I'll start! I'm not an animal person. Sure I think some are cute but I've never had a desire to have a pet. Not even as a child. People sometimes act like I have two heads bc I don't want to pet their dog or whatever. Nope. No thank you.
I am all for a healthy lifestyle and getting in shape. And while I understand it's about physical appearance for some, I get bothered when that's all they think about. Instead of focusing on what they are able to do with new found strengths and muscles gained, they focus on their abs and how hot they are. I am working out, eating rightish (momma needs her wine), and breastfeeding. I'm not doing this just for me. I'm doing it so this summer I can put DS in his carrier and we can go for long hikes. And I'm ok with not having abs. Never had them before either lol.
I'm not against dirt and mess. Sure my house is clean and everything has a place, but AJ sits in grass and the dog licks him and if a teether falls on the floor, I pick it up wipe it off and hand it back
@Heathereaddy I'm kinda with you, though it's not so much that I don't like animals as it is I don't like to deal with them too closely. I've always had pets and I like to play with tiny kittens or puppies but otherwise animals tend to irritate me unless they're leaving me alone. I'm scared of horses and large animals, I hate animal hair getting all over everything, I don't like petting dogs and then smelling like them....etc. Lol. I love my dog, but she also makes me never want to own another dog. She made me chase her around the neighborhood in the rain when I was home alone with the baby yesterday though, so I'm currently in a less dog-loving mood than usual maybe...

@FTM53 I'm with you! Dirt and germs are going to be part of the crawling process in our house. I try to stay on top of the cleaning but with 2 dogs this kid is going to have to deal with crawling on dirty floors.
Mine is that I'm hope to be a free range parent, or as free range as our society will allow. I'm pretty sure if I let my kid do what I did growing up (babysit at age 10, ride my bike to the grocery store half a mile away, stay out until dark with no way of communicating, etc.) I would have social services called on me. BUT I do plan on letting my kids do their thing without me stepping in. If he falls and gets hurt because he was doing something dumb, in my opinion he will learn much quicker than if I jump in and tell him it's dangerous. I say this now, but who knows what I'll be like when Q gets older. Everything I thought I would be as a parent has evolved into something new. I was the best parent ever before I had a kid
@holly142 thanks I'm going to check them out! I feel like all I do is read baby books these days! I need a good book just for me that I can get lost in....
@arhodes6 here's, my u/o...I haven't read a single parenting book. Unless you count "how to raise an adult" a parenting book. I really just read it cause it sounded good. If you like British satire, Terry Prachett is amazing.
@FTM53 Ahh!! Me either. I was really starting to feel bad. I plan to read some focused on their toddler growth...but I haven't read anything for these stages. Probably why I ask so many questions!
My U/O...I plan to put off buying anything Disney, cartoon, themed anything as long as possible. Honestly, if I really have it my way...forever! I think it's crazy paying almost double for the same type item and it all has such a short shelf life. Within a year it's yesterday's craze and not cool anymore. My sister gives me hope that it's possible, lol. My nieces have never worn a Frozen anything...even though it was all the rage during their toddler years.
@TiffRox81 good luck!! That will be hard, but definitely doable. DH and are huge Disney fans. We live nearby and go about once a month, so poor DS is often in Disney gear. I do plan on doing limited toys though and mostly creative ones (building blocks/legos, pretend play...) and limiting video games/tv time.
Classic Mickey I can handle!! It's more the Hannah Montana, Dora, paw patrol...I'm not into the idea of buying a new sleeping bag, bedding...every year because she has something that's not cool anymore. Especially at this age. She doesn't know any different. Of course this is what I say now....hopefully it works, lol.
@FTM53 Terry Pratchett is amazing! I read Small Gods and it completely changed my mindset on religion and hooked me on satire. Then I went back and started reading his books in order.
