must all be. I guess I'm a way I was lucky because I didn't know to worry! I have some c-section advice for you (and anyone else) 1. Take the little peribottle they give you to spray your lady bits. It is a godsend. 2. Take all the mesh panties they will give you. They weren't kidding about a lot of blood. 3. Don't be alarmed by bruising. No one told me to expect bruising, and it really freaked me out, but it is totally normal. I'll be closely watching for your updates! I pray your little babes stay put for a while longer.!
Thanks for everyone's concern. Charlie is really amazing. He takes little breaths on his own. Today he worked hmself up and was flailing around considerably. I got to change his diaper and he even got to hold my finger for awhile which was wonderful. I am very light headed because my iron is low (they have me on pills to help) so I couldn't stand during his whole care time this morning, but I'm slowly feeling better. They said it shouldn't be too many more days until we can do kangaroo care and I can hold him. Today they are doing an ultrasound on his brain to check for bleeds (totally normal) and they are going to increase his food. My milk came in, and I'm pumping like a little cow! I want him to have every possible advantage that breast milk can give him. It hasn't been bad ( I pump every 3 hours with one 4-5 he break during the night). Nips are a little sore but I've got cream for them and I do have a weird swollen thing in my armpit that hardens when it is about time to pump. I've been icing it between pumps which is what LLL suggests, and it is helping.
I felt a little down yesterday because I realized how much I missed out on. I told my husband I feel a little cheated. This may be our only baby, and I was so looking forward to maternity pictures and all of our showers. Oh well. In the grand scheme of things, as long as he is ok none of that stuff matters.
Thanks for reading! I appreciate the support so much.

The husband and I have become helicopter parents, and we are ok with it! Luckily, my sister went through a NICU experience, so my family totally understands and has been helpful but has respectfully given us our space. My brother came and met him yesterday which was exciting! They were a little concerned about Charlie's belly but they did an x-ray and all is well. They also stepped him off the ventilators and onto a CPAP. If his breathing is too labored, they will put him back on the vent, but it is incredible that he is doing so much on his own. We are about to head over there to see him again. I can't wait!

@clt2pwm11- I am so happy to read your little Charlie is doing good.
I am jealous of your families ability to understand. My mom is being a bit overwhelming. She lives 2 hours away and is a nurse for reason she feels like she needs to be here 24/7 and ask the doctors and nurses questions. DHs family is not like that at all. My DH is not happy about it and wants me to tell her she needs to give us space and go home (which she did yesterday but is making her way back today even though I asked her to come back Wednesday) she said we have snow storms coming and doesn't want to get stick in it if something happens. Every hint I have made she acts like DH doesn't like her and has a problem with her. I told DH that my focus right now is keeping my stress down and these babies in so I cant be between the two of them. Sorry for my rant I've only been here 5 days and I feel like I'm losing it.

Way to go Charlie! What a strong little boy you have @clt2pwm11!
Ugh, family hey @kelrauh. They all mean so well, yet sometimes that's not what you need! Definitely keep your stress down as much as one can. Any chance you could tell your mum it is so very kind of her, but you need your rest, so if she could come certain days so you can get your energy up the other days? And do not apologise for ranting here. You may rant 24/7 on this board if that takes off the heat and you keep those babies inside!
@kelrauh I'm sorry that your family is not helping your stress levels. I know how it feels to be in between two parties who should know better. Like @tvh1982 said, if you can firmly tell your mom that you need her to respect to your wishes, that would be good. Some people do not respond to hints at all, and you may have to risk hurting her feelings in order to get your boundaries up where they belong. If you can't, is there another family member who could intercede for you?

@kelrauh So sorry you're dealing with family stress right now! Is there any chance you can get the doctors and nurses to be the bad guy for you? Can you ask them to tell your mom visitors are restricted for your health and well being? That way you don't have to try and deal with being the peace keeper and can just focus on the babies.
@clt2pwm11 great news on Charlie's progress and totally agree with him not being at home for the shower with his sensitive immune system
@kelrauh I second @persnickity 's recommendation about having nurse/Dr play the bad guy...during our birthing class the nurse encouraged us to use them if family was getting to be " too much "(in reference to l&d but applies even more to your situation as stress is bad!)

My little guy had a great day. I was able to send some colostrum today which he took like a champ. He made a few wet diapers and one poopy diaper which are all good signs. I am getting discharged in the morning and then I will head to the other hospital to see him. I cannot wait!

@clt2pwm11 - I have been thinking about you and Charlie. I hope you both are doing great!

My mom told me when she was having babies, showers were always held after the baby arrived because then they could be the star of the show.

@kelrauh I second @persnickity 's recommendation about having nurse/Dr play the bad guy...during our birthing class the nurse encouraged us to use them if family was getting to be " too much "(in reference to l&d but applies even more to your situation as stress is bad!)
